As you try to get a better look, the stranger's form seems to waiver and shift into something new. He now looks like a human man wearing a heavy blue trench coat and a broad brimmed hat, blonde hair falling down his shoulders, and a very charming grin on his face.
"Spells, mostly. And while I find myself without a sword at the moment, you'll find I'm quite capable of swinging one. So please... allow me the chance to prove myself, and you won't be disappointed." He has a flourishing bow as he says the last.
Aldin stays with and where Black Cat suggests. He lends some of his equally extensive knowledge of stealth to help them blend in and try to throw off tails.
Stealth: 18
Once close to the tavern and on their way in Aldin looks around and almost trips when he sees Ester gambling, cool as a cucumber. "They have to be twins," he stammers as he quickly looks around to see if any from the store are there or paying him and Black Cat any extra attention.
Jorel will look to Smoke and the others, "A mysterious stranger showing up and offering help just as we could use it? Wonderful! Isn't it amazing how the gods work sometimes?" Looking back at the stranger, "Welcome aboard!"
The stranger nods at Jorel and moves to sit with Smoke. “Jack,” he says resting a hand against his own chest. “How may I assist in meeting your needs?”
Smoke will order a round of drinks for the group. I think we could all use this right now. Everyone, this is Jack. He says to be a mage of sorts and would like to join us on our mission.
He looks towards Aldin and Black Cat with a concerned look. Are you alright Aldin, what did you get yourselves into?
Moving his gaze towards Jorel. And you, who was that person you were talking to? Did he give you that gold?
I managed to get Ester over there.. He nods his head towards Ester.. to support our merchant friend Zyn-Dar. Who gave us some valuable potions in return. Worthy of a tale i might add He says with a smirk but i will save it for another day.
(combined some talking since i assume each will give an update to all in return)
(@DM: not sure how much the drinks would cost but if you let me know ill remove the coin)
Aldin sits at the table, his hands flat on the table. "Jorel and I took a look through the basement, he found some friends whilst I found a tunnel. The tunnel led me to some type of knick knack store and oddly enough Black Cat. We decided to check out what was the big deal with the store and well, I got caught. The strange thing is," he leans in closer, "Ester was there. He was the one who hurt m ein our struggle in fact."
Jorel will join him at the table, "The man I met is named Dauvyn, he is working security for Zander one of the imperial candidates. He offered us some money and items in exchange for us taking out these rebels and his employer taking credit for sponsoring us to do it. Everyone wins."
Hmm, Black Cat followed the gold from Esters winnings. He couldnt of been there already, he stayed here with us.
He looks at Ester again, not doubting Aldins words.
Reacting to Jorel Well done, our list of allies grows. We should find those rebels after our rest.
He ponders for a moment then his tail goes up as he has a bright idea!
Could this be some kind of magic.. Jack?he says, referring to Aldins words as he looks at the new guy. After we met you changed your look. Is Ester doing that, or could the one Aldin met be fake.
He looks to the table as his mind clearly is making quick jumps back and forth. Yes i heard of such monsters. Oh yes, a great tale of trickery and deceit! Can you tell if Ester is real Jack? Can you?
Eyes wide as he awaits his answer. HIs tail curls up again as Jack would quickly notice Smoke is not the most patient of types.
Black Cat mentions the first encounter he witnessed that also lead back to that shop, so something is going on. He also noticed that Ester seemed a bit more monstrous in the encounter with Aldin. He suggests that maybe we should go visit that shop this evening to see what is really going in there and then maybe explore the tunnels below the tavern as well. See if there are any other directions it leads.
During all this he will keep an eye on Jack and try and determine if his intentions are true.
True? Like does he mean what he said? Yeah, seems legit. Hard to say why else he’d be here like this. He doesn’t seem very aware of precisely what you all are up to

Smoke's eyes light up as he hears Black Cat mention a more monstererous Ester. Monster..
Ok, we will go back there tonight. See what this monster is up to. Perhaps we can find our answers there. Once we have done that we can take our next step towards defeating the rebels.
He looks back at the Ester in the tavern and narrows his eyes trying to see if he spots anything odd about Esters movements.
(Perception 19)
(Does our sitdown here count as a short rest? Some of us could use one before going back to where the other Ester was)
"I understand why we may want to look in to this shop amd Ester situation but may I recommend that we first deal with these rebels? If they were to strike again while we distracted," Aldin trailed off as he hopes the point is sound.
Jorel will nod to Aldin, "I agree, this Ester man is strange, and the situation around him stranger still, but I'd rather help the city and get on their good side by taking care of the rebels before we mess with such a prominent citizen."
[OOC: Alright, now that the characters seem to have gotten acquainted to the new addition to the party and whatnot, I'll be responding again and move the story along. Black Cat, by now it would probably be late afternoon, in an hour or two it'd be bordering on nightfall.]
At this time, a male and female human duo walks into the tavern, their clothes tattered and torn. But not from wear. And their faces have dirt upon them, with blood smeared across parts of their face and neck. These are not the kinds of scars from days past, these wounds and misfortunes appear fresh. They practically stagger over to an available table not too far away and begin worriedly conversing. They seem to stand out in some sort of way to the rest of the crowd.

Smoke looks behind himself to see what Aldin is referring to and turns back to nod. They look like they could use a friend.
He gets up from the table and walks to the two standing next to their table and asks a waiter to bring 3 drinks.
Smoke puts on a concerned face saying Looks like you two have had a rough time. Allow me to buy you a drink. Smoke sits down. Are you two alright? Perhaps my allies and i could be of assistance. We.. he licks his thumb and wipes of a splatter of blood on his own shirt ... specialize in dangerous situations.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Black Cat as always will try to stay in the shadows and keep an eye on the place and see if anyone is paying any particular attention to us or the newcomers making sure no one from the antic shop are now inside the tavern.
The two look at Smoke nervously, expecting it to be a trick. The man slowly says, "Th-thank you." He then continues on in a unique accent, "We are the owner of a shop. A coin store, with all kinds of unique coins. Valuable coins. Today, there was a break-in. A robbery..."
Black Cat, you do not recognize anyone form the antique shop currently.
[OOC: I dearly apologize for my long hiatus, I was sick with the flu. I also would like to apologize for not being the most active/present DM in the past. I will try to be much more active from now on. Thank you for your patience.]

Then your in luck. As my friend Jorel mentions we are in need of a mage.
He points to an empty table for the group to sit.
Take a seat.
As Smoke sits down as well he releases a sigh of relief to rest his aching bones for a moment.
My name is Smoke, the proud leader of this group. He says while extending his arms outward with a smile on his face.
The stranger nods at Jorel and moves to sit with Smoke. “Jack,” he says resting a hand against his own chest. “How may I assist in meeting your needs?”
