With Dwal moving up, Gerrard carefully crosses past the trapped door in the floor, moving to just south of it. He pauses, trying not to spoil anyone’s stealth but shedding light a bit closer to the action.

Dwal approaches the trapdoor, as Gerrard carefully uses the latter to successfully traverse it. Only Boko and Dwal remain on the north side of the doors and intersection.
Gerrard and Kei can now see the jade statue as well. The figure looks elven, if considerably larger than a real elf - the statue is nearly nine feet tall. The light from Gerrard's blade shimmers off it, and the jewels and coins glitter slightly whenever he moves his blade.
“What do you see with your keen eyes, Master Fenwader? Should I cross the trap door and bring more light that way?”
He gives a low whistle at the heaps of loot. "Our covetous bard may just have a stroke... Oh, and he's disappeared too. I expect we'll locate him when one of these chests goes boom." Once Gerrard moves across the trapdoor, Peri edges toward the statue. He stays about 10' from it, in case it decides to come to life or burst into flames or some other nonsense, but he spends some time looking it over for clues to its identity.
Peri approaches the statue. Examining it, he finds he does not recognize anything about it. It seems to be made of solid jade or similar mineral; its features are slightly angular and less than perfectly realistic, but quite handsome male elven features nonetheless. Its fingers taper to near points in an oddly geometric rendering. Its hands are empty, and it is depicted as wearing a perfectly symmetric jade cape or shawl.
And he can clearly see the whole room now. A closed door leads east out of the room, and a large, closed strongbox, bound with bands of black leather, sits upon a shelf along the same wall.
All remains quiet and still. The specters do not announce themselves.
Concerned with the numerous traps, Gerrard moves forward enough to allow Dwal space, coming to the threshold of the room and watching Peri. He keeps his guard up for any reappearing specters, but he is also distracted by the chests of treasure, wondering idly how many different ways they could be trapped.

Bringing some light into the treasure room, Gerrard confirms what the others have already seen. He spies no new traps or threats, at least from his current vantage point. All remains still and quiet.
Invisi-Kei, now with more light available, surveys the room. Deciding that all treasure us good treasure he makes his way to the chest first seen. He looks the chest over for any traps or triggers.
Kei edges toward the western treasure, nearest the party. Examining the chest closely, he sees nothing in the way of traps or triggers. But then he notices something odd about the contents: the gold coins have no imprint, and look like painted disks; the jewels look more like bits of colored glass, mixed with rings that look like cheap, crude machine fittings – not proper jewelry.
Boko the wolf traces footsteps and follows the party into the treasure room, jumping over the trapdoor. She keeps eyes and ears open for any danger and readies a bite for any attacking ghost.
The room remains extremely still and quiet, although you all still feel a chill from the spirits you know must be hiding somewhere.
Kei remains invisible, and has visually examined the open chest on the west wall, judging the treasure to be of rather doubtful worth. Gerrard maintains the benefits of the story bestowed upon him by Kei. Peri is closest to the huge jade elven statue, dominating the center of this room. A closed strongbox stands on a shelf on the far side of the room, together with another door to the east. The rest of the room is filled with open chests and urns, overflowing with "treasure" (or at least an approximation of coins, baubles, and jewelry) in alcoves set uniformly along the walls. Much of the room is only dimly lit, illuminated by Gerrard's blade. Gerrard and Kei cannot even see the strongbox, for instance, relying on the reports of their compatriots.
"I wonder who this Holy Joe is supposed to be? Musta been important to somebody to warrant a hunk of jade that big. Too bad it's too heavy to move; it'd look right swell standin' by our door in Saltmarsh!" He hasn't yet looked closely at the "treasure," so he hasn't figured out that it's all fake. But it occurs to him that if someone is willing to leave heaps of gold and jewels just lying about, whatever they chose to lock up must be important. He moves toward the strongbox but, remembering all of the traps up to this point, he once again summons an unseen servant to retrieve the box and bring it to him.
Perhaps surprisingly, Peri's weak, conjured entity is able to slowly, but successfully, start to lift the heavy box off the shelf (at least according to those who can see across the room.)
But then a deep grumble begins to fill the room. You sense motion from the statue in the center. You watch as the beautiful elven face begins to melt into a dreadful fanged mask.
”Beware, the statue rises to defend its lair. Watch for those lurking specters as we fight,” calls Gerrard as he prepares to move up and engage the threat.
