Maximus woudl indeed be in the middle and he would attach a rope to the front of the boat and drag it along the shore behind him, assuming there is nothing along the shoreline that it woudl catch on.
Ok, the boat situation... You cannot tow a boat along from the shore without the boat getting busted apart on the shoreline. The current is swift and would simply break the boat apart. Unless you can tow it in the middle of the stream, away from the shores, or row it yourself, the only way you take it with you is to carry it. Do you do that?
After a few moments of dragging the boat along the shoreline, Maximus stops "Yea, this is not going to work, tie it here or does anyone else have an idea?"
“Not a one.....well, it wouldn’t fit through the door to our keep would it?” Rurik asks looking at the boat as if trying to imagine how he could get it in the doorway to bring out later.
Stigr shakes his head, "If we're leaving it, I'd rather pull it all the way rather than trust to a knot. But it might fit through the door, we can try?"
"Scuttle her then.. Even if the oarsman we commandeered her from was friendly, I'm guessing our chances at an alliance after we pilfered their transport are slim. That ship, I'd where, has sailed" trin says wryly.
The boat actually will fit through the door to the HQ. You move it inside and then leave it there. (It also weighs only 100 LB, if carrying it was a thought later on.)
Northward
Contiuing past the tunnel that leads back East (toards the stairs you took down to this level,) you walk for a little distance before you come to a series of caves. On this side of the river you find the below two areas...
Rafts
Leaning against the walls are two 10-foot-square rafts made of zurkhwood logs lashed together with thick spiderwebs. Resting nearby are six 10-foot poles that are used to guide the rafts up and down the river.
Ferryman’s Rest
This 20-foot-high cave abuts the River Sargauth and has the following feature: Ferry. A black gondola, its hull carved with leering eyes, is moored at the river’s edge and ferried by a black-robed tiefling skeleton clutching a 10-foot pole, which it uses to guide the boat.
“Don’t know if I’d wana go across with that thing. We should rest somewhere though,” Rurik says giving a side glance at the creature, “not close to that bag of bones.”
[OOC: besides the ferry to get across the river are there any other exits out of this area? Can we continue in the direction we are going with the river on our right past this ferryman? Maximus would want to continue in one direction to keep mapping the area, instead of just going random routes here and there.]
"You know, Maximus," Trin muses, "many an interesting personage has passed through the elven court in my time there. If ever the opportunity should arise, I should like to introduce you to a particularly affluent gentleman who called upon the coronal once: a dapper gnome by the name of Anaxi Zephries. I really think you two would hit it off."
"Sounds interesting, I have not ventured too far form the sea except this hellish place so an Elven court would be welcome reprieve, especially if I would be allowed to do several sketches of the place." Maximus says to Trin.
The skeleton nods his head as Trin holds up the coins, but does not move to take them. Did Trin climb onto the boat to do this, or is he doing so from the shore, some distance from the skeleton?
Maximus
The tunnel stops here, you have gone as far north as there is tunnel here. The river itself flows out of the ground here, and the boat cannot even sail further northward.
Maximus woudl indeed be in the middle and he would attach a rope to the front of the boat and drag it along the shore behind him, assuming there is nothing along the shoreline that it woudl catch on.
Stigr would be at the rear of the group, but his imp would be ranging ahead about 60 feet.
Trin's somewhere in the back
Samantha would be in the middle.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
(OOC I think the line up works well. I believe we were dreading the boat along)

Trin finds 2 gold coins in his purse and holds it out for the ossified oarsman. "Will this cover it?" he inquires.

Samantha hears Maximus. "If you want to, go for it."

"Well it appears we have gone as far as we can this direction, do we get in the boat or go back away and take another direction." Maximus says.
