(I am going to assume that we don't want to RP a shipping morning.)
Between food, and the rooms everyone owes 6 silver, unless someone was drinking a lot.
As far as magical supplies, your pointed to a shop that sells magic stuff, the owner is a Kenku, named Coin Hat. In his shop he has two bells, one marked yes, the other marked no, and an abacus tht he used for telling you how much you owe.
For the components they are at price. For fine ink and paper, roll a charisma check on a 12 or less you pay 5% more, on a 21 or higher you get a 5% discount.
Talinian listens to the shopkeeper quote the prices. After a bit of haggling, he hands over enough money to make 5 scrolls, including cases.
Charisma: 12
Talinian will also pick up a riding horse and appropriate equipment. How much gold did we earn for delivering Bali's stuff and message?
Bones pays the 10gp for the spell components, and listens to Olivia and Talinian go back and forth while he pulls out his spellbook from his beard to read over the ritual to bring about his own familiar. He wanders over towards the door as he does so, but not hurry anyone, just absent-mindedly.
(He also paid his bill at the inn. Monies removed from inventory for both purchases.)
(we have 3 people ready to move on so we will. side note in the future if you want to RP shopping we can do so in PMs, by the PbP I think the way we did it is good.)
The owl watches the other adventures as they leave town heading east, then comes back to deliver the letter.
You leave town heading north on a trail, it's an unimproved road, dirt, deep wagon tracks, weeds growing up on it, but it has sign for Camp Wilton.
Once you arrive to Camp Wilton, at the gate to the camp there are two people standing guard, one with a sword and shield, the other with a Maul, as well as 4 people sitting in makeshift towers at the gate, each armed with crossbows. You show them the slip from the guild, and they roll their eyes as they point you in his direction. As you approach his tent you see it is very large, it is actually two tents put together, the first of the two tents is an open war room of sorts with two half-orcs standing guard, there is a table with a battle map on it, and several pieces on it, surrounding the table is a young human woman, an older human man, a middle aged Half-orc, an male Elf of the land, and a pair of dwarves, one male and one female. And at the head of the table standing on a stool stands the man you are looking for, General Ianlin Calser, an extremely short gnome, with short cut curly brown hair and blue green colored eyes. His face is extremely forgettable, and is framed with a chin strap beard. As you approach the two half orcs get into a defensive posture, General Ianlin Calser asks who you are, and you present the contract, he dismisses his staff. He motions for his guards, they come and help him off his stool then return to their posts. He then invites you into his tent, you see a very large bed that looks more comfortable than most beds you have ever slept in (Korba, you probably have). There is a table with a few chairs around it, and a pitcher sitting on the table. He invites you all to sit down, and poores each of you a glass of wine.
“Well welcome and thank you for coming. We have been having some issues over the past few days. And I know who’s fault it is. Almost a week ago, a now former soldier, Ingon a moon elf, was caught using powers to raise the dead, and he fled into the woods, to the north. Ever since then we have been getting attacked two or three times a day by zombies, or skeletons of some kind. While my men are able to fight them off it takes us off task of our mission to squash this rebellion to the west. My hope is that you all could go, and make Ingon stop. If you are able to bring him in that is fine with me, but I do not think that will work out, he did kill two of my men when we confronted him about this, causing him to flee.”
"So the contract is," Gorm says, testing the wine and scrunching up her nose in distaste. She's not use to the good stuff. "Contract is we go and stop this Ingon. Dead or alive type of thing, it doesn't matter to you? We stop him and we get paid how much...?"
After the general responds to Gorm, Talinian asks, "With respect, General, may I ask why you have not simply sent a few dozen of your soldiers to deal with this necromancer? We are happy to undertake the task and earn the fee but I would like to ensure we have all the information at our disposal."
Talinian watches the gnome carefully for any sign of deceit or obfuscation.
