Once more Sir Fetherwaite somehow retains his seat under the attack, as he fails to hit Elwin!  The crowd is still cheering, but you can tell what they reeeally want is to see someone hit the dirt.

As Elwin and Fetherwaite charge toward each other, Fetherwaite's foot slips out of the stirrup, and he has to struggle to get properly seated again. The sight is so fascinating that Elwin forgets to bring his lance to bear in time, and the two gallop past each other with no contact once more.  The cheers still go up from the crowd, but there is a note of impatience, and you hear one person shout, "Hit 'im already!"

Del is informed that Ziia is welcome as his partner, but that the magic fiddlebow is problematic. Quentin finds himself trapped inside a box of stone, ten by ten by ten feet.  Henry is still outside. It is your turn.

Quentin smiles from inside the box and taking a moment he taps into Henry's senses. Using the owl as a base to see outside the box he sees a spot on the other side of the box where its in-between himself and his opponent. Grinning Quentin calls upon his elven history before surrounding himself in a silvery miss and teleporting out of the box and onto the other side. Henry makes another dive bomb attack.

Del receives cheers for his song, but not as loud or as enthusiastic as the halfling received. Perhaps he has become out of practice form relying on the magic fiddlebow, or perhaps songs of the city don't resonate as well with these mostly sylvan warriors. Your song is followed by a bagpiper from Nandezel, Sir Almeth Weezen who plays a lively jig. (Performance: 17 ) He lives up to his name, there are more squawks than notes in the tune.

Sir Almeth is followed by, surprisingly, Quentin's fool serenaders. They sing an exciting ballad of Lord Quentin the Spotless, and how he was flying along when a cloud became jealous of the shining whiteness of Lord Quentin's linens and started a fight. Lord Quentin was just on the verge of teaching the cloud a lesson when he was struck by an arrow, and the sight of a spot of blood on his immaculate cloak caused him to faint in horror and drop to earth, and how he now swears vengeance on the clouds. (Performance 5 ) People throw food at them.

Obbie takes her place on the stand again, this time with a tear-jerking ballad of young lovers divided by warring nations. (Performance 9 ) It does not go over as well as her first song. Perhaps she has stepped on some political minefield.

Del is up again.

Raven definitely gets surprise.  The young knight is on the ground before he knows what hit him.  Two healers in white robes rush onto the battlefield, one shouting repeatedly, "Don't kill the healers! Don't kill the healers!" and the other, for some reason, keeps making noises like "Weeeee-oooooo-weeeee-ooooo-weeee-oooo." They get some healing potions in the youngster and escort him out of the danger zone.  In the distance, you hear the annoucement, "FIRST BLOOD! Raven Blackblade of the Fens eliminates Sir Ethen Galasar!"

As her bonus action raven hides.

Del's new song goes over very well with the crowd, and they cheer and stamp.

Sir Almeth does not attempt anything quick and spirited this time. He plays a solemn, traditional tribute to the fallen in battle. (Performance 6 ) He still sounds like he's cracked half his reeds.

The fools, unsure whether to be outraged or delighted at the reception that their ode to lord Quentin received, play a less original, and certainly less clean song called The Dance Without Pants. Several parents cover the ears of their children. (Performance 2 ) There is loud debate on whether they should be thrown out of the contest and the Hall.

Obbi eyes Del as the most serious competition.  She begins her third and final song, a classic elven hymn of praise to Corellon, set to her own original rhythm scheme and stylistic interpretations. 8 The elves do not seem to find her improvisations an improvement. In fact, a few look offended.

All eyes turn to Del for the final round.

As Raven slips quietly through the trees and scrub, she realizes someone is following her trail. She melts into the woodland scenery as a ranger comes in sight, tracking her in utter silence until she (the ranger) steps in a rabbit hole and falls on her face, getting up dusting herself off and muttering curses under her breath.

Sir Fetherwaite goes tumbling off the back of his horse to land in the hoof-churned dirt underfoot, armor clattering and soil spraying into the air. You stop your horse and stand ready as Sir Fetherwaite's squire helps him up and back onto his mount.  You have time to look over the cheering crowd. Your friends are shouting for you.  The knights are applauding, half in real delight that the newcomer has landed the first real blow at his tournament, others clearly thinking it would have been more fun to see the rookie faceplant. And the commoners in the audience are going wild. They are shouting your name, but, having been on their side of the fence not long ago, you suspect they are just here to watch noble big shots be dumped into the dirt, and aren't that picky about who does it. There are little kids in the audience with shining eyes, though, dreaming that one day, they will be a knight like you. Those days aren't so far behind you either. You grew out of those dreams...and then they came true.

Finally, Fetherwaite is seated again, and the signal is given to proceed. Fetherwaite might not be the best jouster in the Westwoods, but he is no quitter.
