"I'm small. I can do a quick scout ahead. Or we can just roll the tree over and all go at once. Honestly, I'm a fan of either option, though I am better equipped to scout ahead."

Symon will nod his head in a pretentiously grandiose manner, "Alton speaks with expertise I warrant, I should agree that scouting out the lie of the land, so to speak, would behoove us all, uh, hem.  Give us the position of surprising these scummy critters.  I can certainly watch the flanks from amidst us, for I am by no means a rough and tumble sort of fellow."  He lets sllip a bit of a sickly grin that fades almost as soon as it appeared.  "I dislike greatly the sight of my own blood," he adds with a shudder.

 "That's fine by me, I'm happy to get my hands dirty, a bit of rough and tumble might make me feel a bit better about this whole situation....."

Darius simply nodded and grunted. Adding, "Alton seems to know himself well enough to scout ahead, so sure. Don't take too long though, I'm not just going to sit by and wait forever."

Alton grins. "I'll be back in a jiff. 10 minutes, in and out. And if I get caught, I'll yell. If I see something before I'm caught, I'll come back." He looks over at everyone and nods. "If we're all in agreement on the plan then?"

Gimbel nods “let the morning lord guide you Alton,” he casts Guidance on Alton.

Alton nods and smiles. "Glittergold is on my side, though having two gods helping is certainly welcome." He gives a quick laugh before the mirth dies in his eyes as he goes into 'serious' mode. He hops over the fallen tree and starts making his way down the hidden passage... moving as sneakily as he can.

Well, that's hardly anything. Alton carefully moves to disarm the snare, drawing his thieves' tools to aid him if it is necessary.

"These are the kind of little buggers that robbed me when I came down this way, to Phandalon, ummmm, Phundalever ... whatever; anyway, I hate the little scats.  Ought to be turned into fertilizer for poisonous mushrooms, or something equally distinguished.

"Anybody know much about their depredations round here?"  He polishes the tip of his finger, points it at a nearby tree and says, "Zap!"  Then looks around as if he were expecting a cookie or something for a magnificent performance.  Seeing few, if any, awed expressions he scan the trees for any hostile leaves and whatnot.

Darius shrugged. "I've come across a few of them, but not too often. Not many goblins on the seas, least not where we sailed." He punctuated the last bit with a gruff half-laugh.

"I had come across them a few times in service of my clan's war band. They raid, and carry on. The ones we came across were cowards, preferring hit and run tactics, or harrying the defenceless. I wouldn't even waste them on plants as fertiliser........ The fewer goblins on the world the better"

  You don’t need any check to disarm it, you just cut the snare.  After a bit more walking, you walk into a pit trap, make a DEX Save (DC 10) or take 4 bludgeoning damage.

And somehow he fumbles it, his leg slipping off the edge and sending him tumbling into the pit. He grunts... "Ah damn..." He will attempt to climb his way out... Trying to take care not to put too much pressure on his leg.

After you climb out and continue walking, you find an opening. You come across a cave in the hillside, a shallow stream flows out of the mouth of the cave, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right hand side of the stream.

 He will very carefully peek around the corner of the cave, hoping he can see something... Any sign of enemies or a potential ambush down here. He will turn back after this attempt, to retrieve the others.

The cave is dark, you can't see much in it.

Alright, enough of this then. He turns and makes his way back to the entrance, making a point to avoid the pitfall again, and peeking his head out to the group.

"Alright, had a couple traps. I fell in a pitfall... I'm MOSTLY okay. Leads to a cave with a stream going through it, but it was too dark for me to tell if there was something waiting for us."

He then grins, "But hey, at least I didn't end up screaming."

Symon Twist looks at Alton and smiles, "But screaming can be cathartic at times, clears the lungs, de-fogs the brain, what.  But I do agree that this would probably be a good time to 'grin and bear it' as some are wont to say, he hem.  You say there is a cave that way?"  He wave his right hand vaguely in the direction Alton had scouted.  "No scummy little bastards in sight?  No stink of them?  Wouldn't surprise me if they were cowering in the mucky dark, hoping we will go away; that's even if they know we're here and what are the chances of that, hm?"  He pats himself, making sure his scrolls are accessible, hefts his staff and regards the others a bit trepidatiously.

"Shall we?"

Already on his feet and preparing to move, Darius just grunted his agreement and started off in the direction Alton had scouted.
