Name: Quarthon
Race: Wood Elf
Class/Background: Monk (Kensei)/Haunted One
Level: Early Career (1-3)
Ability Score Rolls: Ability scores: 11141613910
Background Story:
Quarthon was born into a well respected and noble wood elf family within his tribe - the grandson of one of the tribe Elders. Generally shy and introspective as a child, he kept to himself and had few friends, save one, Elyon, an elf born on the same day as Quarthon and a decendant of another Elder.
Although trained in the traditional weaponry of the elves, as was customary for children of high status, Quarthon seemed to have a natural affinity for unarmed combat. He and Elyon would often spar among the trees in the forest with Quarthon nearly always coming out on top. On one of these occasions a few years past, Quarthon knocked Elyon prone with a push to the chest as he had so many times before. Only this time, in a random quirk of fate, Elyon’s head hit a rock at just the right angle killing him instantly. Filled with horror, grief, guilt, and fear over killing his friend only one thought entered in Quarthon’s mind...RUN!!
Since that day Quarthon has been wandering in solitude; a haunted drifter unable to go home to face the certain judgement of his tribe. Although any judgement that could be rendered upon him would be nothing compared the the judgement he was imposing upon himself. Perhaps by traveling to another land and busying himself with adventure Quarthon will finally be able to escape his past sin and find some small amount of redemption.
The esteemed Company of the Dragon has, due to unforeseen employee shortfalls, found itself in need of 1 to two adventurers who will journey into the Mad Mage's domain of Waterdeep. All of the normal contracts and ;paperwork will be required,of course. The Company needs to be able to recoop expenditures if, for some unforeseen circumstance, you are unable to perform the required work to our standards. I.E. you don't make it out of the dungeon alive.
Please post new applications below this point. I am not looking back at previous ones, since I believe we have most everyone there already in one game or another. Post 1 will ahve the details for character creation. Level will be level 5 though.
Backstory: The daughter of blacksmiths, she grew up in Mithral Hall alongside her kin. Though she received an education, Sam would get into fights with her classmates, and sometimes the teachers. Most of this stemmed from the bullying she received for her inability to grow a beard.
When she reached adulthood, Sam traveled through the mountains and routinely visited cities on the Sword Coast.
During one of her travels, Sam came to the Monastery of the Bronze Hammer and met monks of various races. She helped with cleaning and beer brewing and would accompany the monks when they went into town to sell alcohol. The monestary became her new home.
Although Sam was intrigued by martial arts, the monks knew Sam’s temper was better suited for other kinds of battles. One of the monks, an orc named Octobrewfist, taught Sam the ways of a barbarian. After he passed away, Sam took his name as a way to honor him, with her family’s blessing.
Sam left the monastery two months after Octobrewfist’s passing and became a bounty hunter, which brought her to Neverwinter. She accompanied a group of adventurers to a temple, stopping Black Earth Cultists in the process. She encountered the cult again when they attempted to steal Lord Nevermember’s treasure.
As Sam grew in strength, she received a vision from her orc mentor, who guided her on the Path of the Ancestral Guardian. When Sam rages in battle, she is assisted by past warriors from the Bronze Hammer.
Sam currently makes her home in Vellosk, though she will visit friends in Neverwinter. She lives in a small hut with her baby hook horror, Hops.

Name: Stigr Lightpunch
Race: Human variant
Class: Hexblade Warlock, Pact of the Chain
Background: Urchin
Backstory: Stigr grew up on the streets, just another urchin living on the scraps of society in Waterdeep. He learned at an early age that what others called theft, he called survival. One day he broke into a rich man's house, looking for food or anything he could sell. What he did find was a crystalline piece of what looked like a blade, picking it up curiously, it started speaking to him, offering him power, a better chance at life, in exchange for service. He agreed. So far the being kept its promise, giving him arcane power, even sending him an imp bound to his service. And now, off all things, it asked him to sign up with a strange organization organizing a trip into the depths under the city.
Backstory: Orphaned as a child Artie was adopted by a blacksmith. Artie doesn't know much about his draconic lineage but he trained with the Dwarves in crafting. He becomes fascinated with tales of Dragons his adoptive father used to tell him. He always admired the strength of dragons and the freedom of flying through the skies. Artie realizes that he may not be able to become a full fledged dragon but with some ingenuity he could learn to harness great firepower and soar through the skies.
I want to play this character which is why I applied twice with it. This one will be slightly different than the other character.
Harukai was a quiet soul who was content to live out his life in service to Ilmater, but fate had other ideas. Less ecclesiastical in his interests, he often was tasked with accompanying the faithful as protection rather than as spiritual fellow. Thus it was that he accompanied a small contingent of priests into the catacombs beneath the abbey to visit the honored dead. Harukai does not speak of the next few days, but observant companions have heard him thrash while dreaming some nights, fighting off some nameless fear. What is known is that the abbey fell in smoke and flame into a great pit that opened below, and Harukai was found, barely alive, at its edge. Leaving his past behind once he had healed enough to travel, Harukai set off into new lands, trying to make a new start for himself and somehow make sense of a faith that failed his brothers but spared his own life...
...and he found that new purpose, helping the people of Phandelver throw off their oppressors and reclaim their mines. With he and his companions hailed as heroes, he decided to stay in town and open up a small monastery to both spread the faith and train the townsfolk in case evil days once again loomed...But Ilmater's plans may be different for him, and occasionally he glimpses far off places full of adventure in his dreams.
I do like several of the applications I have seen so far. I would love to see some more magic users, healers, or rogues though. The current group has one paladin and one sorcerer, so we have a good amount of spots open...

