"Good point. If no-one in our party speaks goblin, then is it worth going down that road and continue on to Phandalin to deliver this load and see if Gundren made it there?"
Naltic, you also are able to regain some energies while the party takes a load off.
Taraven and Naltic, after a quick but thorough scan of the forest and trail itself, you recognize that about a dozen goblins have come and gone along the trail, as well as signs of two human-sized bodies being hauled away from the ambush site.
(Willi, sounds great about the dart - I also think they are cool, and perhaps will come in handy later. Yeah the shield is a nice little wooden shield which fixes on your wrist, allowing you to hold something in your shield hand. There's a little goblin blood on it... hope you don't mind. Make sure you add that to your sheet to get that extra AC - Or is it something you will only wield some of the time?)
"It looks like there are more goblins than the ones we faced. There are also marks on this road like bodies or something big was dragged this way. It might be Gundren and the knight went. Shall we go this way?"
Zene, scanning the scene says "I happen to be fluent in Goblin. I'm happy to try to my best to interact with these creatures so that we might get a better idea of what went on here. My intuition is telling me we may see more trouble ahead"
Willi will keep the shield for the time being, dont know if only momentarily.
also my post from earlier (message nr103) was intended to be in character. I forgot to make the text bold and colour it as i usually do for spoken words
(roger that Willi - and no problem about the text)
Zene also manages to get some rest, and you all seem in a much better state than a few moments ago in the heat of battle.
The party decides to follow the goblin trail. Let's assume that one of you quickly led the oxen drawn wagon off the road, and tied them up to a tree. They will happily wait for you to return from your pursuit of the goblin.
Taraven leads the party off the road and onto the trail. The brush is quite thick and not so easy to pass through. There is definitely a cleared path, but you are basically walking one behind the other, in single file. Taraven, this type of terrain is second nature to you, but perhaps not so much for the others, so you have to walk slower than you normally might in the woods.
After about 10 minutes of walking, Taraven notices a snare trap on the ground ahead. (your passive perception caught it). The snare is hidden among some leaves which have been tossed over it to conceal it. Lucky, Taraven spotted it, and the party can easily step over it without problem, which you all do.
You all continue on the trail... another 10 minutes pass.
Taraven, as you continue to lead the party, your concentration was lost for a split second... perhaps it was a pretty bird you saw. Nonetheless, the next step you take, you feel your foot give into the ground. It seems the goblins have another trap set... this time it is a camouflaged pit. You're about to fall in as you start to loose your footing. You don't know how deep it is... yet.
Taraven, please roll a DEX saving throw to determine if you do in fact fall in.
(sorry everyone, this little stretch has a lot of action for the character out in front! It's only this part though.)
Taraven, you are extremely light on your feet which allows you to immediately correct your footing and evade the pit. You now see that it's about 10 feet deep, maybe 6 feet wide. It's clear these goblins are trying to ensure no one gets to the end of the trail... which you all arrive at after an hour or two of walking.
You all come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.
Zene, looking uncomfortably at the water says "while water may not be my most favourite element, I think it's important we stay together...I'm game for whatever the group wants".
The party makes their way closer to the stream. If it is your intention to enter the cave via the stream, let me know. The water isn't too deep at this point, maybe 2 or 3 feet max, and the flow of the water itself is slow.
You are still all on the west side of the stream, 20ft or so away from the mouth of the cave.

"Even if it does know anything about Gundren, does anyone here even speak goblin? I doubt we'll get much information out of a creature like that."
"Good point. If no-one in our party speaks goblin, then is it worth going down that road and continue on to Phandalin to deliver this load and see if Gundren made it there?"
What i assume, those horses are Gundrens. I find it a good idea to follow. Goblinoids tent to speak common anyways.

What would you like to do?
"Everyone, there is a cave over there. Is anyone afraid of water?"
"Scared? I love water!" Naltic says with a grin.
Zene, looking uncomfortably at the water says "while water may not be my most favourite element, I think it's important we stay together...I'm game for whatever the group wants".

Naltic quickly follows up behind him.
