Irommek recalls very well the stories his grandfather narrated for him when he was a youngling. Stories about the dwarven gods and their home-kingdom in the Outer Planes. The Beastlands isn't a dream-place for dwarves because of the children of Moradin prefers stone- and metal-works. The Beastlands is more a place of animals but a least was a plane for good-hearted beings.
The stories of Irommek's grandfather would surely be fascinating to hear. However, Kurma has studied the Cosmology of the Multiverse and knows things from another perspective. The Outer Planes, specifically, are not only entirely new worlds but also the actual manifestations of beliefs. The Beastlands is the plane of Nature incarnate, where everything is wild and untamed. The alignment there falls in the spectrum of neutral/chaotic good.
Gertrude listens fascinated as the evening turns into the night. She has never heard anything even remotely similar. Going through planes and portals is completely new to her. "I like to have my two feet on the ground."She grumbles. But she is also very aware that time is at the essence and that they need to get to Hrakmar as quickly as possible.
She asks Iason: "Is there a quick way back as well? Can we travel from Hrakmar to Omu?"
Then she settles in at the fire while the stories fly and listens intently. She partakes very sparingly with the ale and keeps to her water skin.
Iason:"Even if you know exactly where Omu is, no, as I mentioned, magical portals are not this convenient. This one opens up only on a full moon, and its position may change. This is how Ubtao wanted. Once you have dealt with Hrakmar, you have to find your own way to Omu."
"Well either way traveling to the Plane of Beast is a lot faster and maybe less dangerous that tracking through the jungle. If the full moon is in three days when is the next time the portal will open? The only negative thing I see is that we may pop up somewhere else on Chult..."
"So will be stuck in the Plane of Beast for 28 day before we can even leave it..."
OOC LOL, no, just to clarify: Yes the portal is closed for 28 days, but the goal is to find this ape which will be able to send you back without a portal.

Iason: " I should also declare my 'condition' openly. I am a lycanthrope, a werebear, specifically. At full moon, I change into a human-bear, but I am not dangerous. "

Brunella is very interested in this. What is a "werebeast?". I too have some aspects of beasts within me. She explains that when she fights, she sometimes begins to feel like an eagle. She does not know why. This only started happening in the last few days with her companions. Am I a lyncanthrope too? Am I part beast? She asks.
OOC: Brunella is not educated and doesn't know or understand her Barbarian powers.

Iason:"In a way, we are similar, yes. We share the spirit of our own animal. However, lycanthropy forces the host to take literally the form of the animal, on a full moon. Or when I choose to do so. Alas, not all the forms of lycanthropy are benign."

That does not sound so bad, thinks Brunella. She nods. So you become a bear? Do you wish this condition? Are you happy with it? Or would you escape it if you could?

Iason, with a genuine smile: "HA! You will see how handsome I am with the fur soon enough! I see it as a gift. I would not cure it even if I could. Alas, I wish people see beyond the jaws and claws."

I want to see it. Something about this calls to me. I wonder if I can be like you one day.
While waiting for the three days to pass, Gertrude has a nightmare. She never had one so real. And terrifying.
In the nightmare, Gertrude was standing right on the top of the Heart of Ubtao, the earth-mote floating over the Aldani Basin. And she was looking over the entire jungle of Chult. Or what remained of it. The jungle has been set on fire, the trees, once majestic, now become black firebrands. Throughout this desolation, an army was passing. Fierce. Steady. Carrying the banners of the Flaming Fist. But the worst part is that all her companions were part of that army.
