Karib's heart sinks as Rogram relates his tale. "Now, it would seem, we are probably all marked as likely spies." He sighs deeply, "At least any who are your known associates."
He busies himself tending to the ale and cleaning the mugs while he thinks. He can't see a obvious way forward, and tries not to glance at the woman or the dragon worshipers. "I knew you were up to something, but I wasn't sure what it was. Probably best to watch your back and discuss any other plans before you act on them."
In the morning, when news of Akira's missing book comes, Karib shares his head. "More than one fool in the caravan it seems."
@DM Depending on time of day that the news arrives, Karib may choose to learn Locate Object.
From a quick look at his boots, Aldor's shoe size does look like it could be a fit for the prints you've found, though you are not certain that it's an exact match. You are confident that the prints do seem to come from a human around Aldor's size, however.
For Karib:
OOC: Akira would discover this first thing in the morning when she would be going to prepare her own spells for the day, so I'd rule that you have time to prepare locate object this morning.
“Go easy on him, Karib, we don’t know they have him, or any of us marked as spies. More just tough luck with women.”He gives Rogram a wicked smile, but then thinks about Carlon’s story and looks at the others “But maybe we should watch our backs, just in case.”
After examining the tracks, Merric leans over at whispers to Akira “The tracks are close to his, but tough to say if it is an exact match, it could be anyone roughly the same size.”
Karib winces at Akira's rebuke, then stares at Rogram. "Aye, you're right. I was harsh. The lad saved my life, and I like his father. I'm worried at the risks he takes. I don't want to be explaining Rogram's death when we find his father."
He turns to Rogram, "Sorry lad. Try to be more careful, though."
As he goes through his morning rituals, Karib takes a moment to consider the missing spell book and requests a slight variation in the favours that Gond grants him. He listens to the discussion with Aldor, trying to get some insight into what the man's involvement might be but as the discussions with Aldor becomes bogged down in denial, he closes his eyes and spends a moment to clear his head before seeking Gond's aid in finding the book.
The spell directs Karib to an object that is indeed within 1,000 feet. The senses of his divine magic point him in the direction of the main camp, where travelers are still tearing down tents and rolling up bedrolls, in preparation for the caravan's imminent departure.
By this point, Nyerhite has rumbled out of his wagon, unleashing a mighty yawn. "Akira, my dear, what is the holdup this morning, and why is this man pestering you again?" he asks, casting a frown over the scene in front of him.
Karib opens his eyes, remaining focus on the insights granted by Gond, and leans in close to Akira. "I think I can find the missing book," he says quietly, and points in the direction of the camp.
OOC: Apologies to all for tardiness - wedding last week and trying to arrange my wife's 50th birthday party this weekend that I have been planning for weeks...
Akira looks at Karib as though he'd cast a Wish spell.
"My dear Karib - I would very much ask if you would do so. Thank you so much for this. What can I do to help?"

Karib smiles, "I think all that is required is that you follow me...and be diplomatic when we get to wherever it is that we are going." He shrugs and with a glance at the others moves off, following his sense of the book's current location.
As Karib prepares to lead Akira away, Rogram gives Aldor's shoulder a shove. "Come on. We're not done with you yet." He walks behind the man, escorting him after the others.
Aldor looks aghast back at Rogram after the shoulder shove. "How dare--what is--" he narrows his eyes as he puts two and two together, whirling on Akira. "You believe me to be some sort of low-lying crook? Why, I never!" he exclaims, though he dares not put up more resistance against the well-armed party.
Karib's arcane senses point him in the direction of the edge of camp, where a human family of three is tearing down their tent. The father and teenage son maneuver the tent off of its poles and are in the process of folding it, while the mother beats dust off the bedrolls.
Merric falls in on the other side, placing Aldor between Rogram and himself. “Save your protests. Let’s just take a little walk, and you should hope that we don’t find it among your things.” Merric follows Karib and the others across the camp. As they approach their destination, Merric scans the campsite for signs of anything out of the ordinary, content to hang back and support Karib and Akira.
Karib clears his throat and looks around the camp site, trying to focus his mind on the location of the book. He smiles as warmly as he can, well aware of his less-than-welcoming visage. "Excuse me," he says, "my name is Karib.."
Moving forward slowly, he follows his other-worldly sense of the books location.
"I believe that an item belonging to one of the caravan guards has somehow made it's way here. Inadvertently, I'm sure."
He continues to move forward, following the impulses that Gond sends to him. "I'm sure it's a misunderstanding, but we would like to retrieve it."
"Do you know anything about such a thing?"
His eyes scan the group, lingering on the child but returning quickly to look from one parent to the other and back.
Does he sense anything from the people? Guilt, shock, confusion?
"Whatever business you have here, it's not with us," the man says, jolting upright. "We didn't do nothin' to cause any trouble and we don't want--"
"Dear, it's fine," his wife cuts him off. "What do you need? We don't have much, just our tents, our food, and our packs."
For Karib:
Your early read on the situation is that the man is attempting to hide his fear with posturing, the woman is wary but calm, and their son seems very nervous and intimidated with his silence.
Karib lifts both hands up palms outwards, and stops moving forward, "We mean no trouble, nor harm," he says glancing briefly to the side at the child. His eyes then drift over the woman with a nod and a weary smile, before settling on the man again -- the one who seems most likely to turn into a threat with little notice.
He waits a moment, focusing on exactly where the book lies before continuing in a calm tone, "There is a thing that does not belong here. It's just over there..." he says, pointing. "...all we need to do is retrieve it, and we'll be on our way."
"In my son's pack?" the woman asks incredulously, turning to stare at her boy, who has stayed still and quiet throughout the conversation.
"Absolutely not!" Her husband shouts, stepping to put himself between his family and the caravan guards. "You will not be rummaging through our belongings in some pretext of stolen goods--"
"Dad! It's fine," the teenage human finally speaks up. His father turns to him in shock, then steps back and watches as the party procures Akira's spellbook from the boy's pack. The boy scratches the back of his neck, consternation etched on his face as he watches.