Are there any magic items allowed at fifth level? Harukai can function as an emergency healer, but would be much more useful in that regard with a staff of healing.

My Hexblade up there is intended as a kinda of limited rogue/caster. Not planning on taking him as a melee character, but more sneaky, control magic, and ranged combat. But if you need a more dedicated blaster caster or healer, I'm willing to switch it up and fill whatever is needed.
Maximus always enjoyed the seclusion of his hut by the ocean. Selune obviously had different plans and sent him traveling the land aiding where he could. Maximus was not sure why she sent him out but eventually he came to Waterdeep and started to assist in the local healing shops wherever he could. He was able to find a place to sleep at night in a secluded part of the harbor so at least he was never far form his ocean breezes and was able to gaze up at her magnificence in the evenings.
"Ah. Well, I am a member if the elven court and I seek knowledge in any area that might give me an advantage among my peers. Often, I have found that matters of the arcane can be invaluable tools for many areas that would otherwise prove complicated, so my study has focused on the arcane." Trinaster holds up the book he is holding. "That is why this one caught my eye." The cover reads: Grimoire Arcanum Elementum
You have the distinction if meeting the Trinaster Filamoyn. The elf bows, ready to the receive fawning admiration, but is met instead with silence.
"Oh, Have you ... not ... heard of me!?" The elf says in surprise, a worried and confused expression passing quickly across his face, fading to a practiced smile. "I am an artist. I work mostly in pen and ink, but I dabble in oils as well. "
Hello all, I am currently opening up this recruitment for a single player. We are looking for a healer of some sort, Cleric, druid, etc, to be part of my Phandalin COD Franchise.
In this campaign we currently have...
A Genasi | Fighter / Rogue / Assassin A Tabaxi | Ranger / Hunter An Elf | Rogue / Arcane Trickster A Goliath | Fighter / Gunslinger A Gith | Wizard / War Magic
We are feeling the lack of a healer though, so would like to see if we could fill that gap. The current module they are working on, and have nearly finished, is the Dragon of Icespire Peak. The plan will be to move on to the next module in that chain once this one is completed though, so we would like someone who is willing to sign on for a long campaign.
Use the character guidelines from post #1 in this forum in your character application. You will be starting out at level 6 though. Equipment and gear will we finalized once a character is picked.
Occupation: Cleric Of Corellon, specializing in the Light Domain. (OOC, I can change to life if it works better)
Previous Experience: I am quite adept at foraging and navigating wildlands. I am descended from ancient elven nobility, but my family is no longer considered such. Even so, I amproud of my lineage. I grew up in a small cottage in the forest. I was once walking in the forest when I fell into a lake. I surely would have drowned if I hadn't been pulled from the water by a luminous figure. I didn't get a good glimpse of the figure, but I think he saw silvery skin and the edge of a feathered wing. I know this was a sign I would be needed as a servant of the divine, and as such began studying as a cleric. I am quite adept at divine magic, and also am capable of defending myself and goodly creatures.
Khalani grew up on the streets of Zhentil Keep. His parents were too poor to properly care for Khalani or his three sister and two brothers. They were none of them neglected but Ma and Pa worked all day just to get enough food to keep the family from starving. Khalani grew up loved but bored, his agile mind always looking for stimulation. He organized the children of his street into a little gang to keep it safe from the other gangs, to keep the little ones from running off. Disorder and chaos were anathema to him. His favorite times were story times. His father had one book, obtained he knew not where, and from that book he taught Khalani and his siblings to read. It was in books that Khalani found true escape from poverty. He quickly learned which merchants and citizens had books and which of those would let him read for an hour, or more, if he did the odd job or ran an errand. He read histories and essays, novels of romance and adventure. Many were surprised a street urchin could read and approved of the reverence with which Khalani treated books. Not longer after his twelfth birthday, one of the rare priestesses of Azuth passed through in a wagon, reading "Dark Messenger: The Rise and Fall of Cargil the Black" by Palantis of Waterdeep. When Khalani called to the priestess, asking if he agreed with Palantis' conclusions, the priestess halted the wagon, got down and spoke to Khalani, plainly amazed a street urchin could read, let alone had read "Dark Messenger." In short order, with precise questions, she determined that not only had he read the tome he had grasped it, as much as any 12 year old could. That night, after a short conversation with Khalani's parents in their hovel, surrounded by their brood, they agreed to let Khalani leave with the priestess, Sallath, to train with her as a priest of Azuth. "With Khalani's love of knowledge and learning and order, there can be no doubt that the Holy Azuth lead me here, at this time and place, to find him and bring him to the light of knowledge," Sallath said. That was 10 years ago and since then Sallath has consecrated Khalani as a priest of Azuth and he has journeyed to Phlan to bring the light of knowledge and benefits of order to that place.
