I'll be running the basic "Dragon of Icespire Peak" adventure for 2-6 players. I'll be sticking pretty close to the actual adventure but if something fun and different happens then I'm willing to go with it. Maybe you grow the area to become more interesting or another conflict arises that turns it into more of a homebrew campaign (as in I may change some plot but all still within the cannon of D&D 5E) with the skeleton of the pre-gen as a guide. You can power game or you can make someone who is a lovable goof all I ask are a few things. I will accept newer players but you must know how to roll die in the thread, create a character without help, and build said character in the Character builder on this site.
1) Only use official content.UA is ok but otherwise I must be able to find it in D&D Beyond site. No Homebrew races or classes please. Only playable races and no creature blocks as a playable race (i.e. being a gelatinous cube) 2) No PVP, you guys are friendly towards each other and your main goal cannot be to kill the other players, no evil characters. Gritty and edgy is ok but no straight murderers. 3) You can be as bland or as creative as you want with character creation. I'm not afraid to re-flavor some things to work with the idea you want as long as you aren't trying to take advantage of my leniency. This is for fun and experimentation with the comfort of having a structured adventure to fall back on.
With that being said, I'm not here to kill you or make the game hard. I will be challenging at points to bring tension but I will not just outright TPK you. I do like RP, thinking out of the box, team work, and sticking to your character's personality. It would also be amazing if you could post at least a few times a day. I am not that busy on the weekends so I am able to keep up rapidly FRI-SUN, otherwise MON-THU I will reply once, maybe twice a day.
As for choosing players, you may post in this thread and I will choose the first 6 that conform to the above rules I stated. The party can be balanced or not. Please provide the following in your post on this thread. You can either roll, or do point buy. It's up to you. If you roll, you may roll twice but show both rolls and you must take the second roll. Point buy is at 27 points 1) Name ( D&D Beyond Character Sheet link) 2) Race, Class, Background ( Start with starting equipment not gold) 3) Backstory (you can be brief or very detailed, up to you and not a deal breaker) 4) Plan for your build beyond 1st level up to 11th level as we may play through this adventure and progress through the rest of the adventures in this series (Storm Lords Wraith, Sleeping Dragon's Wake, and Divine Contention). All I need is a quick overview of what you're character is going to look like in the end game (class or classes, style of play etc). What is the 11th level vision of your character?
Once the recruitment is over and I have chosen the 6 players, then I will create the game thread and send you a link to it via PM. I will review character sheets at a first come basis. If you see more than 10 people post character sheets then more than likely you have missed you window of opportunity and for that, I'm sorry. Don't worry, I will post how many slots are open along with the characters and their links in the post following this one.
Backstory: Exiled from his village at a young age due to his lack of strength, a trait that was revered by his race, Grimadim had to learn to fend for himself. He never fared too far from the mountains though. Living on the edge of the Kryptgarden Forest he would hunt in the mountains he used to call home. During one such hunt he was hit by a wild snow storm that left him disoriented. Making his way down the mountain and blinded by the sleet, he found himself on the other side to the Forest. The storm still raging he took respite in the hills waiting for the blinding snows to pass. It was here he met fellow woodsmen, be it smaller folk, and enjoyed the company. They were to head home to a town named Phandalin in the morn. He decided to join them.
To 11th: Never taken a character beyond 6th so I'm not sure at this point. I like the idea of dipping Monk maybe. His solitude out in nature giving him the Ranger but also the introspection giving him Monk. As to play style, I prefer the RP side of things over the min max fully optimised war lord. It is a game after all.
Like you I can post multiple times a day on weekends, but usually only once during the week. Oh, and I'm in UTC+10 so my times don't always match up if majority of players are from elsewhere. Australia is great but geez it's stuck in the middle of nowhere.
2) Race, Class, Background: Tiefling, Divine Soul Sorcerer, Sage 3) Backstory: Still working on that. But I am thinking that she is on a journey to find the answers of how sorcerers gain their powers especially hers since she was never really told. 4) Plan for your build beyond 1st level up to 11th level as we may play through this adventure and progress through the rest of the adventures in this series: I have never has a character at that high of a level since I am fairly new. But since Taraven has a divine soul origin, she is almost dabbling into magic that clerics use or have the "best of both worlds". I see my character also finding the best ways to utilize sorcery points. I prefer the combat and tactics and investigating and searching everything aspect of the game like a puzzle. That curiosity reflects my personality in real life.
2) Race, Class, Background Human, Cleric (Life - Helm or Lathlander if you prefer), Acolyte 3) Backstory Orphaned and found at the church, Ines is lived her whole life in the church. Now is the first time she has left the church out in the real world to do her God's will. 4) Plan for your build beyond 1st level up to 11th level
I haven't actually gotten to play beyond the first lvls so that's an exciting prospect. Ines is going to be a healer first and foremost, she'll take care of the other players first then attack. Ranged attacks or spells from a distance is going to be her go-to.

