After the creatures are described (I'm assuming he didn't get a good look with his 10), Rogram scowls and asks in a semi-quiet voice, "Is there any reason to go down there? Won't they just starve if left alone?"
"But, if they left kobolds behind to feed them, someone will eventually come back for them. Why don't we kill them from up here." Yevele says as she grabs her bow, and knocks an arrow. The monk will wait for affirmation of this approach before she tries to shoot one of the monsters.
Karib nods at Yevele's suggestion, "Aye. They don't look like hatchlings, and the damned half-dragons referred to them as 'guard drakes'. I wonder what it is that they are guarding." He looks around at his companions, "I'm a mite curious to find out."
"Hmm." Karib looks around at the room, at the dead kobolds and pit, his expression uncertain. "Maybe, but I got the impression they weren't planning to come back. Likely they took the treasure."
(( @DM: Do any of the implements looks like they could be used to herd, corale, or restrain the drakes? ))
OOC: "Long poles with lassos at the end; leashes and collars; sharp prods; mock weapons made of wood; human-sized dummies with ridiculous expressions painted on their faces" are the implements in the rack. Some of those could probably be used for that, you'd just have to let me know how the characters are attempting that with the implements.
"But, didn't the kobold's refer to this as the hatchery? And, Leosin mentioned that Rezmir planned to hatch dragon eggs. Having one or more dragons hatch this close to Greenest, and Baldur's Gate, could be disastrous. We do need to figure out what is down there. If there are dragon eggs, we can't let the cultists have them."
Karib nods, "Indeed not. Perhaps we can use the implements to capture the drskes, or corral them, then explore further."
He examines the devices, and the area below, looking for sealed-off parts of the cavern to which the drakes might be led, and for devices that might be used to retrain or leash them.
(( Is there a more restrictive pen they could be taken to, and could the devices be used to restrain the drakes by chaining them to a wall, pillar etc ? ))
OOC: The pit itself looks like it's one open area, cut off only by the ledge the party is standing on and the gate next to the stairs. I'll also post an overall map with labels again.
Any of the characters would be able to try using some of the implements on the wall, "try" being the key word, so long as I know what they're attempting.
Smoke looks at Karib Capture them? Im not sure thats a good idea but we might be able to restrain them.
Looking around a moment he rubs his chin. We could use the sharp prods to lure them with meat from the room we just found. Then use the long poles with lasso's to get a grip on them. We can do all that without going down i think.
But im not sure what to do with them after. It seems dangerous to enter the lower area with them. Who knows what they are trained to do on sight of anything thats not a kobold.
Karib winces and looks back into the pit, "Restraining them is what I was hoping for. Get a grip on them and chain them up. It's either that or kill them, and the killing of defenceless animals does not bring me joy."
He then moves to assist anyone willing to try to restrain the creatures.
Yevele will grab one of the long poles with a lasso, and will descend the steps until she is standing at the gate. The monk will see if she can stick the pole with the lasso through the gate, and will try to get the lasso around the head of one of the drakes. If it looks like the drakes can attack her while Yevele is standing on the opposite side of the gate, the monk will not attempt to lasso the drake from there.
The drakes maintain a fair distance from the gate as Yevele descends, much too far away for anything to be done through the closed gate. The drakes' hackles are raised as they eye the monk, emitted a grating, growling noise mixed with draconic clicking.
Seeing Yevele try to lasso the drakes Smoke notices they are wary of her and keep their distance.
He looks around to see how he could lure them for her. Then notices the dead kobolds at the ledge. Karib can you toss these over the ledge?
While Karib helps with the kobolds Smoke he will rub his hands together mumbling Withthe scent of meat i will guide your feet. he says moving his hands closer to his mouth, then blows air out as puffs of scented air appear near the drakes and moving closer to the kobolds.
If the drakes move closer Smoke will call out just loud enough for Yevele Try it now!
Using Karibs offer of help for the bodies since hes stronger than Smoke. And casting Prestidigitation to create scent (odor) of meat that Smoke feels the drakes would find irresistible. Im assuming DM will roll whatever check might be needed with Karibs help.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Sorry for the delay everyone, my weekend was a nightmare but posting should be regular this week.

For Rogram:
The tunnel ahead of you winds upward for about 30 feet before opening up into another large room. Flickering lamplight can be seen up ahead, casting dim light down toward you. You notice that the ceiling at the end of the stairs looks like it is barely held together; essentially, it is nothing more than a loose jumble of boulders barely held in place, rather than the natural stone ceiling of the rest of the cavern.
Smoke's illusory scent seems to stoke curiosity in the drakes, each of the three looking curiously toward the gate where Yevele stands. One of the creatures, despite still growling and snarling at the unfamiliar visitors, approaches cautiously. Yevele is able to use the pole to shift the lasso around the drake's torso, pulling with Karib to tighten it and restrain it quickly. The snare works, looping around the creature and holding it in place, but the sudden captivity pushes it into a frenzy. Growling, snapping, thrashing, and rolling its body around, the drake wrenches the pole out of both Yevele and Karib's hand, pulling it through the closed gate and retreating further into the pit, taking refuge behind a pillar, where it lays with the lasso still looped around it. The strength and ferocity of the creature is remarkable.
Rogram, wielding shield and sword, slowly moves up the stairs, being very watchful (and also listening) for any creature ahead and also looking for traps in case the ceiling of held-together rocks is actually ready to fall on an unsuspecting visitor.
Karib looks around for any other means of capturing or coraling the creatures. He looks for another pole that might reach, or another gate that might lock them in a portion of the area. Failing that he sheugs and throws one of the kobold bodies into the pit near the gate, hoping to attract one closer. "Waste not, want not, as they say."

Smoke looks at the creatures then responds to the others. These will not be easy to slay. They are stronger than the drakes used to attack Greenest.
He paces a bit watching what he can still see below. They are not true dragons but they seem to be some descendant of dragons.
Guard drakes? They were gathering gold for the dragon queen. Perhaps they are intended to guard her treasures.

At the mention of using the implements, Rogram walks over to the rack and looks at what's available.
Does he think he can use anything as it is intended?

To hit (not sure if this is the correct role): 10
