Solomon continues to read the book but is having a hard time concentrating on the words and his incantation. Fingolin and Pounce give their all as they try to bring down the tentacle. It recoils from their apparent strikes as the last glyph remains intact.
The group sits in silence and darkness waiting for what’s next. The tentacles seemed to have atop thrashing about.
A giant thunderwave breaks the silence as it erupts shattering the glass walls. Black ooze begins to pour in like somehow the room just crashed into a deep sea of ichor. The glowing magic from the book goes cold in Solomon’s hands. A giant tearing noise is heard as the portal and veil begin open from the pit. You feel the sludge around your ankles. The ground bland walls begin to shake a tremble as the integrity of the tower begins to falter.
(sort of a skill challenge, each round state a skill and roll. Describe how you use the specific skill to help the situation whatever your motive may be. )
The group looks around their collective areas to try and find any sign for a way out. Solomon looks through the book, but for now the beefy has faded and the words turn back to being impossible to read.
The thick syrupy like material is beginning to seep and squish between your toes. As the room floods Tennenaz, Fingolin, and Brocc look about the room and aren’t quite able to see everything in the room. They collectively remember the only way they have seen in this room was the way they initially entered. They recall the book that lie on the table on the opposite side. Now out of sight in the pitch black darkness of the room.
Solomon reluctantly stashes the book in his backpack, and starts making his way through the sludge, his boots making a 'thock' noise each time they break free of it.
The gang begins to trudge through the sludge of this abyssal goop. The slime substance holding on as if it were clawing and grasping at each footstep. In the distance they see the table that holds the book, now glowing faintly blue as it illuminates the tabletop around it.
From begins the group they hear a rumbling voice of letting loose a guttural roar from the pit. It’s all surrounding as it moves through your chest. It’s impossible to tell if it’s from the Fomorian or something ...... worse.
(making assumptions to keep things going, let me know if there was anything else you’d like to do?)
Touching the book one by one the party is once again teleported back to the wizards room at the top of the tower. Solomon the last one to touch it years the screams of Falwynn and Founder as they are sucked underneath the sludge and don’t make it out.
The same room stand before you. The stained glass is now shattered on the ground and rain is pouring in. Books and scrolls still line the walls. The red gem in the desk, sure to be magical trinkets inside display cases. The ground continues to shake as you feel the tower sway. BLACKSTAFF TOWER IS COLLAPSING.
(I’ll try to post the description of the room in the private message)
Each room/floor will require an athletics/Acrobatics check to escape (your choice). You have the option to try and nab various goods along the way. As it seems now the magic of the tower is inert and all the sigils keeping them locked are now open. With each item you take will require extra time and increase the DC. You may try and take a specific already described item, or you may take an item at random and we will roll to see what rarity it is!
Brocc casts Detect Magic on himself and then tries to grab anything that looks powerful to his magical senses. he then starts heading towards the door, shoving whatever he can find on the way into the saddlebags on Pounce. Due to his already knowing the place, and the objects he is most interested in, would he be able to find specific items on the way out?
“Go!”, roars Solomon. “Take what you can, but don’t stop!” He smashes a display case with his shield, swiping a couple of the items contained within and stuffing them into his backpack.
OOC - magical doo-dah rolls please! Or shall we roll once we (hopefully) get out.
Tennezaz will let the others grab things unless he passes close enough to grab something while not slowing down. A part of him hates that they may be leaving useful items behind but decide it is more important for him to survive.
Brocc has Pounce grab the gem off the table. He will grab the case from the drawer, then stuff what else he can reach into the saddle bags as Pounce heads towards the exit.
(I see Brocc as stuffing whatever he can reach as Pounce rushes past with the gem in his mouth. Let me know if he gets anything or not...)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The tower is crumbling around the group as they quickly start hoarding what they can in the rooms. Large rocks from the walls start falling and breaking the furniture and floorboards around them. Splinters and shards flying everywhere, glass breaking and the floor bows and rises.
Brocc grabs: 1
1 - scroll 1
2 - scroll 2
3 - gem
The green crystal gem, as he scrambles to take one of the scrolls from the shelf, the walls shake and topple the shelf. He and pounce dart out of the way, but they both suffer 8 piercing damage from the flying debris on their way out to the door.
Fingolin quickly hops over the broken chairs and raids the dresser, the cloak is grasped and stuffed into his bag as he narrowly avoids any harm. 4
Solomon smashes the display case and as he does, he realizes the ground around him wasn’t as secure as before, the ground caves in around him. He takes 1 piercing damage as he bear crawls himself out with nothing to show for his efforts.
Tennenaz looks a bit dazed in the drama and severity of the situation he is still able to grab a magical item of 1 worth (will find out later what it is)

"No! NO!" Solomon desperately flicks through the foreign script in the lifeless book he holds, looking for something that could halt this process...
Arcana: 7
Brocc glances around, trying to see if there is anything that can help them get this back on track...
Perception: 12
Seeing that the ritual failed, and something bad was about to happen, Fingolin looks around for a way out, or any sign of a weaker wall.
Perception: 8
Tennezaz glares hatefully around the room as he looks for a way to leave the room quickly. He will move to run from the ozze if possible.
Investigation to find a way out: 13

"I think the only way out is the book that brought us here. Let's go back, quickly."
Fingolin starts in the direction of the book.
"Yes, back to the book!" Brocc calls and heads in that direction as well.
Solomon reluctantly stashes the book in his backpack, and starts making his way through the sludge, his boots making a 'thock' noise each time they break free of it.

Brocc - the entire room lights up with glows from books and scrolls and the gem on the table. Things that pop out as the strongest auras are the
Gem on table - necromancy
Scroll one - conjuration
