"Hello there Baeshra, nice to meet you. Yes, it is pretty quiet here. The Hall has been in my family for generations, and when me lads were young it was a lot noisier! Now, they've moved away, and it is a quiet, but tight ship!"
"The lodging you'll have to pay for, 5 gold for all of you. And food for the road, if you be needing it. But the dinner is on me. Sit, sit, take a load off, as they say."
As they wash up for dinner, Umbriel will take a moment and privately use the wand to see if there are any large adamantine chunks nearby.
Once he rejoins the group, he'll say "Greetings, sir. Thank you for your hospitality. Here is a platinum in exchange for the lodging and as much food for the road as the change will buy us. I fear that once we leave, we'll have far to go and some fresh provisions would be welcome."
You aren't able to sense any adamantine within range of the wand.
Lord Zymorven responds "Thank you kindly! Which far off lands are you leaving for, when you go? There are all sorts of nasties on the road these days. Trolls, Ogres, even Giants more and more lately."
"Likewise, greetings and thank you for your hospitality. I am called Nyx, you may have heard of my exploits and songs that are sung about myself and my posse through the North. Our battles against the Giants and drow."
Nyx introduces herself with a flourish and curtsy, stepping to the front of the group.

"No, I haven't heard of you or your group, my apologies miss. But tis good to know you have already battled some giants, and apparently came out alright, aye? You'll have to tell us all about it over dinner. What brings you all to this neck of the woods, anyway?"
Baeshra gestures at the group, "The giants are what brings us here. We've seen an increase in their activity and we were sent your way. Someone here has a letter about it, but when we drove off a giant attack on some town they told us to come talk to you about a sword to help fight them off."
Going through the group's belongings, Umbriel presents Urgala's letter. "This was given to us by one of the brave defenders of Triboar. There is a larger scheme at work here, but we need to be better prepared if we are to learn what this Duke Zalto has planned."
Lord Zymorven takes the letter and reads it. Grumbling occasionally. Then he looks up. "Well, tidings from Urgala, aye? That is good to hear about your help with the defense of Triboar. It seems these giants are getting bold indeed."
He continues, "Unfortunately, I no longer have my giant slayer! My son Harthal, stole it after I disowned him for marrying a common thief from Yartar. I don't know what Harthal has done with it, but you are more than welcome to the sword if you can get it from Harthal. He is probably still in Yartar."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Saddle up and head back to Yartar? But before we go Nyx will track Lord Zymorven down. When she finds him she as a few questions.
"Ohh Lord. Lord Zymorven. Before we head off I would love a moment of your time if you could afford it?" she says with a questioning look.
"I know you must be very knowledgeable about these parts, they hold your lands after all and it is a beautiful area of the Realms. I was wondering what you knew about the Giants and there recent activities. Why they are raiding and pillaging. Has anything like this happened in your lands. Ohh and I would love to know the story of how a mighty man such as yourself managed to wrestled such a powerful sword into your possession?"
He proceeds to tell you quite a bit about his family history. "As to why the giants are acting up recently, I don't know. you know about the giant hierarchy right? They call it 'The Ordning', and it dictates the castes of the giant world, with the Storm Giants at the top, and hill giants at the bottom. The one thing I do know is that giants and dragons hate each other and fought a big war millennia ago."
"It was very destructive, whole civilizations caught in the crossfire. If the giants are riled up, it won't be long before we see the dragons trying to take advantage of the giants disorganization, I can tell you that right now."
"As far as the Giant Slaying sword...back in the day, you may not believe this, but back in the day I was quite the swordsman. Urgala Meltimer from Triboar, the one that gave you the letter, and I were part of a band of merry adventurers. We had some fun, let me tell you! And grand adventures! I earned the Giant Slayer as part of that."
Back to Everlund, and then a teleportation circle to Yartar?
The party sets out at a normal pace for the 6 day trip back to Everlund.
We'll fast forward through this trek. Everyone consume 6 rations, or forage at DC7 for the first 3 days and DC10 for the next 3.
OH! Lord Zymorven, as part of his adventuring tales, also told Nyx about his time fighting alongside Harshnag the Frost Giant. Lord Zymorven tells you that his group teamed up with Harshnag for a month or two about 30 years ago in pursuit of evil Fire Giants, tracked them down and had a great battle, eventually emerging triumphant.
Some of you have heard of Harshnag, those that want to can make a History check to see what you remember of him.
When you get to Moongleam Tower in Everlund, it is about 10:00pm at night and you are greated warmly by the guard and let in. Flewen the apprentice mage has night watch in the Teleportation room, but you find he is asleep.

He drags his gaze away from Nyx and looks at Baeshra intently: "What's this now? A letter for me, let's see it!"
Going through the group's belongings, Umbriel presents Urgala's letter. "This was given to us by one of the brave defenders of Triboar. There is a larger scheme at work here, but we need to be better prepared if we are to learn what this Duke Zalto has planned."

" Hmmm, so we'll chase him down then."
She frowned as he mentioned disowning his son and decided that she should say something,
" You should make peace with your son and accept his choice, if you don't you'll regret it in the long run. I've seen it before."

"You think so, hmm? Well, he is free to make his own mistakes. I won't be part of it!"
"I don't know her name, she's a commoner! And a thief!"
Baeshra turns to Whistler, "Worth the side trip to get the other sword for you?"
"Good giant is dead giant," mimics Whistler to Baeshra.

Ireniana nods in agreement.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Dinner is brought out: a delicious assortment of smoked meats, goat cheese and salad. Desert arrives, strawberry cheesecake.
Droop digs in to the meat, bypassing the goat cheese and salad, and then tops it off with a double serving of strawberry cheesecake.
The evening draws to a close, and the night passes pleasantly.
What's the plan now?

That sounds like a plan to Umbriel.
