(If I'm following correctly, Gerrard and Peri get a Surprise Round? If so, Peri will cast faerie fire, targeting the closest attackers in a way that will hit as many of them as possible (AoE = 20' cube))
Stepping out from behind the tree, Gerrard surprises the big gnoll with a bolt in the leg. The beast brushes it off like a thorn, but you can see dark blood beginning to ooze down its thigh.
Peri likewise appears with another surprise - an unworldly arcane glow which tries to affix itself to six of the charging monsters. They skip and duck - 17 - 16 - 19 - 14 - 4 - 18
...all but one manages to evade the alien green glow.
Dwal casts his own spell and gets behind Peri.
Gerrard may act again. Dwal has blessed the party; one gnoll is glowing an eerie green from Peri's spell; the big gnoll is bleeding. Some are preparing to fire their bows; others are charging.
Taking a step west, Gerard calls over his shoulder to Kei, "Brace yourself." He drops into a defensive stance and prepares to receive the charge of the gnolls.
Action = Dodge
Planned Reaction: First attacker to miss him in melee he will Riposte:
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The big, dark gnoll charges forward, shouting commands, and takes partial cover behind a thicket. It fires a pair of arrows at Peri in quick succession:
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Peri:
So much for keepin' low. he thinks, and with a whoop he charges the attacking gnolls. "Lankus!!" he shouts as he stabs at the first gnoll (southernmost of the group of four, 13 +1 to hit, 5 damage). "We found 'em!" He crouches low in a defensive stance, expending a bit of Ki to dodge the spears and arrows of the ugly beasts.
((Peri's position is the square SE of the group of 4, right in front of the shrub. Also, if there was ever a time I wish I could drop a Fireball...))
Peri sprints from out of his scrubby hiding spot and places himself between a dead bush and a particularly gnarly looking gnoll with one eye oozing yellow goo. He rams the point of his spear into its ribs, protected with some sort of tough hide, and manages to puncture the foul beast with a nasty wound. The gnoll yelps and growls, black spittle flying. Peri readies himself for the pack's response, his back to the bush. You can see that this front line of attackers is preparing to drop their bows and switch to spears.
Kei may act next (also Trill and Bjorn); then Dwal and Gerrard.
Having someone willing to stand in front of him and offer protection was something Kei hadn't experienced before. His usual battlemates would be looking out for themselves, not deliberately putting themselves in harm's way. He was taken aback for just a moment. "Thankyou most noble of nobles. I have your back."His words full of emotion, he hopes Gerrard understands his sincerity. (Take a bardic inspiration)
A plan forms in Kei's mind. Taking a step closer to Gerrard he says "Go for the leader and these beasts will surely fall". With that he casts Invisibility on the young noble and then retreats behind the scrub, away from sight.
((He moves to somewhere near Peri and Dwal on the previous map))
Smiling at Kei's earnest words, Gerrard startles a bit when he fades from sight. "MIght as well try Kei's plan" , he thinks, then moves to directly confront the Gnoll leader.
Blessed and invisible, Gerrard attempts to strike the Gnoll's weapon hands with his Elegant Rapier, hoping to relieve him of his intimidating weapon--be it glaive or bow. He then follows up with his Main Gauche and settles into a defensive stance, prepared to capitalize on any missed strike.
Action: Invisible attack with Elegant Rapier with attempt to disarm: Attack: 22 plus Bless 3, Damage: 15, DC 14 Strength or Disarmed
Bonus: Attack with Main Gauche: 13 plus Bless 1, Damage: 6
Reaction: Riposte from previous post against first melee attack which misses him.
Edit: Since Kei gave him bardic inspiration and it is Kei's plan he is executing, let's add that die of inspiration to the Main Gauche Attack: 2
Kei tags Gerrard's shoulder; the noble disappears from view. Then Kei sprints south to take cover behind the bush where Peri hid moments ago.
Bjorn flies high into the air, then dive bombs the injured gnoll Peri wounded, feigns an attack and trying to distract it to help Peri's next attack.
Dwal fires a trio of arcane missiles at the glaive-bearing gnoll; it winces and screeches in pain and tendrils of smoke drift from its shaggy mane.
Gerrard, invisible, catches the big gnoll by surprise. It takes a serious wound to the arm and tries to hold on to its glaive: Strength check: 17
The fancy glaive flies from the creatures filthy hands. Gerrard's second strike, inspired by Kei, scores a second wound. The gnoll is not looking at all well at this point, bleeding from multiple serious wounds.
(OCC: It hit, but wouldn't the second hit also have advantage from invisibility? Also: not sure I can let you reuse an unused roll, as good as it was. Go ahead and reroll riposte. So sorry!)
The big gnoll takes a wild close-ranged attack at its invisible attacker with its bow, and then snaps its jaws in the air, hoping to connect. Longbow attack at disadvantage: 7. Piercing damage: 10 Bite attack: 16. Piercing damage: 6
Both attacks miss completely.
