Once they return to the tavern, Halec will again find seats for him and for Rosemary, and will make polite gestures and smile to the other tavern occupants, including the dour halfling, Chazrael. "I would have thought the festivity would have brought out the best in everyone. I'm not seeing a lot of pleasant demeanor in the faces around here. Something feels off this time. Or maybe it's just me being cynical after having been robbed," Halec says to Rosemary.
Halec speaks as if he has been to Snakeskin Valley and Central City before, but evidently mainly for events like the annual Red Winter Festival. Any agitation from his earlier encounter with the dwarven thief seems to be dimming, and his face is no longer flushed from exertion, but now from strong drink. He does seem to be a man who can hold his liquor, however. He shifts awkwardly in his seat, as if he can't get comfortable with the presence of the scimitars at his belt, indicating he is not used to wearing them. He waits for Rosemary to answer his earlier inquiry about whether she is a sailor, and tries to ignore the strange malaise the city is projecting on this normally festive and bright occasion.
It is four o'clock, a voice that booms in the way of any announcer is heard loud enough for everyone in town to hear it "Ladies and gentlemen, it is almost time for our main event; the great power of our Ruby Snowflake. So if everyone could make their way to the plaza, I'd hate if you'd miss it"
"Gond's forge, it's time already! Come along, Rosemary, we wouldn't want to miss this," Halec says, holding out a hand to the tiefling woman. "I usually try to find a nice spot well in advance to view it from, to beat the crowds, but my best laid plans didn't account for a mute dwarf rummaging through Helen's saddlebags. Of course, had that not happened, I might not have met a new friend. The clockwork of the gods turns in its own way, as they say. Shall we?"
Heading into the town I head to the main events, looking for opportunity. I was unable to find such a ring, but I keep up hope. I see the man who caused my problems in the first place, and decide to speak to him. "Greetings, Fine Sir, Can you point me to the vent, I'm a visitor here."
turning to the lady I say "Hello ma'am, I'm Anthony, that's a fine coat you've got there, is it a seafarer's jacket? I've never been there and I am quite interested in the sea, could you tell me about it?"
If Halec sees the thief from earlier, he puts a hand to his head as if he wants to tear out his hair, and points with the other. "Rosemary, it's him! Look! The very same dwarf from earlier! What in the hells is happening today?"
He looks around in confusion, as if trying to find a guard escorting the man, then says, "Sir, how is it that you are now walking about, a free man, when you were apprehended by the Central City guards less than an hour ago? Earlier you rob me, and now you ask me for directions? Explain yourself, I insist!"
Halec’s lip quivers, causing his mustache to bob slightly. His eye twitches. Veins stand out in the side of his neck. He seems equal parts shocked and furious, and cannot decide where to land, emotionally.
I reply, "I've never seen you in my life, You must be speaking of my cousin, Theorin the red, Aye, he's a black sheep he is, always stealing from his fellows, He invited me to come here for the festival, have you any knowledge of where he may be?"

"That is the most absolute nonsense I have ever heard, Anthony, Theorin the Red, whatever your name is! Again, how is it that you've been released from jail so quickly? I said not to go to hard on you when the guards took you, true, but I imagined they would do more than walk you down the street and wag a finger at you!" Halec fumes. "I ask again, why did you rob me earlier and flee without speaking? That's easily enough understood, but why in the blazes are you approaching me again, now, as if none of that ever occurred? Are you a bit mad, sir? Are you well in the mind?"
Halec makes effort to steady his breathing. "I will not let this mad man ruin the festival for me. I am going to see the Ruby Snowflake. It is going to be beautiful. Everything will be fine." After calming his nerves, he proceeds towards the fountain with Rosemary.
The event begins with a male yuan-ti pureblood who wears a ridiculous costume coming up on stage "Travelers, residents, tourists, welcome to our 34th annual Red Winter Festival!" A crowd yells "Now, it shall be time for our main event, it is time to show the true power of the Ruby Snowflake" Everything goes silent as mostly all eyes face the snowflake. The crystal only gives off a shimmer of light before a beam of unknown energy hits the crystal. It shakes rapidly on the fountain, and before you knew it, *BOOM!* it shatters, parts of it fall across the kingdom like shooting stars. Dark clouds suddenly cover the sunny sky, as all of you feel a sense of gloom inside. The crowd slimed down so quickly, leaving yourselves, the man in a ridiculous outfit, and a few other people. "Oh, no. Without the Ruby Snowflake's protection, Snakeskin Valley will crumble into ruin. Someone, please, help us find the pieces so we can return things to normal."

OOC: I purchased the PHB through D&D Beyond so I was able to update my sheet to correctly reflect my feats and Battle Master, by the way.
I travel around town, looking at vendor's wares for a ring of invisibility.

Instead of answering, I flee from Halec, dodging into the crowds, attempting to escape.

I meld into the crowd and disappear, leaving a baffled and angry, Halec behind.

Chazrael walks into the crowd to see the commotion and this "Ruby" and what she's going to do. "This better be imrpessive for all of the yelling."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.

OOC: I believe we have several players who have yet to post. Are they still all in the game?