Korba nods as Talinian explains the letter saying "That seems well written. Send it off." Then looking to the group he says "Get your supplies, and let us meet back here at midday. We can have another meal before we hit the road." He would then spend a short bit of time finding a stables to have his horse well brushed, check his shoes, and get some feed (and apples/carrots, the good stuff) for him.
------
In the tent Korba sits, takes his glass of wine, snaps his fingers over it as it cools to his taste and listens to the general's information. Looking to Gorm he says "I believe our contract is with the Guild, they will be the ones to pay us." He then pauses, and nods as Talinian asks for more information. A necromancer that has taken out a number of guards and is raising the dead seems nothing to take lightly. He also closely watches Bones to see if he has any questions, as this is his specialty, as he reminded the group back in the Guild HQ.
On their journey, Bones will keep an eye out for ingredients (let me know what you'd like me to roll to find things). He will also move off from the group one evening to perform the ritual to Find Familiar and summon forth a spider, that he will call Cinder.
Upon reaching the encampment, Bones will keep quiet, especially upon hearing that Ingon has been using necromancy to harass the soldiers.
Looking to Gorm he says "I believe our contract is with the Guild, they will be the ones to pay us."
"Well excuse me," Gorm replies. "I thought perhaps it would be best to be clear as what the originator of the contract exactly wanted. Precision can matter sometimes. Wouldn't want to go off and kill this Ingon and then this one not want to pay off the contract since some other dirtbag was the one raising the dead... But whatever, do your thing."
Gorm will stand up and set the wine down. "Let me know when you need something hit," she'll say and then wander out of the tent. She'll hit up the half-orcs guarding the tent and see if she can chat them up a bit, get them talking about the undead troubles. She'll try sharing her frustration about the idiots who always end up in charge who always make things more complicated than they need to be, trying to get on their good side expressing shared grief and such. If the half-orcs aren't being sociable she'll wander the camp and try to find some other regular soldier types who may be... Always good to get the working man's take on a situation.
"The serious tiefling has a point," Bones pipes up as Gorm stands up, "I'm loath to kill an innocent man. Though evidence suggests Ingon is practicing necromancy to raise dead solely to cause chaos, there might be something else at play. But in any case, we need to stop the scourge."
The gnome stands up, and starts to walk around the tent. "You must be new to the guild. We have a running tab, it goes back and forth, work and gold, not sure how it all works, yet, I hope for the next few weeks to go well, I might be able to find out.". As he is saying this he stops in front of a mirror, looks at himself, smiles, blows on his nails, buffs them on his shirt, then picks a small piece of lint off of it. "Now why are my forces not the ones to take on Ingon, well they are just soldiers, maybe 1 or 2 in the camp could stand toe to toe with one of you. To be honest 2 would really be a stretch, Ingon would have been one. He tore through the camp with easy when he was approached over his unacceptable behaviors." And the gnome sticks his nose up getting very pompous. "Besides that, there is an uprising going on. Bastards from Malbore have been sailing to the coast then marching to the abandoned town Ouierbabevo. We are needed on that front."
With the insight check made what you can tell is he isn't wise enough to lie, or even intelligent enough to make up one.
As for the half-orcs, as the small talk about @$$ clown leadership continues the two loosen up more and more. Is there any knowledge you wish to gain?
Gorm is looking to see their feelings on General Falser and this Ingon person. Most importantly Ingon - Do they have any idea why he would have started raising the dead and attacking his own people? What's the take of the common people about the situation? Was he a traitor from the get go, something make him turn or what?
"Thank you for the information, General," Talinian says. "It is very helpful to understand the abilities opposition. Is there anyone in the camp who knew Ignon well, who might tell us more about the man? Did he leave any of his things behind? Examining them might provide additional information."
He has a short, silver mohawk and brown eyes. He has rough, sunburned, black skin. He stands a little over 6 feet tall and has a regular build. He has a triangular, glamorous face.
