With the danger gone, Calyvorra rushes to check on Sildar. "Yes, Sildar, we're the ones Gundren hired, but more importantly at the moment, how are you holding up? I'm Callie by the way..." Not being particularly well-versed in medicine, Callie has only past experience and a rudimentary knowledge of anatomy to help her assess Sildar's condition.
He isn't in any immediate danger of dying but you can tell based on the coughed up blood and his breathing that he has a few broken ribs and quite a few bruises, there are cuts on him from being pressed against the rocks but none from any blade. He has two points of exhaustion; He'll be at his minimum for the next few days given his condition but will recover with rest.
"I will recover. Thank you for rescuing me and tending to me, I appreciate it." He winces a little from the pain. "Allow me to introduce myself a little better. I am Sildar Hallwinter of the Lord's Alliance. I was on my way to Phandalin for two reasons: First, I'm looking for Iarno Albrek, a Lords Alliance member who went missing in this area. Secondly, my good friend Gundren asked me to help him with his mining expedition -- he and his brothers Tharden and Nundro had found the entrance to the Wave Echo Cave. Unfortunately, I heard the same as you, Gundren had been taken. I also overheard that someone named 'The Black Spideq' gave orders to this 'Grol' who is king of this 'Cragmaw' clan to bring 'The dwarf and his map' to him. I don't know who or what this Black Spider is, but they're apparently in charge."
Grum leaves Callie to tend to Sildar and find out his story, still listening from a distance. Meanwhile, Grum goes and looks at the crates to see if he can find an easy way to open them without making *too* much noise.
Unfortunately no hit points are regained (He's at 1) but he is stable and more comfortable now. Behind the crates are the goblin bedrolls, and though small you can kind of stack them on top of each other so he has a place to more comfortably rest. The goblins dont have anything on them except for Yeemik, who carries a small pouch containing 15 silver pieces and three gold teeth that could pass as gold pieces. The crates lids are open, and there's some old meat thats kind of just been shunted in there, a few unskinned rabbits, a doe with 3 missing legs and some flint. Looks like these are just their storage crates for cooking stuff.
As you lead Sildar over to the bedrolls he picks up a shortsword and says "I can still help you guys fight if need be, though I much prefer to rest a short while then make my way to Phandalin."
Grum returns from the crates disappointed. "We should go and clear out the rest of the cave, including confronting Klarg, at some point. It seems like you could do with a good long rest, and I could also use a bit of a rest if we're safe to do so here, but with Klarg and other goblins in another part of the cave, we may not get a chance for such a long rest."
(In other words, is a long rest an option so that we can take Sildar with us to confront Klarg? If not, I wouldn't mind a short rest to get a bit of healing back. But if we think we need to press on, or any kind of rest would be risky, I'm happy just to continue. What do others think?)
(Long rest could be an option if thats what the group decides, but you have no knowledge of their routines since SIldar was unconcious at times while here so one or more would have to take turns keeping watch. Sildar would recover health from a short rest too, depends what you guys decide)
(Bizarrely, I don't think anyone's taken any damage since the original ambush, so I suspect the only ones below full health are myself and Sildar, and I'm happy to use a short rest and hit dice. So unless anyone else has any other reason for a long rest, it seems like a short rest is all we need.)
Yeah, you guys one-shotted a lot of the goblins haha. Looking back though some of you did get hit (including yourself btw)
Sildar speaks up some more:
"If you guys clear out Klarg I can very well protect myself in this room, I'm assuming you guys have already taken care of the goblin that was on the bridge. If so no more should come this way."
<Squelch> looks up from scrounging through the goblin's supplies. <Grum's voice> "...bit of a rest." Followed by <Sildar's voice> "...clear out Klarg."

Callie takes a moment to think things through. "Klarg is supposed to be a bugbear, right? We might want to take a quick break before we take him on then..."

((I don't see where anyone else got hit since we started delving, I was trying to confirm that I hadn't gotten hit mostly! The only time that it would have been a hit was during the Dodge action at the start of this room, but dodge should have prevented that hit. So...am I hurt and I'm missing a post?))
"Well this ain't so bad! We'll just go thump this bugbear and get on to town. Until then, lets gather our wits a bit before moving on." Brandor almost immediately starts shifting through the cooking supplies of the goblins to add to his own kit. Just in case they might have pulled some valuable spices or food from travelers.
Investigation:13 (Added proficiency because of my cooking tool proficiency but if that doesn't make sense, -2 from this)
(You got hit from the ambush at the start but took a short rest to heal it off when the others explored the area so you're all good)
The goblins aren't much for spice, but on table near the cooking fire there are some flowers and various plants that a goblin had picked. Most are just weeds and grass that the goblins had pulled out but you do find some Saffron and Coriander, apparently the goblins either lucked out or stole this from a traveler.
Callie finds a comfortable piece of floor and sits down with her legs crossed. Though she tries to lean back against the wall and relax, she can't seem to stop fidgeting, and her bow is always within reach.
The cave echoes with the crackling fire and is joined by the distant sounds of the running stream. The air is filled with tension. Who is this 'Black Spider'? What secrets does the cave hold? How many of these Cragmaws serve King Grol and Klarg? Where is Gundren and his brothers, if they're even still alive?
An hour passes uneventfully, save for the anxious unwillingness of whats to come.
(You all successfully finish a short rest! Heal up with Hit Die, etc)

<Squelch> assists Callie with assessing his wounds and making him as comfortable as possible. He then searches the goblins and hides their bodies.

He then searches the entire area, and attempts to create a small area where Sildar can lay down behind the crates.

OK, so assuming we're taking a short rest, Grum regains 5 HP from his Hit Die.

Grum, feeling much better, looks around his companions.
"Well, it would be rude to at least not grant Yeemik his last wish. Shall we go rid this cave of Klarg?"

RavenloftAnnihilationCallie practically leaps to her feet at Grum's words, clearly glad to be moving again. "Lead the way, captain!"
