Areus salutes the soldier as he stops the group "Chaire, we are heading to the plains for an exploration mission. How is the situation in the badlands? Have you been recently attacked? We could lend our hand to one of the patrols. My companions are not Lukos like myself, but they have proven themselves well in battle." replies the Arkonaon hoplite showing all the confidence of being part of the Arkoan elite force.
"Greetings fellow stratian. Beyond is a land of harsh natural whims haunted by ravenous monsters. Fierce bands of wild minotaurs haunt these badlands. Strange rumors come from the plains and something is afoot in the land and with the minotaurs. For months now they have grown quiet along our borders. The Alamon scouts report that minotaur families have been fighting in the part of the Plains of Phoberos known as the Plains of Strife for months. It is as if Mogis himself, the god of war and slaughter, has called the minotaurs together to fight. Be wary."
"We will be careful, thank you for the warning." Areus replies. The hoplite then says to the rest of the group "Let's move on then and keep our eyes open as we will face trouble soon enough." Areus, shifts the grip on his shield and spear, and then starts walking towards the other side of the bridge.
Saya nods to the soldier. "We thank you for the warning." Saya takes out her Pariah’s Shield, takes her lance off the ground, and moves out with Areus. "Well, at the very least we know that our mission will not be easy..."
(OCC: "A lance requires two hands to wield when you aren't mounted." Is Saya considered "mounted"??? LOL)

"I am not sure Callaphe, I think that there is a pattern to follow. I mean both fragments were inside temples." replies Areus "There are not many temples or structures in the plains, I mean beside the city of the minotaurs..."
"Good observations Areus. So... Does it mean that we may have to fight our way to their city??" Saya prepares herself for a very long day.

"Skophos is in the northern part of the plains, so it may not be our actual destination. I can not say it for sure, of course. I think that the fragment may be somewhere in the Ashlands, there are many half-buried ruins in that part of the plains." says Areus "Along with many undead too." adds the Akroan after a moment.
You leave the soldier as he allows you to pass. You cross the Pharagax Bridge which spans a massive chasm rumored to descend all the way to the underworld and belch forth foul creatures. The great stone bridge is the only way into Akros from the west.
Making your way down the road you come pass an occasional patrol of Alamon, the rugged forces of wanderers who patrol Akros’s borders and their occasional outposts. Tisto, being one to never stay quiet or pass up the chance to chat, asks one of the patrols what they can tell him of the minotaurs and where the Plains of Strife are located.
While the Akroan soldiers know of Skophos as it is mentioned in a few ancient odes, only a handful of humans have ever beheld Skophos and hardly any have successfully navigated its labyrinthine passageways and returned to tell of it. None of the patrols know anything more than what Areus said. The city of the minotaur's is far to north but the Akroans do not venture that far into the Plains of Phoberos.
Fortunately it seems, at least for now, you do not need to venture that far north. The Alamon have been monitoring the minotaurs from afar and can tell you that the Plains of Strife are about a two or three day march northwest of the Bridge. Perhaps one day west of Deathbellow Canyon
"Let's head then towards the Plains." says Areus heading northwest of the Pharagax Bridge "We should prepare for battle as I fear that we will encounter soon a band or two of minotaurs." The hoplite, as he walks, checks the straps on his shield and shifts the grip on the spear readying himself for battle.
"I will be right behind you Areus." Saya will remain alert, and to be on the look out for any sign of minotaurs.

Areus nods to Saya then keeps walking while paying particular attention to their surroundings (Perception4 ) in order to be prepared in case of ambushes.
“I must agree with Areus. I don’t think my legs are meant for the sea...” Their recent sea travel was the most that Saya had in her life.

As you make your way north west from the bridge you wish you were in the plains already. You find that the terrain is anything but flat. The terrain is rocky and uneven and you make your way through canyons filled with unknown caves and critters.
It is the second day of travel as you work your way north and you have found yourself following a long canyon with steep sides. You been in the canyon for at least half an hour and you wonder when this one will end and you can once again get a bearing on the direction you are trying to head when hear the clatter of rock and stone ahead of you. You fear your luck has run out and you have encountered something living within the canyon.
As you carefully round a corner ahead about 150 feet away you see some sort of Chimera. It has the head of lion and a ram and looks to be a snake head for a tail.

For a change Tisto doesn't say anything looking to Areus to answer.

"And I prefer cover," Callaphe says, distrustful of the plains.
