Standing up, Gerrard says to Peri, "They want the weapons or they will burn the ship." Looking to Dwal and Qivys, he adds, "Could we have missed a sizable stash of weapons onboard?" Gerrard addresses the LIzardman as he waits for his companions to reply, "Am căutat nava și nu ți-am găsit armele. Am întrebat doar tovarășii mei dacă le-au văzut în căutarea lor. Nu am luat nimic de pe această navă de când am ajuns, așa că, dacă lipsesc, este promisiunea stricată a căpitan anterior, nu al nostru."
Draconic:
"I have searched the ship and not found your weapons. I just asked my companions if they have seen them in their searching. We have taken nothing off this ship since we arrived, so if they are missing, it is the broken promise of the previous captain, not ours."

"That does seem to rule out the three elven weapons. I don't suppose anyone checked the bilge? It's a lousy place to hide anything prone to rusting, but it's the only place I can think of that hasn't been searched yet. I'll go check down there; won't be my first time in the bilge. But if they're not down there, they must be hidden in the other cargo. Brandy's not the only thing t' be stored in kegs." Appreciating the break from stitching canvas, Peri will go down to inspect the bilge.
The lizardfolk continue to respond with an unnerving lack of emotion. They respond:
We will deliver the cargo or die trying. Do you need our assistance in tearing open every last plank in this ship?
Meanwhile, Peri descends into the hold, grabs the lantern, and opens the hatch to the bilge. From the hatchway, you can see a little of what lies in the gloom below. This area stretches the full width of the ship and, for all you can see, the full length, for no bulkheads are in view. What must be the bottom of the ship is covered with a thick layer of wet sand (presumably ballast) on top of which is an inch or so of green, greasy water.
A scuttling noise toward the stern indicates there is some life down here — perhaps living off the garbage thrown in occasionally by the lazy crew, for there are heaps of trash immediately below the hatch that have formed small islands in the fetid water. A particularly large one has accumulated at the base of the mast.
As you move your light back and forth, you catch a yellow reflection in one of the garbage piles.
Gerrard nods to Peri and says to the LIzardman, "Căpitanul a plecat să vă caute armele ultima dată. Dacă nu le găsim, puteți ridica plângerea dvs. cu oficialii Saltmarsh."
Draconic:
"The captain has gone to look for your weapons one last time. If we can't find them, you can take up your complaint with the Saltmarsh officials."

With his complete lack of knowledge around the lizardfolk and their language, Qiv decides he might be more help searching with the Capitan (deliberate spelling). "Cap, wait up, I'll shed some light for you. "He casts Mage Hand and has it carry another lantern ahead of his friend, looking to light up more than just the 20ft . "Can you see anything Peri? I figured light might show up shiny weapons better than my darkvision."
He looks distastefully at the bilgewater sloshing around. He had no desire to splash through the filth, but the lizardfolk were certain there were weapons aboard, so in he must go. Well, he could take a rinse in the sea when he came up. "I always thought being Captain was going to be more glamorous," he quips, then hops down into the stinking water. "Ugh, you might as well wait up there," he calls to the dwarf. "No reason for us both to stink. But keep an ear out in case it's more than rats down here. And keep the lantern up there too; don't want to burn the ship before the lizardfolk get to." One direction's as good as another, so he heads toward the pile with the yellow glint. He takes the opportunity to use his Eldritch Sight to detect any magical effects around him, just in case.
(Devil's Sight gives him normal vision, even in the dark.)
That halfling never ceases to amaze. Qiv withdraws his mage hand and let's Peri descend into the pitch black of the bilge. "Aye Cap'n. Scream if ya need something."He stands ready to follow if called. If he's honest, he's happy to let the captain slosh around down there. Afterall, the stench of bilge water would take hours to disappear from his clothes.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The bilge offers only 4 feet of headroom, which is plenty for the intrepid halfling captain (not so much for Qivys, who wisely stays above the stinking swill.)
Peri hops down and sinks to his ankles in rank, oily water and sand. As he approaches the nasty garbage island around the mast, he sees two swarms of finger-sized grubs wriggling rapidly through the shallow water toward him.
Initiative: Grubs: 2 Peri: 14 Qivys: 5
(-1! Peri can easily climb to safety if he chooses not to engage.)
Meanwhile, up on the deck, the lizardfolk remain quiet. The three sizable creatures file out onto the deck into the morning gloom. (The weather is heavily overcast, but bright, and without precipitation.)
"Kill em all! Kill em all! Wutheh tel'quiet, Sashelas!" squawks the parrot.
"What the-!"Startled by the grubs, Peri takes a step backward, then catches himself. He gets ready to squish the little squirmers but then remembers Qivys telling him of an encounter he'd had with some nasty burrowing grubs and thinks better of it. Probably nothin', but better safe than sorry. "Watch out!" he hollers up the hatch, before hopping up out of the bilge. He explains the appearance of the grubs and looks back down into the hole.
Peri scrambles back up the ladder to the hold. While he didn't discover the nature of the yellow glint, he is now quite confident that there are no large quantities of armaments hidden in the bilge. There just aren't any hiding places down there, other than some small piles of garbage.
"That bilge's gonna need cleanin', and those grubs squished, but we'll get to that later. They coulda hidden a few swords in those trash heaps, but not a whole load o' weapons. Mister Qivys, you're undoubtedly stronger than I; d'you think you can give a few o' these casks a good shakin'? It'll be interestin' to see if they slosh or rattle, eh?"
"Ohh great. My own parrot speaks dragon but won't say anything else to me 'cept fat pig" He turns around to see what the parrot is squawking at. "Pelors bright ba...." He's interrupted by the damn bird again. "Dwal. What are they doing out looking like they want to start something? What'd you two say to them?"He asks a apprehensively.
With nary a sound, a tiny brown dragon scampers out of the lizardfolks' cabin. It flies up into the gray sky, perching for a moment on the crow's nest before flying high into the sky, then circling the ship. It's quite small - with a body the size of a house cat, maybe, with a long tail.
The lizardfolk remain still and silent. They carry clubs and javelins and spiked shields.
“The weapons are not in the bilge. We have one more place to check—if we do not find them there, the best we can do is take you to Saltmash so you may lodge your complaint of being cheated by the previous captain.”

The lizardfolk turn their heads in unison toward Gerrard.
"We are not going to Saltmarsh. We are going to the destination agreed upon. Today. The weapons are here. If they were thrown into the sea, or lost, we will seize this ship in their place."
The tiny dragon continues to circle high above the ship.
"Kill em' all!" shrieks the parrot.

(Keep forgetting you have Devil Sight. )
Dwal
Dwal fumbles around on the deck for a bit, listening to the exchanges of his companions.
"Why the devil would pirates stow weapons among the sludge and salty mush?" he asks. "Salt water rusts and destroys iron and steel."
The bilge offers only 4 feet of headroom, which is plenty for the intrepid halfling captain (not so much for Qivys, who wisely stays above the stinking swill.)

Dwal
Dwal watches the Lizardmen pile out. Hearing the parrot as a warning. "What is your intent?" he says in Draconic.
Dwal readies his war hammer.
The lizardfolk look at Dwal and his hammer with curiosity, cocking their heads sideways at him in unison.
We watch. We monitor your activity. We estimate our location. What is your intent?
Peri:

Dwal
"Just making sure we all keep the peace and no harm befalls any of my friends or you.' Dwal says in Draconic.
"They just came up on deck to observe, or so they say Qivys." Dwal says in dwarven.
Dwal keeps his hammer at his side.
