Kei
Peri is safe. Sort of. Maybe. His attention turns to the other snake. Maintaining Gerrard's additional armour, he throws his hand in the air and whispers a few ancient words. A shimmering orb begins to form around his hand. His final movement sends the orb streaking towards the uninjured snake.

Kei throws a translucent bolt of force at the second snake. The powerful beast rears up at the blast, resisting the arcane push. Strength save: 6
It falls backward awkwardly into the pool with a huge splash.
Bjorn flies high to survey the pool safely from above. (Action: dodge)
The massive croc glides smoothly and incredibly quickly across the stagnant pool, clearly interested in Kei's and Gerrard's offerings. It lunges at the flailing serpent in the water.
(Actually, Peri's death save is about to be moot...)
Valignat leans down and forces a skin pouch of liquid into Peri's mouth. The halfling comes to with a mouth full of vile-tasting swamp water and fibrous pulp. (Healing: 28 HP) (This happens after Peri's turn, so he loses his action this turn.)
The snake disengages and retreats onto the marshy bank and up the thin trail near the party. The croc lunges at the retreating snake, landing with a huge thump on the shore near the party.

Gerrard:
Standing over Peri’s bleeding body as Valignat rushes over to feed him what Gerrard can only hope is a healing draught, the young noble comes to a decision when the massive crocodile lands just a few feet from his prone friend.
”I hope I live to tell you the tale, Esmerelda,” thinks Gerrard as he leaps forward to engage the crocodile with a frenzy of thrusts, calling out, “Now is our chance!”

Gerrard dives forward, leaping over Peri, and administers five devastating blows to the massive crocodile. It's seriously injured by Gerrard's spectacular attack, but far from down.
OOC: Wow! They all hit! Sometimes the dice are kind...sometimes they are not. Perhaps Gerrard was inspired by a vision of his crush, the Lady Esmerelda...

The croc contorts in pain from Kei's discordant song. Wisdom Save: 3
(You guys are rolling very, very well...)
The massive crocodile is in very bad shape. It lunges forward in a frenzied panic toward Oceanus.
Bjorn flies in and attempts to sting it: Sting Attack: 18 Piercing damage: 3
Bjorn fails to penetrate its thick scales. (BTW: It succeeded in its save vs. Kei. Happy to explain later...)
Thousand Teeth the Devourer lunges at Oceanus, while slamming its tail at that pesky Bjorn. Bite Attack vs Oceanus: 14 Piercing damage: 18 Tail Attack vs Bjorn: 10 Bludgeoning damage: 6
Oceanus receives a serious bite. Still recovering from yesterday's troll attack, he's still standing but not doing well. But then again, neither is the croc.
Bjorn is knocked out of the sky. It plummets to the ground and remains still, unconscious and bleeding in a ball on the ground.
Unbowed, Oceanus swings his trident over his head at the massive creature: Trident Attack: 7 Piercing damage: 8
He strikes it, but it's not yet enough to take it down.

Peri:
Peri is pulled from a quiet darkness into a disorienting world of chaos and shouting. He slaps the disgusting skin bag away from his face. "Gah! What is-" recognizing Valignat he figures out it's some sort of healing potion. "Thanks friend!" He shakily gets to his feet just in time to see Gerrard scream, “Now is our chance!” and throw himself onto the enormous crocodile. He doesn't know what he's missed, if there's some grand battle plan, so he follows Gerrard's lead. He charges the crocodile, spear held like a knight's lance. (20 for 7) He levers himself up onto its back and fires a flurry of blows into its skull. (10 for 6, 23 for 4) If the beast is still alive Peri will disengage and move whatever movement he has left to get away from the bitey part. If it's dead, he will strike a dramatic pose like a victorious hero. (Roll for badassery (charisma): 11)
Peri drives the spear deep into the crocodile's enormous innards, vaults onto its still thrashing back, then slams his fists repeatedly into the top of its thick skull. The monstrous beast freezes, seizes, then collapses dead, throwing Peri off. Peri somersaults impressively before tripping and falling into the mud. Picking himself up, he strikes a dramatic, heroic, and somewhat muddy pose, then takes a little bow.
Gasping from the exertion of battle, Gerrard looks wildly around for the other snake once Peri's impressive display takes down the crocodile. He asks, "Is everyone okay?" but then his eyes light on Bjorn. "Oh no!" he cries, looking for Dwal and pointing at the downed pseudodragon with his Main Gauche. The young noble moves towards the retreating snake with his weapons raised in case the creature decides to double back and taste his steel.
OOC: Nice job Peri! Also, I am assuming that Oceanus is wearing that special studded leather Gerrard gave him, right? He must have an unremarkable Dex, I suppose.

Gerrard:
Once the danger has passed -- both the threat of the snake and the Bjorn's injury, Gerrard turns to Peri and bows in an oddly formal way. "Though ambushed by the serpent and laid low in battle, Master Fenwader, you rose up and defeated the foe with panache. I bow to you."
He then turns and bows to Valignat, saying (in Draconic, then repeating for the others), "You were honor bound not to attack the crocodile, valiant warrior, yet your aid in reviving the one who Wades in Fens enabled us to safely fulfill our service to your tribe and your Queen. I bow to you as well."
Persuasion: 15
"Now perhaps we should scour the area to lay to rest any remains of lizardfolk warriors and find any items of use to those of us still living," he suggests, "I volunteer to enter the deeper water and help in the search."

Peri proudly surveys the enormous beast dispatched at his hand. But Gerrard's speech brings him back to earth. He sees the snake that had nearly killed him cut to ribbons by his rescuers. He notices the deep wounds delivered to the crocodile by Gerrard's rapier and Dwal's magic and has to admit he'd never have gotten to the beast had it not already been crippled by his companions. In fact, when he thinks back on his recent victories, it's apparent that they've been less to do with his astounding martial prowess and more due to his team working as a cohesive crew.
Adopting a more humble attitude, he addresses his companions. "Thank you all for pullin' me outta that snake's grip. If it wasn't for your quick action I'd be slidin' down its gullet by now. Though why he went for a snack instead of a bigger meal like Master Fiercehammer here I don't know,"he jokes.
Dwal walks back to the group, Bjorn held gently in his hands. He pets the little dragon and responds to Peri's quip.
"Dwarves are old and grizzled and Halflings are a bit tender and full of fluff. That's why," he says with a rare smile. Surveying the crocodile and the snake Dwal speaks up. "I take it we need ta bring back a trophy fer yer clan?" Dwal asks the Lizardman guide.
Dwal turns to survey where the crocodile had made its home and says to the party: "Wonder if there is a bit of treasure lying about?" Dwal looks sideways towards Keth when he says it.
"As you say, Brother Fiercehammer," responds Gerrard, wiping off his weapons and sheathing them, then moving into the deeper water and searching. Powered by his magical armor, he makes good progress and manages to clean off much of the grime of travel...and he might even find some useful items!

He lets his concentration on Gerrard's magical armour boost drop. Glad that he hadn't needed it, he watches the noble wade into the brackish water. Having heard his favourite word he offers assistance. "Do you need help Gerry?"
Knowing that the young man was more than capable, and honest enough to split any loot he turns to Peri. "Do you need further healing Little Snakebait?"He says with a wink. "It's a pity you didn't stick your landing, that would've been impressive."
