The crab sticks its head back out of its shell at the words... It starts speaking in a language only Sinsil can understand.
"Finally soneone I can understand..." The crab says. "A way out, that wuld be great, get you out of my home anyway... I do not know much of this place, since I was brought in when I was a hatchling, but I believe the way East leads out."
The group of you would know that the Eastern hall leads to nothing but a rubble filled stairs. You found out first hand already that going that way was fruitless and would only include someone getting badly hurt.
"You have got to be kidding me. We can't get through there anymore, it had collapsed even before you idiots caused another cave-in. Damn it, this gas is gonna start getting to us before too long here. We've got to keep working here, we can't go any other direction, so this likely our best hope to get out of here, or at least out of this gas."

So far this session I have hit my teammates twice, flat-out missed 3 times, and only hit the enemy twice. Trust me, you don't want to borrow my dice.
Shieldbiter knows that the door will be very hard, if not impossible, to open with the silt in the way. He thinks that finding a way to keep the silt from oozing back in where it is being removed from might be a good idea. Now if he only knew where some good rubble could be located, he could pack that in to keep the silt from constantly blocking the door as they shovel it away.
The crab adjusts its bulk, glancing towards the stairs. It says in that strange language...
"The northern passage?" It says, looking as if in deep thought. "I did see some that went that way, but that was those who were going to other places inside the temple, not to the surface. I think there is another way out in that direction though, I just do not know anything past that door."
Cas's work at the rope and pully is having some effect, but it seems to be getting harder, not easier as you guys try to pull the door against the large amount of silt.
Grunts with the strain of operating the pulley, panting whenever he isn't pulling. During one of those pauses, he looks over at the others and says: "Hey, maybe if we used some of that rubble from the East exit, we could block the silt from pouring back under the door constantly. Pulling on some rocks would surely be easier?"

After working to build a dike around the area the door can open in, and then digging out the silt with a shovel, in combination with Cas's use of the pully and rope, the door opens up for the group. The wet silt moves in and holds the door open with more than enough room for each member of the group to get through.
You find yourself in a long hallway...
The walls of this corridor are wet and slimy. The stucco covering has become saturated with water and is decomposing and sloughing off in spots on the southern wall, exposing the seams of one of the large stone blocks from which this structure was built.
Zubin wipes his hands on the trousers of his dark outfit and peers down the hallway. "I'm trying to remember the topography above," the half-elf says, his eyes narrowing. "This part of the complex wouldn't be under a body of water, would it?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Cas moves down the hall, he carefully inspects the walls, looking for any engravings, hidden buttons, etc. "So, what did the crab say about this passage?"

“Nothing particularly useful, I’m afraid - apparently it’s seen some other people head down that way, but not recently. Might be a way out that way, but it will be through the temple”
Rik asks the Crab again - “Any details about the people you saw head this way would be wonderful. When did you see them, how many were there, were they armed?”
Persuasion: 18 (Nat 20! Hopefully it knows something useful)

"It says east leads out. See if it will clear the way." Sinsil orders with an air of superiority.
“Don’t know if that’s true anymore - I came in that way, and it’s completely blocked now”

Rik asks the crab again “no luck with the east passage my dear - can you tell us anything about the northern passage?”
Shieldbiter takes another look at the mud and gas both. Can he discern anything more with his survival skills?

Sweet, a crit lol hopefully that gets me somewhere.

"That's just what I was thinking! I'll go grab some, anyone wanna help?"
Zubin looks about as excited as you'd expect. "I'll help you move rubble. I've always known I'd end up doing hard labor."
Can you give a description of your character, so everyone knows what they are dealing with?

Larry will flop a miniature cloak around in his hand and mumble something in the dark tongue "Be careful..."

You would not recall any bodies of water seen from above. A small stream flowed not far off in the forest, but nothing directly over this spot.
