As Dwal retreats out of the field of tentacles, the fleet-footed halfling circles around from the south and hexes the man in the pit.
He then fires another beam of crackling purple energy at his trapped opponent. He yells in pain as he is again blasted by Peri's unearthly ray. Concentration check (with disadvantage): 5
The tentacles retreat back into the ground.
Still gravely injured, Stonehorn picks himself up, and finds the energy to sprint across the field to aid you, just passing Dwal by the end of his dash. Lankus joins him.
The man tries again to scramble out of the pit: Strength check:4
This time he succeeds. He turns, a furious look on his face, and raises his hands into the air and pulls them down suddenly. A massive black cloud appears overhead, casting a deep shadow over the entire battlefield. Out of it a bolt of blinding lightning flashes, striking directly between Peri and Gerrard.
Peri and Gerrard: make a DC13 Dexterity saving throw or take 21 lightning damage (half as much damage on a successful throw).
"Idiots!" he shouts. "You will all soon be DEAD, and you do THIS?" He continues to retreat south.
Everyone may act again. (Gerrard, Dwal, Kei, Peri.) Kei is still unconscious and fighting for life.

Gerrard:
Dexterity Save: 10
Still tangled in the grasping tentacles, Gerrard is about to be crushed again when Peri's attack disrupts the foe's concentration and frees the young noble, just in time for the next spell to come crashing in. Reeling from the bright light and shock, Gerrard charges after fleeing mage and attacks him with his Elegant Rapier and Main Gauche.
Elegant Rapier: Attack: 15 Damage: 6
Main Gauche: Attack: 11 Damage: 7

