Chikra is going to scout around the outside, looking for signs that anyone else is present, or has been by recently. Investigation or Survival: 3.

Vor will go with Chikra.  “We’d best be no alone round ‘ere,” he says.  To the others, “We’ll not be gone long.”  He will scope out the upper part of the temple, looking for openings that present a possible covert ingress.

Hallanann will hang back in a spot where he can see both the front entrance and Vor and Chikra (if possible). He's going to watch their backs.

It appears that there was a lot of activity around the temple a few days ago, but not much since then.

There are windows on the north-west and south-ease wings of the temple, but they are too high to see through.

(Only the one entrance then?) 

Vor will see if it would be possible to climb up to the windows at any point. Are the walls rough enough?  Does the terrain nearby allow for a ‘peeping-tom’?

If the windows are only a few feet overhead, Chikra will offer to boost Vor up. Otherwise, do any of the tracks go in and out of the temple?

Vor will pretend to be a serpent and slither, slowly, carefully to the window and take a peek.

Through the west window you can make out a bed chamber.  The north window reveals a kitchen.  And from the south west you see a library.

You see no movement in any of the rooms.  The contents look like they have been abandoned for a couple of decades.

As Lia observed, the only real entrance is through the front on the north east side.  If one of the windows was broken, then Chikra could squeeze through.

"We might need to cautiously make our way in through the front."

OCC What are the dimensin of the windows?  Vor is pretty skinny.  Is there a frame around the windows?  If so what are they made of?

Vor whispers to Chikra, “If we cou’d both slip throu’ the winda it might be worthwhile, but only if th’ tae of us can do it.  Being in there alon’. Well tha’ t’aint a brae ideaa.”

Krusk, looking at the window, says “I probably won’t fit through it. How should I get through?”

"I haven't a way to open one of those windows without a fair amount of noise," Chikra says to Vor. "I think we should go for the door first before we consider property damage. Even if no one is within, I'm loathe to damage a temple."

Finding no other way in, you enter the temple through the main doors.  Inside the ten-foot-thick outer walls, the temple’s central space is a study in conveying celestial majesty. Lined with a double row of squared-off pillars, its northwest end is dominated by a vaulted dome set with stained glass showing depictions of Madriel’s valor and mercy during the Divine War. These skylight windows suffuse the whole of the sanctuary with tinted light throughout the day, but particularly in the late afternoon before the sun reaches the horizon. At the far end, a dais holds a wide stone altar, behind which stands a 30-foot-tall statue of Madriel with wings unfurled, depicted with flowing robes draped over her armor. She holds her spear in one hand, with the other outstretched in welcoming mercy, and her face shows the sorrow of the Redeemer for the lives she was forced to take during the Divine War. The temple’s two wings are behind interior stone walls on either side of the sanctuary, each set with a large, heavily carved wooden door.

 Although the area, and the outside of the temple looks like it has been abandoned for decades, it appears that someone has been cleaning up inside the temple.  Things are in place, and there is very little dust on surfaces.

“Someone’s been here before us,” Krusk says. He has a grip on his Pike +1 just in case there’s fighting.

"Probably best to check this area before heading to the wings."  Lia says as she looks over the sanctuary.  She moves to the alter to look over and around it for anything of interest.

She will give the help to anyone else looking over the alter.

Vor will move up, carefully, up to the altar; as altars are generally tricky places, he will exercise special care in inspecting the area.

Can he tell anything about the origins of this temple from the altar, any of the carvings, etcetera, usually found around sacred places?
