OOC: So, everyone is 30ft away from everyone else? This makes ZERO sense. The carven is large but there's only about 50ft wide space the party has investigated and can move freely without your speed half by difficult terrain. The party is about 100ft into the cave from the ledge with 60ft ahead that's 'clear' ahead for those with darkvision. Now in relation to Medb, who's dead center of the 50ft investigated space standing within Henwyn's candle-lit 20ft space, where is everyone?
Milo lights his torch, roll investigation, to find the source of the sounds of shifting rock.
Feldspar's spell fades, the spell's time having elapsed.
OOC: So, everyone is 30ft away from everyone else? This makes ZERO sense. The carven is large but there's only about 50ft wide space the party has investigated and can move freely without your speed half by difficult terrain. The party is about 45ft into the cave from the ledge with 60ft ahead that's 'clear' ahead for those with darkvision. Now in relation to Medb, who's dead center of the 50ft investigated space standing within Henwyn's candle-lit 20ft space, where is everyone?
The way I envisioned the placement is Midnight is 30' back from Milo on the right hand wall. I was also 30' from Milo on the left hand wall. I was trying to give Milo room to search without maybe messing up his stealth but didn't realize he didn't have dark vision. If something chases Milo and he runs down the middle that would possibly leave the creature with 2 lines of enemies to deal with on the left and right sides instead of a line stretching from wall to wall across the cavern.
Ok i went through most posts again and my understanding is this:
We are just over 100ft inside the cavern but i couldn‘t find information on how wide the cavern is. Based on the difficulty terrain mentioned earlier, i will assume 30 ft wall to wall.
After examining the corpse everyone spread out, so based on a phone dial, Feldspar is at 1, Wuldric at 2, Harock at 3, Elija 4, Milo 5, Midnight 6 and Medb 8.
So based on the estimated 30 wide cavern, that puts 15 ft between each person.

OOC: That sounds like a good summary. My thought was that we were proceeding forward, but spread out along the side walls to avoid being grouped up for an AOE, trap, ambush, etc.

Milo can not discover the source of the sounds of falling rocks but a large cloak-like creature drops down from the ceiling enveloping Medb and Henwyn dousing her light!
Medb 24
Creature 8
Everyone roll initiative! Roll a nature roll to know what the creature is as well!

Elijah and Midnight can tell this beast is a cloaker but the rest of the party hasn't a clue! The light in the cavern is near total darkness as Henwyn's light goes out, seemingly smothered by the beast!
OOC: The black box is the beast over Mebd/Henwyn. Each block is 5ft. No diagonal movement. Gray shapes are solid walls that go from floor to ceiling, unusable space.
OOC: A surprise attack on Medb and Henwyn as well as the party readies to attack. As a loud moan fills and echoes around the party. Everyone, please roll a WIZ save DC13 on failure you are frightened! Everyone roll their check ASAP so you know your reaction on your turn!
Initiative order:
Medb/Henwyn restrained
Midnight
Milo
Elijah
Feldspar
Harok
Cloakers
Wuldric
Surprise round ended, Top of the 1 round!
Medb failed her STR check to break the cloaker's restraint.
Midnight is up!
Milo on deck!
OOC: Movement updates each round, please be mindful of coordinates and players/creature movements.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Midnight has only heard tales of these creatures in the underdark, but has not faced one so she will stay where she is at and will use chill touch to see if she can cause it to let go of Henwyn and Medb.
Fear save: 20
Chill touch: 24 to hit (disad roll in case fear save fails - 26)/ 12 damage

Harok has a normal bolt not the rope one loaded.

ooc: I thought we had a middle group and 1 flanking on each side
OOC: I thought this, too. But I didn't declare a specific distance movement.
I would be to the left of Medb, 20 ft. away, at the edge of the candlelight so my darkvision could be effective looking beyond it.
