Areus's hand moves to the hilt of his sword as he addresses Melandra "You lied to us, Melandra. You say that you will spare our life if we give you the mask, but somehow I do not trust the word of a liar and a coward like yourself." The hoplite shifts once more the grip of his shield. "Using an unarmed woman, one of the Twelve, as a human shield is an act that only a coward will take. If you are so strong as you say you will be able to take the mask, but you are not strong, you are a weak woman Melandra, a coward."
"Iroas despises cowards like yourself. Let Alexio go, you will not have the Mask, Melandra!" Intimidation19
Melandra cackles in laughter. "You fools have played your part well, but I grow bored with this. Give me the mask or I will take the mask from you. Decide."
To emphasize her point she moves the sword drawing a trickle of blood from Aleixo's neck. Aleixo's looks to you, a fearful, pleading look in her eyes.

Soren turns around, pretending to rummage in his pack "When I say run, run." He turns around casting a minor illusion of the mask, and pretends to toss it to her. If she takes the bait, the Soren will run, grab Alexio, and book it back into the tunnels. If not......well it was worth a try
As Soren turns away from Melandra and begins to cast his spell she waits and watches. He turns around and holds what appears to be the mask. But his ruse fails when he tries to toss the illusion and realizes that the spell is not powerful enough to create an illusion that he can also move. He makes a tossing motion, but the illusion of the mask stays in its place and his hand passes through it revealing it to be just an illusion. The illusion, however, is enough to save Aleixo's life as Melandra throws the woman to the side and begins to move forward to grab the mask. She screams in anger as she sees Soren try and toss it and inadvertently reveal it to be an illusion.
"I will take it by force then!" she screams and moves to attack!

"Well this has turned out interesting,"Callaphe says, raising her shortbow and sending an arrow flying at the women. She then moves 20 back to ensure she stays at range.
Callaphe's arrow flies over the shoulder of the woman named Melandra. As Callaphe moves back 20 feet she is astonished to see the woman suddenly disappear and reappear, stepping out of shadows, directly behind where the other three stand. She is now in melee range of Tisto, Soren and Areus.
"Tisto!" shouts Areus as Melandra hits the satyr with her sword. The hoplite rushes towards Melandra and tries to knock her prone by bashing his shield on her face. As the shield moves towards Melandra, Areus tries to drive his sword into the woman's guts.

Areus smashes his shield into Melandra and nearly knocks her off of her feet but she proves the stronger. He then drives his sword at her but at the last second she parries the attack away.

Callaphe eyes Melandra as the woman picks up the mask and seems to calmly walk away. Melandra makes not further hostile actions and a few moments later she disappears around a corner out of sight. Just before she rounds the corner out of sight she turns and looks at you all. "My name is Calisto fools, remember that." Then she is gone
Drakon watches also, making no further action, until the woman is gone. He then draws a couple potions out of his belt and kneels beside Tisto and Areus and pours the contents down their throats while holding their heads up. He then takes a third for himself while Tisto and Areus begin to stir and come back to consciousness.
Tistos and Areus get 5 health each.
Aleixo approaches.
"You saved my life and I thank you Soren. Your action with that illusion was enough to distract her. She would have killed me if you had not given her the mask. She would have killed all of us to get it."
She sighs heavily
"This defeat, disastrous as it is, must be part of the prophecy. Stopping Calisto from using the power of the mask remains your sacred duty, and her power can now only be countered by reuniting the pieces of the Elpis mask. You must seek out and find those pieces. When you are successful, the city will reward you with: a Wealthy lifestyle, paid for by the city of Meletis, for life, an estate in the center of the city, the right to nominate themselves for seats on the Twelve, without the 10+ years of public service usually required and a festival in your honor. You will truly be Heroes of Meletis."
She looks at each of you in turn,
"Will you do this, become heroes and seek the fragments of the mask? You have the white, will you seek the others?"
Soren grins tossing the mask fragment into the air and catching it. "I dont know about you but there are mask fragments with my name on them, and a Lady named Calisto who needs my sword parked in her stomach."

"I will join you Soren, that woman will be stopped. Next time she will not be able to defeat us!" replies Areus while sheathing his sword. He then asks Alexio "Where do we start? Do you have any idea of where the other fragments are?" As the hoplite speaks, some of his wounds heal (Second wind 11), "Tisto, Callaphe, what do you plan to do? Will you join me and Soren in this sacred quest?"
Areus checks once more time his spear and says to Alexio "My spear as also Soren's sword got damaged by a creature while we were searching for the mask. Could the Twelve provide us with replacement weapons, armors and a few of those potions?"

Soren puts up his hands "WAIT! YOU CAN HAVE THE MASK! Just dont hurt my friends. please"
he runs over to Areus, and pulls out the Ainoe mask, and tosses it to her.
"please, we wont try to stop you." He tries to sound as meek as possible
(as he is rooting around, he pockets the fragment of the Elpis mask. She has only spoken in the singular, so she may not actually know we have it)
“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
Melandra pauses and watches as Soren scrambles to the fallen Akroan soldier and lifts the mask out of his pack.
"See, I knew you could be reasonable. This is all I wanted."
She reaches down and takes the mask and looks it over for a moment. Seemingly satisfied she then turns to walk away.
If you wish to continue to fight, Callaphe is up, or we end combat.
Callaphe leaves her arrow knocked, but holds the bow taught, as if she was waiting for the women to make the first move.