For that Jonah was tasked with finding the cause for thise disturbances, as well as putting a hold to them, if possible.

Yes, I will be copy pasting most of this as most of us have it for free anyway. Metagame if you want or just make what you want. Its alright man just do it.
The adventure begins!
The adventure begins in the mining town of Phandalin. There, the characters receive quests and can choose which ones to pursue.
Driven from lands farther north by more powerful dragons, a young white dragon named Cryovain has descended upon the Sword Mountains, claiming the snow-capped range as its domain. Typical of its kind, Cryovain is dim-witted and cruel. The dragon patrols the skies around Icespire Peak, surveying its territory while hunting for food and easy treasure. With each passing day, the dragon’s domain grows as it ranges farther across the land, preying on anything it can catch with its claws or freeze to death with its icy breath. Sightings of the dragon are becoming more common, as are its attacks.
A crumbling fortress on the northeast spur of Icespire Peak serves as the dragon’s lair. Cryovain seized the icy fortress from a tribe of savage orcs, killing the orc war chief and forcing the tribe’s survivors to flee into the foothills and forests. Enraged by the death of their war chief, the orcs have called upon ancient allies — evil, shapechanging, half-orc spellcasters who bless and advise them. These half-orcs worship Talos, an evil god of storms, and many dwell in the dark depths of Neverwinter Wood. In stormy weather, they gather on remote hilltops to summon Gorthok the Thunder Boar, a primal entity that serves Talos. Like the god it serves, Gorthok delights in destruction.
The orcs aren’t the only creatures thrown into upheaval by Cryovain’s sudden arrival. A manticore driven from its mountaintop nest by the roaming white dragon has migrated to the foothills and begun terrorizing folk living on the outskirts of the mining town of Phandalin. Other monsters in the region have been similarly displaced

Hi SlnarLighwood, I edited a detail regarding rolling stats. You may re-roll but you must take the second roll, or you may do a point buy. Yes, you can re-roll and decide you want to point buy. I'm not picky. Take your time, you have a reserved first spot as long as you keep working on it.

I was happy with the initial roll. Not that much different from standard array anyway. Don't want to tempt fate and end up with worse.
1) Name Ines Mayweather https://ddb.ac/characters/28554356/4lxKCw (I believe the stats listed on the sheet were point buy) 2) Race, Class, Background Human, Cleric (Life - Helm or Lathlander if you prefer), Acolyte 3) Backstory Orphaned and found at the church, Ines is lived her whole life in the church. You may still pick one of the roles if you want, that information is just for those who want to know and like min maxing. Which is okay too. However you have fun is excepted. :D

Name: Jonah Trevois Race: Human, Variant (magic initiate clerif) Class: Rogue Class in Future: Inquisitive, maybe a level in cleric. He is envisioned to be some sort of religious sherlock holmes. I like to keep backstories as simple as possible and build on them as needed. If more is requestet, i will elaborate further.
2) Race: Half-Elf, Class: Ranger, Background ( Start with starting equipment not gold): Pending 3) Backstory: Growing up in the foothills with his human father and elven mother, his life was one of ease, learning the way of the bow and hunt from his father (also a ranger), however over the past number of years the displacement of orcs have seen ever increasing raids and attacks of their small woodland community, ultimately forcing them to flee. He sees this adventure as an opportunity to restore balance to the foothills, with his ultimate goal to enable his community to reestablish itself once more. 4) Plan for your build beyond 1st level up to 11th level: Intent is to take Gloomstalker at level 3 and then maybe build out rogue levels after reaching Ranger level 4 or 5. Desire is to develop an exceptional marksmen that can benefit from sneak attacks to maximise damage dealt from afar (rogue might turn out to use straight thief or perhaps arcane trickster, but not sure at this stage)
Might have missed the boat but throwing my hat in the ring....
I will be adding polls to help build the experience and see how we would like the game play style to be. Please check in to see if there is one and don't be afraid to speak up about anything.
Tie break will be done with a dice roll according to the number of choices in the poll.
The first Poll concerning the introduction style is up for whenever you want to consider it.

