Rhogar growls a little in mild frustration, but almost immediately after is nodding along in agreement. "Very well, very well. We can go ask her for a bit more on the town and the herbs. But, you'll have to forgive me if I don't hold my breath on finding what we need at this point. Much as I too would wish for Gorrah's return, time is, to at least some extent, of the essence I feel. The longer we go without answers to this deep chill, the more damage is done... Some of it being irreparable."
With that and a soft sigh, the Dragonborn leads the proverbial march back to the inn to question Marta on both spare herbs and charcoal.

"Yes I heard it as well. We should keep that in mind as we continue." Rekuberk says as he moves to return to the others after looking over the war s for a bit longer.
Satisfied that Torrga doesn't appear to be sheltering any other undead you leave her to puzzle out Sephek's disappearance on her own. You return back to the inn and Marta informs you that there is indeed a small shop that may meet Rhogar's needs.
"A gnome named Gazzle dabbles in such things may have the supplies you seek." She gives you easy directions and you soon find yourself standing in front of a two-story stone-walled building. A battered sign over the door says The Ethereal. Entering you find a smooth stone floor. It is dimly lit by a few candles and is fairly shabby. A quick look around sees that some common spell materials can be found. There are a few dusty scrolls.
A short gnome sits behind a counter counting dried berries and looks up as you enter and then goes back to his counting.
Looking around you see another person is in the store, they are cloaked and you can't discern anything else about them at this time.
Kazri will just stand pretty there (and since she has nothing better to do), she will look around for any undeath. (Kazri uses her Divine Sense in the shop.)

Rhogar gives the hooded figure but a passing glance prior to joining Krom in a greeting. "Indeed! You must be Gazzle, I take it?"He asked as strode up to the counter, giving a toothless smile. "The name is Rhogar of the Nimbatuul Clan. Not that I expect many of my kin to have come up this way and made us all that noteable though.. Not yet, at least."Rhogar chuckled good naturedly at first, before settingly into a more serious demeanor. "Given the recent weather problems, would I be right in presume most things here that are for sale are more costly than expectations? I seem to be of need of charcoal and herbs I might use to summon a friend."

The gnomes does not look up but pauses his counting for just a moment as he raises one hand to gesture for you to wait. He then continues his counting until he is finished. It takes nearly a minute but he does finally finish.
"Ah yes, I'm Gazzle. You said your name was what again?" he looks up and his face darkens for a moment as he stares up at the dragonborn that towers over him." "Er uh, yes." he stammers until he seems to regain his composure. "Lost your familiar did you? The materials needed are usually common enough and I have some in stock. But the herbs especially are hard to come by these days and nothing grows much here anymore and most have to be imported at great expense. I can provide what you need for 30 gold, a fair price in these trying times. And for that price you can borrow a brazier to complete the spell if you are in need of one of them also. There is a quiet room in the back if you need the space and time to summon your familiar."
Kazri reaches out with her senses
She notes that a small celestial being is just outside the shop, judging by its location, likely sitting on the roof of the shop.
Chill moves around the store looking for baubles but also watching the cloaked figure. He is practiced in the art of deception and gets a good read on the figure while appearing to not be paying attention
Chill notes by the way the figure moves that it is a woman, and he sees some white hair. He also notes her hands tremble on occasion and sees her nearly stumble a couple of times as she moves around the shop. Additionally she seems to be watching your party as much as you are watching her.
As he moves around the store he also notes an item on interest. A crystal catches his interest
Krom tries to read the cloaked figure but cannot gain any information.
Seeing that her companions are busy with matters of their own, Kazri will approach whoever is closest to the exit (going to assume either Rek and/or Krom), and whispers. “Excuse me, I have detected something of interest outside. I will go to investigate, and hopefully I should return shortly.”
Kazri signals Oli to follow her, and she goes outside to investigate this curious being that she has detected.

