Cimeri ruined the joke with one simple question: "What is beholder?" May be she would even remember, but right now her thought were occupied mostly by the camp - the future one in Templar's place (she was not sure what to expect from them) and the one they are supposed to make right about now, with waking up goblin and his interrogation. She would like to make it more of a friendly conversation, but was not sure knocking creature down made it easier.
"Should we start looking for a place to camp?" Taman asks their guide as the sun lowers towards dusk. He glances around to see if he can spot any potential areas to pull the canoe up on shore and that would make a good campsite.
“Yes, Silvertongue, what is beholder?” Azaka asks, steering the canoe to the western river bank where Taman has spotted a clearing amongst the trees. “Good eye,” she says. The West Bank will have less chance of undead... but more jungle perils.” After hauling the canoe onto the bank, she grabs a leaf off a nearby tree and rips a chunk out of the tip so the leaf appears forked. “look for leaves like this, forked at the end. If you find one, back away, and tell all of us where it is. Also, any plants that... move.”
”Eye-scream”, chirps the yellow bird.
”Yes, scream if you see any of those things... quietly.” Responds Azaka. “Now,” she utters, stepping to Cimeri, I want to see you wake this goblin. She draws her scimitar in a fluid motion and strokes the edge.
"Give me a moment please." Taman instructs the group. He moves off and takes ten minutes to ritually cast his comprehend language spell. When that is done he will return and nod to Cimeri. "Please go ahead."
Cimeri's excitement ("He is talking!" was killed at the start) and she collected herself, took the goblin out, carefully bound his hands (making sure to make it as painless as possible) and then firmly pressed two points at the back of his skull, hoping goblins anatomy was not all that different from any other humanoid.
(Do hope a day on the boat was enough for the goblin to regenerate a couple of HP and being in conditions for waking up :) )
Bryn sees the forked leaf just as Celtra finishes plucking a yellow fruit from a mass of vines hanging from the nearby trees. The vines writhe and coil and whip towards you.
[Celtra is surprised this round so she goes after everything else. Other players hear the commotion and can react next round. Bryn's turn is now, then the plant mass. The melee is 100ft from everyone else all have LOS]
The captured goblin awakes with a start; he squints like he has a migraine. He begins gibbering in goblinoid, spitting, hissing, and struggling with his bonds ineffectively but hilariously.
The commotion in the jungle where foraging party was looking for something useful was extremely untimely! But Cimeri did all she could for now and it was up to Taman to get anything out of the goblin anyway. "I'll just check what is going on there!" with these words she dashed (80 ft) to the sound of battle.
"Slow down." Taman says in common. "Do you understand me?" He frowns over at the commotion in the jungle, but figures the others can handle it for now, so he concentrates on the goblin. "Do you understand these words?" he says in slow common.
The goblin starts, and wonderingly answers in the affirmative; having done this previously you notice the goblin dialect is different here in Chult. These are less organized, more primal goblins.

Celtra will busy herself with unloading the canoe and scoping out the perimeter while the others make ready to question the goblin.
[Celtra, and anyone else scoping, give me the higher of an active perception check and your passive perception pls]

Grumbles turn into growls from Bryn’s throat, “FORK LEAF! FORK LEAF!” She’ll shout before lunging for the source of the whipping vine with her spear.