A little more about Ines. She is a firm believer in Helm, and protecting others. However, living a isolated life she has a black and white view of the world.
She would probably head to Phandalin after hearing about its troubles.
With Conendyl's back story it would be more likely that he would have found us own way here....perhaps heard of the possibility of mounting an expedition into the mountains. Let's see what others come back with.
Conendyl is focused on his goals, restoring the balance in his families life through whatever means he can. The balance of life in his forest has been disturbed and and must be restored. The opportunity to join up with others is viewed in that light, at least initially, as a means to an ends in achieving his goal. Only time and shared experience will create a bond beyond that..time will tell.
Hey! Thanks for letting me join! I'll write the backstory after my son goes to sleep in a couple of hours and I have some peace and quiet :) I took the Find Familiar spell and wanted to check if you allow the Tressym familiar introduced in Storm King's Thunder.
I'm taking the Rapier proficiency when I get the sub-class. Are we allowed to trade some of the starting equipment prior to beginning the campaign? If not, can we roll for gold? nvm, I'll buy one when I can afford it

You can have the Tressym but it follows the rules of the Find Familiar, having 1 HP and is not a beast but a celestial, aberration, or fiend. Maybe when you get further it may change. Yes, gold isn't an issue here,. You'll eventually Have more than you know what to do with, in time.

Rolling for stats. If not allowed let me know and I'll adjust accordingly.
Ability scores: 17 11 6 13 12 9
Name: Grimadim
Race|Class|Background: Goliath| Ranger (Beast master)|Outlander
Hi SlnarLighwood,
I edited a detail regarding rolling stats. You may re-roll but you must take the second roll, or you may do a point buy. Yes, you can re-roll and decide you want to point buy. I'm not picky. Take your time, you have a reserved first spot as long as you keep working on it.

1) Name: Taraven Khalclaw https://ddb.ac/characters/28660856/Sng6I5 I used point buy but can adjust as needed.
2) Race, Class, Background: Tiefling, Divine Soul Sorcerer, Sage
3) Backstory: Still working on that.
I can post multiple times a day but mostly late afternoon and night. I am in PST.
I was happy with the initial roll. Not that much different from standard array anyway. Don't want to tempt fate and end up with worse.
Finished the backstory too.
Ability scores: 15 7 15 13 15 10
1) Name Ines Mayweather https://ddb.ac/characters/28554356/4lxKCw (I believe the stats listed on the sheet were point buy)
2) Race, Class, Background Human, Cleric (Life - Helm or Lathlander if you prefer), Acolyte
3) Backstory Orphaned and found at the church, Ines is lived her whole life in the church.
Please let me know if you need anything else

~THE FIRST THREE HAVE BEEN CHOSEN~
Three more spots remain.
Quick recap of classes:
Ranger
Sorcerer
Cleric (healer)
You may still pick one of the roles if you want, that information is just for those who want to know and like min maxing.
Which is okay too.
However you have fun is excepted.

Hi, I'd like to join with a Bladesinging Wizard.
Ability scores: 16 11 12 15 15 10
Name: Ervalin Lathalas
Race: High Elf
Class: Wizard (Bladesinging)
Class in Future: Will let story/RP decide, but likely pure wizard with defensive and utility spells/rituals
Background: Sage
Backstory: WIP
Ability scores: 13 10 12 16 16 12
Reroll: 12 14 14 13 12 8
Name: Jonah Trevois
Race: Human, Variant (magic initiate clerif)
Class: Rogue
Class in Future: Inquisitive, maybe a level in cleric. He is envisioned to be some sort of religious sherlock holmes.
Background: Acolyte
Backstory: Recently the beasts and monsters around Neverwinter have gone wild. To great concern to the churches of the city. For that Jonah was tasked with finding the cause for thise disturbances, as well as putting a hold to them, if possible.
I like to keep backstories as simple as possible and build on them as needed. If more is requestet, i will elaborate further.
Olloray Dim - Limbo's Pit
Gunther Korroden - Nightmares in the Mist
Conendyl Nirikian (used point buy)
2) Race: Half-Elf, Class: Ranger, Background ( Start with starting equipment not gold): Pending
3) Backstory: Growing up in the foothills with his human father and elven mother, his life was one of ease, learning the way of the bow and hunt from his father (also a ranger), however over the past number of years the displacement of orcs have seen ever increasing raids and attacks of their small woodland community, ultimately forcing them to flee.
"Bubbles the Barbarian" (Locathah - Lvl 9) - Locathah Rising; Shai'ere Delatete (Githyanki Monk - Lvl 9) Rrakkma (deceased - MindFlayer); Saros Rockfoot (Deep Gnome Diviner - Lvl 5) - The Lost Kenku & One Grung Above; Tagret (Goliath Barbarian - Lvl 2) - Tales of Faerun;

Looking forward to playing with you all.
A little more about Ines. She is a firm believer in Helm, and protecting others. However, living a isolated life she has a black and white view of the world.
She would probably head to Phandalin after hearing about its troubles.
You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means

If not, can we roll for gold?nvm, I'll buy one when I can afford itYou can have the Tressym but it follows the rules of the Find Familiar, having 1 HP and is not a beast but a celestial, aberration, or fiend. Maybe when you get further it may change.
Yes, gold isn't an issue here,. You'll eventually Have more than you know what to do with, in time.
