Seeing that water is probably not going to help put out the fire, Naroth grabs his blanket or uses his cloak to start covering the fire as best he can to put it out.
Are you using the rope or climbing down the side of the pit wall?
Naroth, you try to snuff out the flames by covering it with a blanket, but that does not seem to work, as the oil-soaked wood is just burning too-hot. Even as you are working on this though the others start to climb down.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The rope is tied to the burning tembers. Toc goes down first, and makes it to the bottom. he finds it is about 30 feet down to the bottom. Ulric goes second...
As Ulric starts down, the rope breaks, burnt badly by the flames eating away at the wood overhead. He falls and takes 6 falling damage.
Taviel and Naroth, there is no longer a rope hanging from the timbers of the wooden frame. The rope has snapped, partially burnt through and snapped under Ulric's weight. How do you two move forward?
[OOC: If the decent is less than 30' Naroth will use his echo to move to the bottom of the hole and then switch places, checking on Ulric. If it is farther then he will look for a place to attach a rope and climb.]
Looking down the hole, Naroth will see how far it is, "Hey Ulric you ok down there?"
Naroth will look around the hole and see if there is a place where he can attach another rope and then climb down.
If there is something else to tie the rope to - Taviel will use it, if not, guess this will be the end of the line for her, she will wait for the group to return.
Germain rejoins the others in time to watch the burning rope snap and starts rummaging in his pack, "I have some climbing gear in here, pitons and a hammer. I'll start getting them set to climb down."
Naroth, all you can see is mist and fog. It laps at your knees and makes it so you cannot even tell there is a hole. You can definitly move your echo down there though, and then trade places with it.
Germain starts to pound a piton into the stone floor though, and ties a rope off to it, so that he and Taviel can climb down.
At the bottom you find yourself in deep dense fog. Due to this it takes a few minutes of searching to find the circle carved into the floor, but Toc would think it close to where he heard the figures speaking the word he overheard them use to activate it.

If it is safe to do so Ulric will begin climbing down.
Germain waits for the others, guarding the rear. Once they're down and it seems safe, he follows.

Ulric will use the rope.
Well....how did the guys in front of them do it? If there is no rope, Toc will assume there must be hand holds and just go down without a rope.