Peri:
Gloating a bit, feeling pretty pleased with himself for dispersing the tentacles, Peri is about to answer the crazy hermit when the lightning bolt blasts down beside him.
DEX save: 16
As the heat sears his side, he is momentarily deafened in one ear from the blast. "Oh, I'm really startin' to take a distinct dislike to this guy." He races after the half-naked codger, getting between him and the cliff's edge. Then he swings his fancy, enchanted spear like a baseball bat at the man's knees, hoping to knock him flat. (12 for 9 + 3 necrotic, nonlethal damage). If the old man is still conscious, Peri will smash an elbow into his temple (9 for 4 + 5 necrotic, nonlethal damage).
The tentacles fallen away, Gerrard rushes over to engage the man in melee. He is unarmed and unarmored, and both of Gerrard's blades strike him. Nevertheless, he appears to be made of tough stuff, and walks away with minor injuries. (Concentration checks:9, 13 )
Peri likewise hits him with a pair of well aimed blows. He shouts and grunts with each hit, but still he walks away. (Concentration checks:18, 8 )
The strange man is beginning to look the worse for wear. The accumulated damage is beginning to take its toll.
Dwal may act next. He is about 60 feet away from the retreating man.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dwal rushes over and stabilizes Kei.
Bjorn dives in again for another sting: Sting attack: 18. Piercing damage: 3
The man bats him away.
Stonehorn, holding his spear and shield aloft but barely standing upright, manages to get himself between the man and the cliff, ready to take him on.
The bearded man, trapped in melee between Peri and Gerrard, swings a fist at Peri. It is accompanied by a crack of thunder. Fist attack: 9. Thunder damage: 31
Peri goes down in a deafening blast. He doesn't get back up.
"You will LISTEN!" shouts the old man. "You are NOTHING to Xolor. You should be BEGGING!"
Lankus rushes up between Peri and Gerrard and jabs a spear into him with two hands. Spear attack: 14. Piercing damage: 7
It hits, but barely scratches the half-naked man, now unhexed. Concentration check: 11
Peri may roll a death save. Kei dreams of sailing ships and shooting stars. Gerrard and Dwal may act.
"Gerrard!" Dwal yells. "Let the lunatic go! We are losing companions left and right just to pursue him. I say let him go and we will deal with all this once we heal friends!"
Dwal makes his way to Peri. if he is in range he will cast Spare the Dying on Peri.
"Begone old fella." Dwal yells. "Take your madness and mad god with you."
"I'll cover your retreat--save who you can, Brother Fiercehammer!" calls Gerrard. Rounding on the spellcaster, Gerrard positions his blades in reverse grips and yells, "GO.! AWAY!" He punctuates each word with a hard shove, forcing the spellcaster towards the cliff edge (southwest) and away from his downed friend, Peri, so Dwal has a clear path to reach him.
Action to Shove with main hand (Athletics): 12
Bonus to Shove with off hand (Athletics): 13
Edit: As he shoves the man further and further away from his friends, Gerrard uses his movement to stay engaged and protect them with his body and blades.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dwal makes a dash for Peri, but isn't able to spare him this turn. (Action: Dash.) Peri will still need to roll his death save.
Gerrard repeatedly tries to drive the man backwards. (We'll call this a grapple; if you can grapple him, you can drive him backwards fifteen feet. Your Strength rolls become 7 and 14. His strength checks are:6 and 7)
Gerrard successfully grapples him, driving him south fifteen feet, to the top of the cliff - steep, but sandy; perhaps thirty feet down to the beach. (Edit: Just found the "shove" rules, although I think this was more effective anyway; you can choose to release him now if you want to leave it as a shove.)
Bjorn swoops in again for the sting: Sting attack: 16. Piercing damage: 6
Bjorn injects venom deep into the man's side. He shrieks and swats him away. Crit damage:2. DC11 Constitution check: 4. Concentration check: 20.
Stonehorn, bleeding and swaying, finds a hidden reserve of energy. Grim-faced, he stands tall and delivers a triple attack to the strange man, his spear flashing almost faster than your eye can follow.
All three swings strike, leaving deep wounds. Clearly Stonehorn is a very talented fighter. The damage is grave, but still not enough to take this man down.
"You will PAY for this!" he shouts, blood trickling from his mouth now.
He pulls down another blinding flash of lightning , this one between Gerrard and Stonehorn. Gerrard and Stonehorn must make a DC13 Dex check or take 15 lightning damage. Stonehorn Dex save:4
(Half damage on a successful save.)
Stonehorn goes down, one side of his face blackened from the strike.
Lankus tends to Peri. Medicine check: 4
Lankus manages to stabilize him. He's unconscious but his life is no longer in danger. Stonehorn, on the other hand, is actively dying.
Gerrard: Make your Dex save.
Then, everyone still standing may act. The strange man stands on the top of the cliff, barely standing himself.
OOC: Gerrard is fine with your application of the rules--his intent was to move/wrestle/shove the foe away from Peri so Dwal could get to him and save his life. If he can shove/throw the mad mage off the cliff, so much the better.
Edit: You had been making the mage make concentration checks for that lightning spell (so it seemed). Could he perhaps fail a concentration check due to those three spear hits?
Dexterity save if needed: 5
(If that spell goes off as written, Gerrard goes down)

Concentration broken. The huge black clouds lifts and returns to the normal Saltmarsh gloom.

"You will PAY for this!" he shouts, blood trickling from his mouth now.
He grabs for Stonehorn. Grab attack: 9. Thunder damage: 39

Gerrard:
Wanting the horrible foe to be nowhere near him or his friends, Gerrard does his best to end his grapple with this insane mage by throwing him off the cliff, shouting, "BEGONE"!
Athletics to shove?: 7
Bonus to shove with the off hand if needed: 14
If he fails to hurl the man off the cliff:
A strange sense of calm will fall over Gerrard as he knows what he must do to protect his friends and the people of Saltmarsh. He uses his movement to go over the cliff with the evil mage, trying his best to twist so he lands on the foe and not the other way around.

Gerrard attempts a mighty shove. Contesting strength check:15
"You... will... PAY for this. Xolor will come for you ALL." The man resists - their strengths well-matched. It's a stalemate for a long moment, but then the strange man's ankle turns, and he falls backwards over the edge. Acrobatics:16.
He turns his tumble down the sandy cliffs into a rather graceful roll. He suffers only very minor bumps – 1.
He stands on the beach, bloodied and beaten, and faces you. "You had a chance. Now Xolor will turn his resplendent head toward Saltmarsh. You will PAY."
Since Dwal is not needed to stabilize Peri, he will move to the both then lunatics on the edge of the cliff (:P). Dwal watches as he closes on the pair. He will call Bjorn back to him as well.