Four gnolls surround Peri and attempt to skewer the dodging halfling with their spears.
Spear attack #1 vs Peri: 6 Piercing damage: 5 Spear attack #2 vs Peri: 5 Piercing damage: 4 Spear attack #3 vs Peri: 18 Piercing damage: 7 Spear attack #4 vs Peri: 10 Piercing damage: 4
As fleet footed as Peri is, the third and fourth spears connect, rather painfully.
Meanwhile, three gnolls fire bows from the scrub in the west: Longbow attack #1 (vs. Bjorn): 14. Piercing damage: 8 Longbow attack #2 (vs. Kei): 23. Piercing damage: 4 Longbow attack #3 (vs. Kei): 22. Piercing damage: 6
The first two miss their targets, but the third, a wildly lucky shot at Kei strikes him clean in the throat, even as he hides behind the half cover of the brush. Added crit damage: 7
Everyone may act, starting with Gerrard's riposte, then Peri and Kei.
(OOC: <shuffling through PHB> Correct. Thanks to all of you guys for continuing to school me in this stuff! We all learn together. Fortunately, Kei's Invisibility spell had a mysterious extra oomph this morning. It's passed now, as Gerrard has become fully visible, but perhaps it makes up for making you reroll that first awesome Riposte?)
Gerrard's lightning-quick riposte catches the big gnoll in the neck. It goes down in a fountain of yellow blood. One down.
Peri and Kei may go next. Peri has advantage on any attacks on the wounded gnoll, due to Bjorn's distraction.
Dwal continues to concentrate on his Bless. But Peri struggles to maintain concentration on his faerie fire after being struck by two spears. (Make two DC10 Constitution saves.)
(OCC: I was not aware Bless was a concentration spell?)
"I ain't sure rushing 2 different groups of Gnolls be a good plan lad." Dwal calls out. Dwal will cast Fog Cloud at the area between Gerrard and Peri at 2nd level. (40 ft. x 40 ft.) "This way lads," Dwal calls out. "We need a better plan 'cause them archers are gonna have our heads if'n we don't take the right approach."
"Four on one seems a little unfair. Let's see if we can't even the odds a little". Kei looks towards the gnolls surrounding Peri and focuses his magic, casting Bane in the hopes of giving Peri the upper hand. "Hey hyena heads! We've already killed your leader. Put your weapons down and we may take it easy on you."He shouts as his magic takes shape. Continuing his verbal assault he calls out to Peri "You may be surrounded but that merely gives you more opportunities to kick their heads in". The emphasis Kei lays on the last few words inspire Peri and help to focus his Ki. (Take a d6 Bardic inspiration)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Peri:
(Both CON checks: 12, 5)
Four on one's bad odds, boyo! He thrusts his spear into the distracted gnoll (24 + 3 to hit -- I believe Peri is still Blessed, based on Initiative order? -- 15 damage). (Oops, not a d20 damage die! 7 damage). He laughs maniacally at the gnolls and shouts, "Follow me if ya can, ya mangy curs!" then uses the last of his Ki to disengage from his attackers and run 35' due south, again shouting, "Lankus! They're over here!"
((A halfling can be bold, but he has his limits!))
(You are correct - Gerrard and Peri have first whack.)
Dwal
Dwal will cast Bless on the party as his action then move 25 ft. to his left.
Peri:
(If I'm following correctly, Gerrard and Peri get a Surprise Round? If so, Peri will cast faerie fire, targeting the closest attackers in a way that will hit as many of them as possible (AoE = 20' cube))
(Do we need another action from Gerrard if that first one was a surprise round action?)

The big, dark gnoll charges forward, shouting commands, and takes partial cover behind a thicket. It fires a pair of arrows at Peri in quick succession:
Longbow attack #1 (vs. Peri): 17. Piercing damage: 8
Longbow attack #2 (vs. Peri): 21. Piercing damage: 3
Peri easily sidesteps the incoming arrows.
Four more race forward, out into the clearing, while simultaneously firing arrows at Gerrard and Kei:
Longbow attack #3 (vs. Gerrard): 23. Piercing damage: 9
Longbow attack #3 (vs. Gerrard): 13. Piercing damage: 9
Longbow attack #3 (vs. Gerrard): 16. Piercing damage: 9
Longbow attack #3 (vs. Kei): 23. Piercing damage: 3
Gerrard and Kei similarly evade injury, although only Gerrard's sturdy armor keeps one well-aimed arrow from piercing him.
Three more gnolls take cover behind bushes, firing another flurry of arrows at Gerrard and Peri:
Longbow attack #3 (vs. Gerrard): 23. Piercing damage: 3
Longbow attack #3 (vs. Peri): 7. Piercing damage: 7
Longbow attack #3 (vs. Peri): 13. Piercing damage: 6
One lucky arrow manages to strike Peri painfully in the shin, even as he crouches behind a stunted oak.
The gnolls have not quite reached your position. Peri and Kei may act next.
