Raising her shield, Killian mutters a few words and it glows briefly. Drawing her sword, she charges the monster (but not into the water, which must be pretty deep if this giant thing came out of it), swinging twice!
Bonus Action: Cast Shield of Faith for AC 21 Move: Close with the monster to melee range (if possible, I guess?) Action: Swing twice at the monster!
Attack 1: 21 to hit, for 18 magical slashing damage Attack 2: 28 to hit, for 13 magical slashing damage Savage Attacker: if this damage total is higher, please use it in place of one above: 16. (If a critical, then roll again for me?)

The horrific creature is quickly surrounded, and while Aradurk fails to trip the monster up, his rapier opens multiple wounds along the creature's side while Killian and Gruun lay into it, slicing chunks of amphibious flesh into the pool and surrounding ground. Hox fires an arrow below the creature's mouth, but the arrow seems less effective against its natural armor. The monster slumps, writhing and releasing disturbing noises of pain.
A black oozing substance pours from the Horror's wounds, pooling around it and quickly spreading to an area sixty feet wide. The stonework below the ooze suddenly feels like ice, and Hox and Killian fall prone when the ground slicks beneath them. After spreading the ichor, the Horror's wounds reseal, each and every one disappearing entirely as it moves with renewed vigor.
Its tentacles spring from its mouth, each moving rapidly toward the three in close range. Killian is struck upon the floor and lifted by one; then two more strike her as the first holds her still before a long, gangly arm of the Horror slams her head into the stonework, knocking her senseless. She lies still as the tentacle retracts. Gruun steps aside an incoming tentacle while Aradurk fends another off with his shield, taking a claw against his armor in the process.
The spreading ichor sinks into the stonework, losing its slippery effect.
Round 2 Order: Players <===== Unnameable Horror
Placement: Aradurk and Gruun are engaged in melee combat with the Horror.
Health: Killian is unconscious and dying (0 successes, 0 failures). Aradurk is lightly wounded. Gruun is lightly wounded.
OOC: Removed 1 potion of healing from Aradurk's inventory. Killian has recovered 7 hit points.
DM Screen:

Killian awakes with a gasp once Aradurk applies the potion, the pain of her thrashing a reminder of the immediate threat. Gruun reopens a wound with his greataxe, and Hox keeps up the pressure with another arrow while the paladin recovers.
OOC: Unfortunately this is a Huge creature, so it can't be knocked prone with Gruun's wolf totem abilities. If there is a different bonus action Gruun would like to take on this turn just let me know.
Killian is conscious and can take her turn for this round before the Horror takes its turn.
Killian climbs to her feet, blood spattered, her long hair dripping with water and ichor, her eyes full of hate. “Try that again!” she screams in defiance at the creature, channeling all of her anger into it.
Move: stand up
Action: Channel Divinity: Dreadful Aspect. DC 16 Wis Save or frightened for one minute.
Reaction: if hit, she will spend a 4th level spell slot on Hellish Rebuke, 5d10 fire damage or half on DC 16 Dex Save.

If the monster understands the pure dread emanating from Killian it makes no sign of showing it. The air shimmers around it, and suddenly the exit from the room disappears; where there once was a vast doorway leading to a massive staircase, there is now only a flat wall through the circumference of the room. As the scenery changes, so too does the wounds being carved into the creature. Once again, they heal completely, the Horror showing no sign of injury.
Two of its tentacles flail toward Gruun, but even while the bugbear masterfully pounces from foot to foot, avoiding any impact, another tentacle drags Aradurk back from Killian, restraining him in the air while both of its claws and its remaining tentacles volley into the helpless half-orc, practically tearing him to shreds.

Her hate seeming to have no effect on the creature, Killian's hands glow briefly and she slaps herself hard. Hair flying, she hefts her shield and sword and shouts at it, "Fight me! FIGHT ME!!"
Action: Lay on hands on herself for 40 hp healing (leaving just 5 hp in the pool). Move: She stands her ground. Bonus Action: Cast Compelled Duel on the creature. Wis Save vs DC 16. Reaction: If she is hit, she'll fire off a Hellish Rebuke with a 4th level slot.

Tentacle vs. Aradurk (Automatic) Damage: 15
Aradurk and Gruun carve into the creature anew, reopening its healed wounds while Hox delivers an arrow into the toothy inner maw of the Horror. Killian's command is seemingly ignored; the creature reacts without looking her way, and another shimmer of energy expands from it. This shimmer does not make the exits reappear, but it does seem to seriously impact Gruun and Hox, who both collapse to the ground, stunned with horrified looks on their faces. Hox takes 7 bludgeoning damage in the process as he impacts with the stone.
The Horror roars. The noise is unlike anything you have ever heard, the language of an unknown terror, the meaning incomprehensible. Your minds are struck directly by the sound, causing waves of pain and nausea as madness creeps in. The noise affects each of you differently, but is crippling to all. Aradurk falls limp, stunned by the pain, and while it similarly impacts Killian, she begins screaming involuntarily, soon slumping over herself, incapacitated.
Darkness soon overcomes all.
For Gruun and Hox:
You were struck with psychic glimpses, the mere sight of what is transpiring to your world causing your minds to lock up. You see meteors the size of cities crashing into the Sword Coast, the Moonsea, causing multiple fiery eruptions across Toril. Horrific, shapeless beings rise from the craters, inflicting terror upon those not killed directly by the impacts. All life is lost while the planet burns.
Despite losing control of your bodies, you feel the impact of tentacles slowly dragging you across the stonework. You feel the burn of acid against your skin as you are dragged into some wet substance. Gruun and Hox are unlucky enough to survive this, feeling teeth tearing into their limbs before their consciousness fades as well.

The young man, in his twenties, is leaning against a rock as he speaks. Maverick rests on the shore nearby beneath a dour, overcast sky. Wes is sitting upon the rocky sands, busily transcribing the words.
"Makes perfect sense to me," Wes says, pausing to look up at the rest of the party. A look of panic suddenly crosses his face. "What? Did I miss something? What's wrong?"
You are all standing in a semi-circle around Norry and Wes. It feels as if a mere second has passed between your horrific demise and now. The memories of your deaths are still very fresh in your minds.
Killian gasps, dropping to one knee in the sand. "We were, we just..." As always, anger floods in where other emotions fear to tread. Her eyes flash with that anger, and she stands, carefully assessing her body for injuries, her mind for lasting madness.
"It appears we have failed the latest test, but been given another chance." Her glare is directed at Norry.