As Kazri spots the snowy owl, instinctively she casts Speak with Animals. As one that does not waste time with small talks, she goes straight to the point. "Greetings. Please state your business." She thinks for a moment, that perhaps that wasn't the best way to start a conversation with an animal, celestial or otherwise. She crouches down. "Hummm. Inside the store the cloaked figure makes her way outside and Kazri see her come out of the store.
She removes her hood and you see and older woman, a patch over one eye. She has white hair. The owl flutters down and rests on her shoulder.
"I had at first thought perhaps you may be a mage and had a very interesting familiar. An owlbear cub? But I see I was mistaken. Perhaps you did not realize that while a familiar takes the form of a beast it is not actually a beast. So your attempt to speak to Maia was... interesting." As she says this she reaches up and pets the owl that has come down and perched on her shoulder. "And then you also tried the same to speak with the owlbear. You have power but perhaps not full understanding. Where did you get such a creature? Did you not realize that the owlbear is not a beast but actually a monstrosity? Your spell cannot allow you to speak to it, or perhaps more accurately for it to understand your speech and allow it to answer in some fashion. Yet it follows you, more like a dog and a pet maybe?"
She looks down at the owlbear and back to you.
"Forgive me, I am Vellynne Harpell, and you are? It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Rhogar fought back a grimace, but couldn't keep from stepping back at least small part so that he didn't loom quite as much over the gnome. His dorsal fin as well folding back along his neck as if cowed or embarrassed of something. Still, such feelings hadn't kept him from listening intently and respectfully, and eventually even distract him from concern. "A hefty price, and one I would be a fool as to argue against in these times... Not that I would. Haggling has never been much my fortey anyways." He admits with a soft smile touching his lips.
"So very well. If I can have enough for two castings at least, and if you truly do not mind me borrowing such an area, I would be most thankful. Though I do possess a brazier of my own, finding a comfortable spot for such magics is ever diffcult."He chuckles at that while pulling his coin pouch from an inner pocket. Though the pouch looked severely depleted after, the Bronze still smiled and waited to be directed as necessary to either supplies and the back room; trusting Krom to inform those who'd lingered elsewhere of the Dragonborn's intent.

Rhogar would have at least heard of the Arcane Brotherhood and know The Arcane Brotherhood is a cabal of powerful wizards that operates out of the Hosttower of the Arcane, a multi-spired structure that towers above Luskan (a city south of Icewind Dale on the Sword Coast). The brotherhood’s leadership consists of five renowned archmages who handpick the other members, favoring wizards of great accomplishment. Every year, scores of wizards from across Faerûn flock to the Hosttower of the Arcane, hoping to gain admittance into the prestigious ranks of the brotherhood. Nearly all candidates are dismissed out of hand, without so much as a test, feeding rumors that the brotherhood’s leaders are more interested in marketing their own brand of exclusivity than finding new talent. Yet wizards seem willing to debase themselves regardless, for admittance to the brotherhood grants access to the Hosttower’s incredible libraries of magical lore.

Kazri judges the character of Vellynne and she seems to be sincere if not just a bit haughty.
"Yes, indeed I do. This is all the work of Auril, the Frostmaiden, a lesser god of cold indifference who embodies winter’s cruelty.
Auril was aligned with the gods Talos, Umberlee, and Malar. Together they wrought terrible destruction, inspiring fear that compelled tribute to hold their power at bay. Umberlee, queen of the wrathful sea, grew to despise the enduring nature of the ice and snow Auril created. Umberlee seethed when Auril’s frigid cold transformed her chaotic, unpredictable tides into rigid, motionless sheets of ice. Umberlee brought Talos and Malar into an alliance against Auril, who retreated to the coldest corner of Toril to escape their fury.
After a world-shaking event known as the Sundering, most of the gods withdrew from Toril, leaving mortals to govern their own fates without the gods’ meddling, but the Frostmaiden could not stay away for long. Auril returned to her icy realm in the far north and, after a time, plunged it into frigid darkness using her magic.
This isn't a secret, but the knowledge is above most of these that live in the Ten-Towns."
