"Where is father? Have you sent for him?" Taviel knew he would not take the news lightly but still would prefer to tell him herself. "Why did not he keep someone inside all the time..."
Her goal for now was to inform her father about the loss and finally learn everything related to the mask - was there any attempts to buy it off him (could lead to to a hideout of the cultists), did he learn anything about the mask itself and from whom (same here - cultist's informants), have he heard about other masks when he bought that one?
Germain would stay with her for the moment, taking a moment to give a small bow to the mage, "Thank you for your assistance on the balcony, I was trying to hurry over here to help, but there were more than I expected."
Naroth... The guards at the gates just give you blank glares. "This gate will not open until the master of the house tells us to do so..." Many of the guards inside are working to bandage wounds as those who are able guard the gate itself. They do not look as if they can be talked around.
Taviel/Germain... "No one has had time yet to summon your father." The mage informs Taviel. "If you wish to take the news to him yourself you may do so, but I would warrant the sound of the fighting outside has him awake, and, knowing him, on his way here already."
Naroth... "That we can, and will, do." The guard says, softening a bit as he nods to Naroth.
Taviel... Your father arrives a few moments after you summon the servants, clearly found already on his way. He gets a report from the mage and just nods his head in resignation. "I know you wanted to hide it better." He tells the mage once the report is done. "Problem is that, if we hid it better, then they would just come with a stronger force. I feared my family's safety, so wanted it to be hard to get to, but, if they were that set on having it, then it is better rid of the thing than having it cause any more of those who I cherish to be taken from us." He then turns to Taviel. "Dearest, come along, I believe some of your companions are at the front gates, and needing medical attention."
"Oh, of course." With everything happening here Taviel did not have time to ask about anything else, and just now fully realised that if Germain is here - the rest of the group was left without any healing. She hugged her father not saying anything - he was himself, the most rational man she ever knew, capable to recognise and cut the losses and caring about family more than about money. "Let us go then." Questions could wait.
Everone... Shortly Taviel and Germain came walking out the front door of the mansion, with Taviel's father leading the way. The gates were opened and Toc, Naroth, and Ulric find themselves brought inside.
You are all shown to a sitting room on the second floor, the very one Taviel crossed to get to the second balcony outside.
"I am sorry it came to this." Taviel's father tells the group of you as he gestures to the couches and chairs in the room. "Make yourself at home. I'll call a healer to come and tend to your wounds..." He pulls a rope to summon servants, and has one run off to find a healer from one of the local temples.
Still looking a little woozy, Toc goes and sits down on the ground, his back to a wall, and waits for the eventual arrival of the local authorities, and or his friends to show up and checkin. He glances to Naroth, "Have a seat my friend, the next hour we will have to tell our side of the events several times, including why we were watching from a rooftop, and undoubtedly defend our presence here in town mere hours before such a theft...and so on. Best to sit quietly and gather your patience for such things."

"Your probably right Toc, especially when the guards get here." Naroth says as he grabs a seat on one of the couches, slowly as he is still a bit beat up. Turning to Taviel's father, "So what is it about this mask that was so valuable a small army was sent to retrieve it?"
Taviel's father nods to Naroth. "Fair question." He glances to his mage to answer it.
"The mask was one of the five dragon masks." The mage says, but sees you don't understand. "The five dragon masks are powerful magic relics that convey powers of dragonkind to their wearers." The mage explains. "The green mask, that was here, would have given protection against poison, and conveyed other benefits, though I was not allowed to study it to learn all of its powers." The mage glares at Taviel's father a moment there.
"The mask was found by an ancestor of mine, and I found it years later in an old trunk." Taviel's father tells the group. "I was unaware of its magical properties, other than that it was indeed magical." He shrugs. "A couple months ago we were approached by someone wanting to purchase the item, I turned them down, as it felt like a family heirloom, and not one I wished to part with." He sighs. "Should have sold it then, as they were willing to pay nicely for it."
"And would probably have found a way to keep both their coin and the item anyway." The mage says with a shake of his head.
"No matter." Taviel's father says. "There were a few attempts to steal the mask, but we managed to foil those attempts, though not without paying dearly..." He gives Taviel a sad look. "There were also attempts to kidnap members of the household and family, we presume to ransom them for the item, but those were foiled as well."
Toc gets up and wanders over to a chair and takes a seat, "And how do you think they discovered you first had it? Who have you told about it? For is seems strange that it would sit, undiscovered in a chest for years, and only once you discover it does interest start gathering."

Ulric looks toward Taviel, "I suppose the positive is your family should be safe now. Would you still be able to describe who came to buy it previously?"
"Well the mask has hung in my office for many years now, I found it in the trunk before Taviel was even born." Taviel's father says with a glance to his daughter. "I've had any number of people through my office over those years, so it is hard to say how they learned about it, it could have been almost anyone I have known over the past twenty or more years..."
"As for who wished to buy it, that is easy." He says with a glance to Ulric. "It was a half-dragon with black scales, and who wore a purple cloak." He looks to the second mage, who has now joined you. "According to my wizards, the very one that as out front of here during the fight tonight. Her name is Rezmir, or at least that was the name she gave me when trying to purchase the mask."
Toc looks about the room, "That half-dragon bested me with one strike...and I'm no slouch in combat. She has considerable resources to bring such a raid down upon your house. I don't think any sort of direct confrontation to get it back is going to work. If you were imagining such a thing. But, again, even if you get it back, it only puts your family in danger. I'm unsure if a decoration for your wall is worth such a risk."

"Father knows that and was not planning to ask us to bring it back," joined Taviel the conversation. "And may be it's a good thing you did not sell it either, father. The money this cultists have, come from pillaging of the towns." She looked at the mage: "Is it known where the other masks are?"
Germain has been listening to this conversation with a frown, "Whether we return it or not, I'm fairly sure we don't want to leave it with the cultists. Or at the very least, prevent them from getting any more. We may even encounter them at the location of another of the masks and be able to ambush them this time."
"Is there any way you can track the masks location? Then we can hunt it down and possibly retrieve it or at least destroy it so this Rezmir person can not have it anymore. Either way we should rest the until morning and then hopefully we can set out at first light. Also, we should send a message to our contact back at the inn and let them know what is going on, they might have additional information." Naroth says.
Toc shakes his head, but says nothing. Still favoring his wounds, he nods to Naroth and the others. "You are brave, I must admit this. Foolhardy perhaps, but brave. I will follow you, but should we come across this Rezmir, a simple ambush will not suffice. I'll think on this. In the meantime, yes, indeed, let us look for some trail to follow."

The mage from out front speaks up. "This Rezmir person appears to have the black mask, or at least it looked like she was wearing a black dragon mask during the battle." The mage shrugs though. "Without actually getting closer I can't say for certain if it was one of the five masks or not."
"As for the location of any of the others, I know no one who knows any other mask's location." The other mage speaks up.
"I suggest letting this go, and continuing on your own business." Taviel's father says. "The mask is gone, and out of our reach. It is best to just let it be."