He says that he and Ingon and him were in the same unit together for about 3 years, before Lief was assigned to the Personal Security Team (PST) at this he rolls his eyes and throws a thumb backwards at the tent. "So I haven't really seen him in 2 years." He describes Ingon as a good looking man elf who was about an average soldier, who was always looking for more per and people to control. "One day he came back from the black smith with a glaive and his skills increased, but he still desired to control others."
Salben directs you to Sorth, a female dragon born, his youngest platoon leader, but she was raised in the army. South was Ingon's commanding officer.
Gorm will thank Lief Ashglade with a wink and a smile. "You been bunches of help, thanks big guy. One more thing... That blacksmith still around? Any idea where I could find him? I've a blade that could use some sharpening and I wouldn't mind seeing his take on Ingon."
Gorm is very interested in a blacksmith who can increase someones skills...
As the group leave the tent in search of more information, Bones will pipe up, "Interesting that Ingon is able to continually raise dead. There must be steady supply of bodies for such efforts." He walks on for a bit more, in thought, then, "I find it interesting also that someone so pompous and full of himself would be in such a position of power. He appears inept at his duties and more interested in glories. We should also watch ourselves with that one."
(I'm not sure where Gorm is in comparison to the group by the time we walk out, I'll assume he is nowhere to be seen after talking with the half-orcs)
"I wonder where the young one is?" Bones looks at each of the group with him, "I get the feeling she rubs you the wrong way sometimes. She is brash and seems head-strong. I've seen her fight though, and she's an asset to have. She's direct. Sometimes direct is needed."
(Also, are we seeing any books around the camp? I'm not expecting much, but Bones is keeping an eye out.)
For was of game play I would say that Grom's conversion with the half-orcs and your guys conversation with General Salben end at around the same time. So I would say that Bones statement can be made at the tent flap door before heading out.
Lief answers you with "You know I don't know what black smith it would have been or if that blacksmith is even here. It was about 3 years ago. We were stationed in the west peninsula at the time. But if your looking for a smith..." And he points to an area where you can see smoke stacks with smoke rising from them. "there are a few of them over there, but they might be busy with stuff for the army."
Talinian asks around for Sorth. As they approach her, he says, "Greetings, Platoon Leader Sorth. General Salben sent us. We have been hired to stop the undead attacks on the camp. He advised you might have information on Ignon. What can you tell us about him? Any information at all would be helpful."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Korba has parked his horse and is walking around with the group as they discuss things. As they walk around he's looking to see how well this camp appears to be run. Are the soldiers well disciplined? Is gear kept clean and in order? etc. ((perception 18))
Did you guys fill Grom in on what you were told, and Grom did you fill in everyone on what you learned?
Sorth has a crested head and cyan eyes. She has pointy copper scales. She stands almost 6 and a half feet tall and is very muscular. She has an oval, bland face.
The dragonborn is found sparring with 2 soldiers, with her two swords she is able to defend herself from one person while attacking with her other at the other, or teaching before switching.
She welcomes you all in with Towleigh's form of a salute, wiping her right forearm with her left hand, then the opposite, and ending with crossing arms at the chest and taking a small bow. "Ingon, yes. He has been under my command for the past year since I took command of the unit. He was a very good fighter, with his glaive that he didn't always have at his side, but yet always had it when he needed it. But he was lazy, always looking for others to do his work, and ways to do as little work as possible. He always carried a book with him, and was overly angry, but I was told that started shortly before I took command.". A half-elf runs up and salutes Sorth, interrupting her from speaking.
"Ma'am, the alarms have been rung, we must report to far gate for patrol."
"Go, get the team leaders, I will meet you there." The half-elf runs off, and she redirects her attention to you. "Sorry, I must going, but allow me to show you Ingon's bunk."
She walks you into a tent with about a dozen cots each with a small weapon rack next to it, and a footlocker at the end of it. She shows you one and tells you that it belonged to Ingon.
She stops before walking out the tent. "Kill that son of a ***** for me, he killed one of my clan's men, and top team leaders." And runs off.
