"Well... the last note on the board said it was on the Triboar trail. It's very possible that Triboar, or that area will be hit soon. Though it's likely hard to tell where it's going exactly. Let's get a map of the area tomorrow so we can try to track it's path. If we can know where it's been, we may be able to see where it's going. Are you thinking we should try to find the dragon first?" Kwisatz asks, a bit of excitement in his voice

Logger's Camp Hit Next. Is this the beginning of a rash of attacks by this reptilian villain?
A group of caravaners heading from Neverwinter to Leilon on High Road attacked by a dragon - all but five dead. survivors taking refuge in Leilon.
A family heading from Leilon to Neverwinter attacked by the dragon next - entire family killed.
Conyberry is the Next Victim! The small settlement on the Tribor Trail on the way to Starmetal Hills was the latest in this string of seemingly random attacks
Jobs:
Butterskull Ranch. Orcs have attacked Butterskull Ranch, five miles east of Conyberry along the Triboar Trail! Travel there with haste, assess the damage, and help any way you can. Ranch owner Alfonse “Big Al” Kalazorn is a retired sheriff who can reward you for your efforts. If he’s dead, return to me with proof of Kalazorn’s demise to receive a reward of 100 gold.
Loggers' Camp. Deep in Neverwinter Wood, along the river that flows west toward Neverwinter, is a logging camp. Every two months, Phandalin delivers fresh supplies to the camp, which is run by my half-brother. Barthen, our local provisioner, has prepared a new delivery. He needs someone to bear the supplies safely to the camp. Return to town with a notice of delivery signed by my half-brother, Tibor Wester, to claim your reward of 100 gp.
Mountain's Toe. The Mountain’s Toe Gold Mine lies fifteen miles northeast of here. The new overseer, Don-Jon Raskin, just made the trip from Neverwinter to Phandalin and needs to be escorted to the mine, considering what dangers might lie between here and there. Once you deliver Raskin safe and sound, return to me to collect a reward of 100 gp.
((Note: the party can do as many or as few of the listed jobs as they want.))
"Am'm alvays ready for a good slag, but Am vould say den may not be best, if Am'm being truthful." Andrømeda says, brow furrowed. "Wyrms are strong, and if vi find de beast, chasing den to de place wie den nests before vi are ready, vould be... not smart." She goes to take another pull of ale, only to realize her tankard was empty, and begins to pout and look around for the innkeeper.
"Perhaps you are correct. I just really would love to see one in person!" Kwisatz says, adding "So then... since none of the further jobs are specifically research related, I shall follow the rest of you. This adventuring business is quite interesting! And even without direct contact with dragons, I feel that it is helping me to collect my thoughts on some of my research regardless. Let us have another drink, and tell me where you'd like to go next."
Looking at where the dragon attacks have been, you can conclude that the dragon attacks definitely seem random, and since none of you really knows the nature of dragons, you wouldn't be surprised if you eventually spot the dragon as you take these jobs. As far as you know, it could show up at any one of them.
(I debated between a WIS-based skill and an INT-based skill for this check, but I decided on WIS because it's not just based on knowledge, but the application of knowledge, and I decided on Perception as opposed to a straight WIS roll because this would be based on your perception of things...)
"Vi ha one det vil be a slag. If dir is a stomm of Orc, it vil not be easy, but de others?" Andrømeda leans back in her chair, shrugging a bit. "Take a man to de mine, take some fode to de camp? They can vait." She sort of waves a hand dismissively, glancing around until she catches the Innkeepers attention, waving her empty mug, before turning her attention back to the table. "If Orc are killing, den's best to stop dem sooner, ja? De rest, maybe split up for after?" She shrug's, having given her thoughts on the matter.

