Ten minutes pass, as eventually while Shadow and Flame are pacing around the room, searching the walls the spells complete. As Torment's spell finishes the symbols shift and change as eventually they read: "A -- R -- K" It seems that over the span of many many years some of the symbols are simply unintelligible. What do you guys wish to do now? (Also, Marion's spell currently detects nothing, but she has it up)
Flame walks toward Marion and Torment pensively. "Hmm. I can't think of anything that could be. I think we've spent enough time here, though. I don't see any other information forthcoming. Shall we continue on?"
Elemoth nods in agreement, and puts away his weapon and shield long enough to take out a roll of parchment to take a quick copy of the letters and symbols. Once that's done, he puts the paper away and readies his equipment once more. "I concur. It looks like we've learned what we can from this room, and I also believe that we should carefully proceed further." he states.
"Well, we are already close to the southwest door," Elemoth begins, inclining his head towards the door in question before continuing, "But before we continue, I think it may be a good idea to take an hour or so to rest and give the injured and tired some time to recuperate."
The half-elf takes a moment to gesture at Shadow and Torment. "I don't know about Torment, but I only have one healing spell left for today, and I'd rather save it for emergencies. Rest and first aid can help with shallow injuries and combat fatigue."
(OOC: Elemoth's advocating a short rest, which may be a good idea given that even 1 or 2 hits can take out a wounded 1st level character. Even just 1 if they've already taken a blow.)
"How's everyone feeling? A short rest might do us good, but it won't do anything for me in terms of spells. I've got one good one left in me before I'll need a long pause.
(OOC I don't need a rest personally, but if others are low on health, then I agree we should take one.)
"Very well. Let's take a short break." Flame says with a glance toward Shadow. He walks over to wall and sits with his back against it, facing one of the doors.
Time passes by slowly. The walls of the complex seem to grow duller as you slowly bandage yourselves up, study your spellbooks, and overall recover yourselves. Every now and then a tiny rat scampers through small cracks and crenellations, running up and down the mason walls of the citadel. Meanwhile, while you are all resting and looking around the area, Shadow finally catches a glance at the writing. The symbols seem to shift and change in his mind as he actually understands some of them... the language this is written in is Abyssal.
The hour passes uneventfully. You may all take a short rest.
(OOC: Well, enough time's passed, so we may as well start posting again)
After everyone's taken some time to recover, Elemoth picks up his shield and mace and gets ready to move. "That was nice." he says while stretching a bit. "I'm ready to move forward if everyone else is, any exit is fine with me as long as we proceed carefully" he continues, eyeballing the southwest exit as he wanders towards it.
Shadow continues forward with a lot more caution. He certainly does not want to fall victim to a trap again. He twirls a dagger in his fingers, nervously awaiting enemies. "Let's continue, any place is better than here.." (Haha if only that were true!)
The lot of you approach the end of the room and enter the southwest door. The light of Marion's spell permeates the room as you see it seem to expand before you. The masonry walls of this twenty-foot-wide hall are in poor repair. The far end has collapsed, filling the southern section with rubble. The western wall is in much better shape than the other walls, and it holds a stone door with a rearing dragon carved in relief on it. The door has a single keyhole, situated in the rearing dragon's open mouth.
Flame squints his eyes, examining the room cautiously before walking in. "Shadow, we definitely need to check that door for traps. Careful through this room."
Looking for traps from the entrance (Perception): 14
Based on a cursory glance at the door (note that the making of an active perception check takes time, otherwise I use the passive; nevertheless, I will not let a good roll go to waste) you determine that the door is most likely locked inside of the dragon's mouth. In addition, please give me an Intelligence (Arcana) check Flame.
Flame nods his head in agreement and paces around the room as Marion and Torment begin their rituals.
Shadow nods his weapons and draws his weapons, and heads a little ways out to form a perimeter.

"Alright. Which door should we take, then?" Marion asks and looks at the rest.

(OOC: I mean, I could get taken out with one hit even at full health. >_< But I could recover a spell slot. So I'm in favor)
"We just got here!" Marion pouts but then sighs in defeat. "But I could use a rest to catch my breath after falling into that pit."

"Alright then." Marion follows Elemoth and casts Mage Armor on herself.
Flame grunts in agreement as he stands from his place against the wall. "We should be wary of traps on the doors."

Torment is still being wary of traps as well, but is eager to move on, out of the room with the decaying goblins...
