Feeling a slight piercing pain in his temple, Carilius gathers his thoughts and quickly extends out his arms, fingers pointing towards the ooze and casts Eldritch Blast, sending two beams of crackling energy towards it
The first punch lands, causing the gelatinous form to oscillate, the follow up comes in from the opposite direction creating destructive interference and blowing the oozes form into a fine grey paste.
A second or two pass. Nothing else emerges from the water. Approaching the statue again, The statue’s arm broke off long ago and rests now against the west wall, concealed beneath the dark water.
The statue’s head is hollow, with holes for eyes and a larger hole for its fanged mouth. Further inspection reveals that the head has screw threads and is removable. Previous adventurers managed to unscrew it halfway before being scared off by the gray ooze. Unscrewing and removing the head exposes a hidden, charred compartment in the statue’s neck. The compartment contains melted wax from candles that were used to illuminate the statue’s head like a jack-o’-lantern.
Eoan notices three things as he shakes the grey gloop from his hands. Firstly, it stings a little, like it would be corrosive to metal. Second the statue opposite has two eye holes that look like the statue is hollow. Thirdly there’s shuffling footsteps to the left down the stairs.
At the bottom of the stairs you see the shadowy outlines of two large goblinoids withdrawing from behind some of the many pillars and into a side tunnel heading west.
Deciding to let the shadows alone for now, no doubt some kind of trap, you head back to the secret door you spotted behind one of the bas-reliefs. You find the locking mechanism but you’ll need thieves tools to pick it.
Seeing no trap Leowin gets to work and in less than a minute he has the mechanism open and is gently pulling the door open towards him.
The door leads to another room. An unadorned wooden armor stand rests in the middle of the room, (to Carilius) with a faintly glowing longsword stabbed into it. At the base of the stand lie the skeletal remains of a hand, amid stains of dried blood.
Echoes of distant voices occasionally fill the room, emanating from 10-inch-long, 5-inch wide vents in the ceiling
You surmise that it has an enchantment that gives off light when activated but what other enchantments it may have you cannot tell just by looking at it

You walk back into the previous chamber with nothing but a sore head and goo on your hands.

Flipping the hood of his cloak up Eoan takes note of the footsteps and carefully sneaks to take a peek at where they may be coming from.

Leowin moves up to the door warily, wondering if it is protected by a trap or hidden mechanism.

(OOC assuming there isn't one:)
Leowin kneels at the door and beings to work on the lock, his delicate fingers testing and manipulating the mechanism.

Ahhh what the hell Carilius takes hole of the sword and pulls it from the stand
The sword slips easily from the stand, it gives off a white glow in a 15ft radius.