If you think my puns are bad, I'll remind you, my profile pic says otherwise.
Mr. Stonehill sees Andrømeda. When she notices him, she can see that he was already on his way over with a new tankard of ale. He arrives, and says, "Here you are, my dear. Let me get these out of your way." And in a practiced, smooth motion, he grabs the empties up and whisks them away.
At this point in the evening, the only table left with anyone sitting at it is the table that Mr. Stonehill was talking to about Hang-root and later on about someone having seen the dragon with gleaming white scales. One of the three patrons that he was talking to at that table got up and left about 10 minutes ago. So, at this point, the crowd has thinned from a full room to just your party plus two people.
Mr. Stonehill is within eyesight, but he's behind the bar cleaning glasses and various dishes, clearly getting the bar ready to close for the night. It's getting close to 9pm, now.
((You all got to Phandalin at about 7:30, took about 30 minutes to take care of your business before making your way to the inn, and I figure you all spent about 30-45 minutes relaxing, drinking, and eating before starting the discussion about jobs and whatnot.))
Sael sighs, and says "It's quite possible we'll see the Dragon whether we like it or not with these random attacks and sightings. I'm feeling like beating something's face in, so my vote would be for the Orc's first... but if that Logger's Camp is in need of supplies and it's deep in Neverwinter wood, they may need immediate help as well. What say the rest of you?"

"That's fine with me. I'll leave this to the rest of you. But for now, I'm going to retire and spend a bit of time with my notes before bed. Enjoy your drinks! See you in the morning." then turning to Duncan says "Come on buddy, let's go get some rest." as Duncan hops along behind him. He also leaves 3g on the table from the group stash to pay for the room and meals.
((he'll go up and use what ink and paper he does have to start copying Magic Missile))
Andrømeda nods as well, then bids Kwisatz a good night as he departs. She takes another drink and sighs. "Am don't suppose either of du vould stay and share some more drikke vith me?" She waves a hand at Sael and Rush. "Vi ha met in passing before now, but Am know so little of du both. Den vould be nice to get to know eachother, ja? Unless de day ha grown too long. Am vould not vish to keep du from a needed rest."
((Sounds good. You have 21gp worth of ink and parchment in your inventory. Subtract that and then another 4gp from your pockets and we'll say you are 1/2 way done learning a new spell depending on the spell you're trying to learn.))
Rush nods to Andromeda about the drink and turns to Sael. ”I think orcs are more pressing, but I’m happy to help both. I think if we become notorious though, we might attract attention from the dragon and others... that’s just my opinion though.” Rush dips his head, realizing that might be the most he’s said in awhile, and feels awkward for it.
Andrømeda gives Rush a big smile, "Now dir is an idé, get famous enough to make de wyrm kom calling." She laughs, reaching over to give him a slap on the shoulder. "Am net to ask, friend. Vhat brought a quiet one like du out here to hunt a wyrm?"

Nodding seriously, Andrømeda tips her drink at him. "Am can respect det, den vas much de same for me. Alvays something det needs done, folk needing help." She takes a drink, setting her tankard back down and giving him a wink and a smile. "Am'm happy to be here doing dem vith du. Alle of du, really." She turns her smile to Sael as well.
"Well, let's get those Orcs then. I won't complain. If it's last call, I'll just take water upstairs with me." She gives a nod to Rush and a slightly hesitant smile back to Andrømeda. "Guess we'll have to chit-chat later." Sael gets up, grabs a mug to fill with water, and waves goodnight to the others.

Alright, so I think we have an agreement on what job you all are going to take next.
As you all wrap up your conversation and start heading for the stairs, Mr. Stonehill says, "I hope y'all have a nice night! Let me know if you need anything." Then, he turns back cleaning the dining area up.
You all head back to your rooms and go through your night/rest routines. ((Let me know if there's anything specific you would want to be doing. I know that Kwisatz is studying and practicing a new spell - whenever you know which one, kevtr0n, let me know.))
Everyone, go ahead and give yourselves a Long Rest on your character sheets.
In the morning, you wake up at around 7:30-ish get yourselves dressed and ready for the day before leaving your rooms. Breakfast is available in the dining area, should you want any.
The sun is up, the air feels cool, but not really cold. The slight chill on the wind comes from the fact that a front moved in over night. It looks and smells like it could start raining down in the south, southeast (towards Umbrage Hill). Rush, especially, notices the turn in weather and while he's looking at the building storm clouds in that direction, Andrømeda sees Darrin moving towards you all with a sense of urgency.
(Since Kwisatz had mentioned wanting a map, I'll assume that he went to Barthen's while the rest of you gathered out in front of the Inn and he'll be back momentarily with a map.)
"I'm so glad I found you all before you left again!" Something is clearly bothering the Tortle. "I just received word from Umbrage Hill. The manticore has come back. This time, it brought its mate. Adabra was helping one of our local women when the manticores arrived at the mill. Adabra sent the woman here on a horse to ask for help. If you can spare the time, Adabra needs you right now."
