Boosey joins in the laughter and replies, "I hope he wasn't hanging by it!" Once he stops laughing he asks the assembled party, "Where do you suggest we start this morning. Should we try and secure a guide first? I'm half afraid we're going to end up with a dinosaur as a pack beast!"
sorry, we must have been posting at the same time :)
“I haven’t figured these merchats princes out yet. Are they real royalty or do they just want to add a sense of grandeur to their station? I’ve dealt with many wannabe noblemen and noblewomen over the years, but they strike me as something more like thieves guild masters. Anyway, your assessment ist appreciated, Sthara, but where do we get a pack mount? In this matter you’re the most experienced since I bet my left arse cheek we will end up with one of the gigantic lizards. And you’re the only one with ANY experience.“ He takes off his bandana, wiping the moist air off his face. Then he grabs a piece of bread and speaks with pieces of bread falling out of his mouth. „Let’s split up, this way we can get shit done quicker. I’ll go to this armor lady.“ He looks at Boosey. „Care to join me? Clove, Funderburk and Sthara, can you get the beast of burden and information from Waka... uhm,... well you know his name. Afterwards we meet here again and look for a guide.“
"Well," Sthara begins, "Zhanthi claims that royal blood runs through her veins–and people who question it disappear. The rest are very skilled, but their lineage isn't necessarily descended of queens and kings. I am happy to go with Clove and Mister Funderbunk to see Wakanga and see if I cannot charm him into providing us some of his information. For creatures, you might try and find businesses owned by the prince Ifan Talro – just do not try to barter with him."
She will leave with the others when they are ready.
"I'll come with you Allister to see this Ekene-Afa. If it's a sparring match she wants, I have a trick or two up my sleeve that could help tip the balance our way," and he gives Allister a knowing grin. "Besides, watching you get put on your arse by a local knuckle dragger might be quite entertaining! I could even write a song about it, afterwards. The taming of the Grand Souk," and he waves his hand in the air. "Or something like that. Might need a catchier title..."
"I will go with miss Sthara then. I too am intrigued by Mr. Wakanga O'tamu. I suggest that clove goes with you. Boosey and Allister. He is more of a quiet/silent killer type. He might make a good addition to your team. I think Sthara and I are well enough to meet this gentleman." He looks at Sthara, "I am ready whenever you are Sthara. As in this case, since you know more around the area than I, I should let you lead. If we ever need my magic, let me know; as for I will do the same."
The sights and sounds of the Grand Souk are just as vibrant and busy as it was the day before. The rain hasn't quelled any of the hustle and bustle. Once the five adventurers reach the large bazaar, they part ways in search of their respective tasks. Allister remembers catching a glimpse of a cache of weaponry through some of the main road stands and heads that way. Further investigation reveals a sort of back street that cuts between two elaborate rows of merchant stands. The back street ends in a cul-de-sac packed full of weaponry, heavily favoring those that have long, wooden hafts, to include the exotic yklwa, a 3 foot(.9m) shaft ending in a long, obsidian spear tip half as long. A few Chultans and a dwarf mill about the area, browsing the wares and testing weapon balance. More noticeably, a crowd of four Chultans cheer on a pair of men arm wrestling at a small table. One of the four is a woman; she towers over anyone else in the area by a head or more. When a winner is determined she slams her fist down of the table several times in excitement, exclaiming something in the Chultan dialect.
Sthara weaves her way through the vast marketplace, stopping at the various locations that Wakanga might be, but he is naught to be found. Asking a few of the locals, he was last seen heading towards the raised section of the city where the merchant princes's villas overlook the majority of Port Nyanzaru.
"We should be careful about others being around Sthara. In my experience of reading stories and such, having men lurking about when talking about sensitive topics may lead to disastrously consequences." He follows her lead to where ever she goes, looking in amazement at what vendors are selling and the scenery around the place.
Before we reach the stall with the weapons, I ask Allister to wait a moment while I gather some collected fur into my hand (muttering "sorry Clove"), and as clandestinely as possible cast enhance ability on him. "A little pep up," I say. "They'll be fighting a bull now!" with tongue firmly in cheek. "Just don't ask me to do anything complicated until this is over, or you're in trouble."
Bull's Strength gives you advantage on Strength Checks.
"That is a fair concern, though it also may draw out Wakanga," Sthara says to Funderbunk. "But let us continue on. If he is in the raised section of the city, we may still be able to find him. Besides, the section is lovely and would make for a good sight to see for someone who is visiting."
Funderburk follows after Sthara as the two make their way out into the rain and around the walled area that encompasses the higher section of the city. The path slowly winds up to that height, dotted by beautiful plants plucked from the jungle beyond. The buildings up here are much farther spread apart and include wide bits of estate separated by brick or hedge walls, sometimes a combination of both. Asking some of the Chultan guards patrolling the place indicate that Wakanga's villa is just up this road and...there, yes, the blue building with the red shutters. The guard also confirmed that O'tamu just recently passed through this very intersection mere moments ago. His villa is a grand thing, standing two stories tall and accented with large colorful plant life. Even with the rain beating down on the place, it is stunning. The main path up to the house has an overgrown trellis every so often that provides some cover from the downpour. The path ends in a small, raised slab that leads to two heavy, dark wood doors that are, presumably, the main entrance to the villa.

Nodding to Boosey, Clove walks towards the Merchant Prince, and challenges her to an arm wrestle. "Excuse me but could I trouble you to a wager? You see my companions and I are headed into the jungle and need some new gear and supplies. Now if I win, I'll need these things from you. And in return I'll ante 40 gold. What's say you?". Moving towards her table slowly and with a cocky glare he sits down.

The woman looks incredulously at the tabaxi and bursts into laughter as she pushes the much smaller man. The push isn't hard as much as a signifier to move. She says something in the Chultan tongue and sits down immediately after the man vacates the chair. She seems full of excitement and says a few things to the crowd who exclaim a couple times. The tall woman places her elbow against the table and meets Clove's gaze full on. She bouts out, "Tzick, tzick!" and shakes her open hand in anticipation of the match to come.

Boosey, panics and looks between Clove and Allister. "Wait.....what?", he shouts at Clove and stands there open mouthed for a moment unable to find the right words as the Tabaxi approaches the table. As Clove takes a seat to begin his wager all Boosey says is "Bugger". He gives Allister a shrug and a wry smile, "Well, it was a good idea at the time," and looks back to Clove. "I just hope he doesn't realise it was you I just cast that on. Milil help me., 40 gold!" He starts laughing and turns to watch the arm wrestling match. "Might as well go and support him the, there's not much else we can do."
Approaching the table I clap Clove on the back. "10 gold on the Tabaxi", I say to the Chultan taking the bets, while at the same time quickly muttering the words for enhance ability on him, removing it from Allister and hoping that no-one has noticed the half hidden hand gesture below the table.
//Deception check 8 to see if anyone notices me recast the spell on Clove\\
I stand there with a bit of a fixed grin and sweating, not quite sure if I've been entirely successful.
Since enhance ability has a verbal component, it's not possible to cast that subtly unless there is a feature that says you can forgo that part of the spell casting. Would Boosey still cast that with everyone knowing that he is casting a spell?
Better not. If this is the merchant prince it probably isn't worth his hide to cast a spell so obviously. Clove is just going to have to hope for the best and the spell remain on Allister?
