Sorumar will grumble about his hunger, but as the sun comes up, he'll get his gear and move outside, "Let's get going and figure out what's causing this and fix it. Where's that treant?"
Gandolph thinks "Should be attack the presence that is invading this space. The red eyes?" He thinks more. "No I suppose we need to figure out what the Ent has to say first." He sighs and prepares to go out.
Vaden grumbles as he gets ready. "I don't think I've had that bad of sleep since that time I planeshifted us..." He glances around. 'Oh yeah, probably not a good time to bring that up." He moves outside and is ready to go.
As you get going the next morning Hunter pads along with you, wishing to accompany you to see the Treant.
As you journey forth into the howling wilds, the cold air bites at your starved frame. While only a few miles, the journey is far more arduous in your weakened condition, and your nerves are frayed from exhaustion. Along the path are many bodies of slain Dire Wolves, whose emaciated forms have been stripped of flesh and the bones contorted into grotesque shapes as an act of pure vile sadism. Soon you come upon a hollow, at the center of which, hunched over in despair, is a frail and barren-looking Pine Treant. Its form has withered away as it refuses to indulge in the hunger brought on by the Wendigo's curse, leaving you with the impression it could drop dead at any moment. Scattered around it are the corpses of various animals who came to the treant seeking aid, all showing signs of extreme starvation.
"What is this?" The treant says in a raspy voice, speaking common. "An illusion or misty memories?"
Amathile turns to the side and yawns, trying not to draw attention to himself. "I'm not too bad off but I think it goes without saying that we will all sleep better with that creature dead. I agree that we speak with the Ent and then we go hunt this creature or lay a trap for it."
Both Gandolph and Fred use the last part of the morning to cast alarm as a ritual before starting off to refresh their Arcane Ward (58 points of protection)
How about this... Anyone can pick a knowledge-related check they wish to make. if they get a 30 or better they can learn something. History, Arcana, Religion, nature, any of them work.
(You are going to learn the exact reasons for the hunger and exhaustion sooner or later anyway, so i don't mind giving you a chance to get that information through character knowledge instead of role play interaction.)
Vaden twittles his thumbs as the others think on the reasons for this exhaustion and inability to remove it... (He has +1 to all of the knowledge skills...)
Jown Sno knows nothing. But seriously though, Jown Sno doesn't have any way to get 30 with any of knowledge related skills so I will pass.
Jown comments, "Last night was dreadful. I don't know about the rest of you but I am looking forward to bashing whatever it was that drove our friend mad to the ground."
Well Raist has a +17 to Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature & Religion....so 29 :)
[OOC: haha, oh jesus F'ing christ, I swear! ]
You have heard something about this that sounds familiar, but can not quite place your finger on it, or bring up the memory. It tickles the back of your mind though and irritates you to no end.

Qatyra, during the watch, will pull out her
deck of many things
And shuffle it absently
Sorumar will grumble about his hunger, but as the sun comes up, he'll get his gear and move outside, "Let's get going and figure out what's causing this and fix it. Where's that treant?"
Gilra does a quick greater restoration on himself in the morning. Doesn't like to be exhausted.
"Is everyone exhausted? I can help a couple people get rid of it who really need to get rid of it."
Gandolph thinks "Should be attack the presence that is invading this space. The red eyes?" He thinks more. "No I suppose we need to figure out what the Ent has to say first." He sighs and prepares to go out.
Lot's of stuff ...
Six Coins wakes up and gathers his equipment, disturbed by strange dreams and hunger. "We should get moving. The sooner we deal with this the better."
The spell has no affect.
Vaden grumbles as he gets ready. "I don't think I've had that bad of sleep since that time I planeshifted us..." He glances around. 'Oh yeah, probably not a good time to bring that up." He moves outside and is ready to go.

Qatyra nods in stoic focus
Gilra says, "This is no illusion old friend. But the question is for you - what has transpired here? How can we help?"
(also, the greater restoration not working - would Gilra have any idea of what might cause this?)
You can make a nature check. DC is 30.
Yeah, well, it's only +8 for him, so that's a nope.

"Don't be hasty, that thing is not natural, it effected us even through the sanctuary. Let's go, I'll lead the way to the Treants"
Since we're in a favored terrain: Qatyra doubles her proficiency bonus on int and wis checks, so first history for identifying the thing.
History 26 if it's an aberration then advantage 36
And then survival to lead the way
25 and she can't become lost except by magic and remains aware of danger even at a quickened pace.
(Epic level ranger time to shine.)
