Slowly, but surely, the tangled foliage of the jungle lessens over the next two hours. The heat, however, does not. Aradurk and Rycider seem to be the most affected by the journey. They lag behind at times, feeling weaker and sweating much more than the others.
Finally, the jungle gives way to verdant hills, rolling for miles ahead. More large creatures graze on the hillsides, reptilian like those in the jungle, but very different in appearance. These walk on all fours, some with plate-like heads, and others much larger with long, gangly necks.
Suddenly there is a shimmer in the air, and the lush hills become desolate, black dunes in a benighted hellscape with squirming spires disappearing ahead into black fog. There's nothing but rock and smoke as far as the eye can see, aside from a dome of metal far in the distance. Humanoid figures exit from the structure.
OOC: Mechanically, Aradurk and Rycider's Constitution scores have been lowered.
Aradurk CON Save (Indomitable): 10 Hox CON Save: 5Damage: 4
OOC: As mentioned in the OOC message, Tanakir's protection bonus pushed Rycider over the safe threshold, so her CON score has been adjusted back to normal on her sheet. Aradurk and Hox's have been lowered.
Killian will stare at the humanoid figures. Are they approaching? Do they seem to have noticed us? Are they milling about, or on some discernible task? Are there any dwellings outside the dome?

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Gruun flinches at the sudden change and desolation of the new landscape. He pauses a moment for everyone to cross whatever revealed the change."I hope someone can think of somewhere better to go than there." If anyone is struggling to keep up with the group as they travel Gruun will offer to carry them.
Tanakir remarks, "It would certainly be straightforward to go and get some answers. Perhaps we should give it a try, so long as they don't try to kill us."

While Killian stares intently toward the figures that have exited the structure, it quickly becomes apparent that the dark fog in the area is not exactly friendly to your lungs: Gruun, Killian and Rycider feel their throats slightly constricted. It becomes harder to breathe, and their heads begin to swim as the air slowly poisons them. In addition, Gruun, Killian, Rycider and Tanakir all feel their connection to magic being cut off, as if someone has severed their mental connection to their spells.
Despite the hostile atmosphere, Killian gauges the figures' intent as friendly. They are approaching cautiously and curiously; though difficult to make out through the fog, they appear to be studying the surrounding area, and move with a uniformity that suggests they may be similar to mindflayers and their "elder brain" hive minds.
"Not much use in standing around. Lets find out if we have to keep cutting our way in." Gruun will start to head toward the approaching figures, Greataxe in hand but not directly threatening.
The suited creatures approach as you do, signaling peaceful intentions by tossing small pieces of foodstuffs at you as if you were beasts. They wear strange clockwork suits with multiple pouches and leather masks with goggles that have multiple tubes dangling from the area near their mouths. They speak to one another in an unknown language while taking some sort of readings with strange instruments in their hands, but one word is clear despite the language barrier: "Denorian".
Tanakir mutters, "That certainly sounds like the right idea to me..." before following along.

Aradurk grimaces as he continues down the path, looking for some sign of familiarity in the violent surroundings.

Rycider will take a long draught of her waterskin.
Bally warm wot! she comments as she hikes up her voluminous petticoats.

Hox flaps his wings a bit, airing them out a bit. "Ball of fire gone...not night but black mist...land is so strange..."

(Is Tanakir's steed still here, or was it dispelled?)
OOC: The steed is still here (I've typically ruled that the form the steed takes is not magical once it has been cast, since RAW is not clear).
Ready to advance once the next action is taken.
