Krom looks at the prisoner for a while trying to get a better understanding of the person in front of him (Insight24. )"Vaelish Gant, as the Warden said, we are here to ask you some questions about yourself and your former associates. Cooperate with us and Speaker Shane is willing to petition for a reduction of your sentence."
Kazri crosses her arms, and watches from the back. She looks around to see what kind of security is there in place for prisoners like Vaelish. If he is actually bound to his cell. Kazri Perception: 14

Without the means to subtly test the veracity of the Warden's early claims about an anti-magic field, not that he hadn't trusted it, Rhogar settled for focusing on 237 and giving him a once over. The fact the man could still look condescending despite his imprisonment earned an initial frown from the Dragonborn. But then, even he had nod slowly in respect of the man's spirit, if nothing else. "The more helpful you are at that, and possibly, the greater the weight of the petition. And you do not strike me as a man that likes to have his time forcibly wasted in such a place as this more than necessary. Or am I off the mark, Mr. Gant?" He asked formally, hoping to help further coax a favorable response out of the wizard.
Rekuberk moves to stand near the entrance of the cell but knows that he is much less intimidating without his weapons to use. He shrugs such thoughts away as he waits to listen if the man will talk.
Kazri studies the security of the prison. She sees several guards at the windows of the center tower. Gant is clearly behind bars . She knows that as a wizard he would need a spellbook to study his magic and he clearly does not have that. No spell focus or wand, no material components. He would be limited to spells that were verbal alone. She can't see why he wouldn't cast such spells to try and escape unless he simply couldn't.
Gant gives Marta a sidelong look of contempt. He then turns his attention down at Krom and when he speaks and then up at Rhogar as he also speaks. In a whisper, just loud enough for Krom, Rhogar and Rekuburk to hear he speaks quickly. "Set me free, break me out and I will lavish you with riches beyond measure. I have access to magical gear and wonderous items once delivered safely to the Hosttower of the Arcane in Luskan. You will be richly rewarded."
Krom can sense the desperation in his voice. You get the feeling he has nothing left to lose but his life.
He then raises his voice louder and continues speaking. Contempt once again drips from his voice as he speaks slowly. "Shane wishes my aid eh? What proof do you have that she wants my help."
While Chill is not certain what Gant first said he sees the change in his expressions and knows at least some of this at least is an act.
Krom shakes his head at Gant's suggestion and replies with disdain "We will not do such a thing! Do not insult me or my friends!" The dwarf takes the from his pocket Speaker Shane's letter shows it to Gant for a moment before putting it back. "This is yourproof." Krom waits a moment before continuing "I strongly suggest to cooperate with us if you wish to leave this prison before your term." The dwarf looks at Gant straight in the eyes "What you and your former associates were doing in Icewind Dale?"
Kazri, still with her arms crossed, looks at Gant now. She just want to make sure that the wizard doesn't try anything that a prisoner is not supposed to do.

Gant reads the letter that you show him. He considers for a moment and then sighs in resignation. "I am unaware of any Arcane Brotherhood activities in Icewind Dale. As you may know I have been the guest of this fine institution." He motions with his hands and looks around as he says this. "The last time I was at the Hosttower, shortly before my arrival in Ten-Towns a few years ago, I overheard my superiors talking about mounting an expedition to Icewind Dale, to search for a lost Netherese city buried under the Reghed Glacier. Netheril was a civilization ruled by powerful wizards. It fell more than a thousand years ago. The Netherese learned their magic first from the elves, and later from the fabled Nether Scrolls. Their magic was far more powerful than present-day magic—so much so that it made even the gods tremble. Eventually their own hubris ultimately spelled the empire’s doom. Karsus, a Netherese archmage, tried to usurp the power of Mystryl, god of magic. He failed, destroying himself and tearing the Weave in the process. It would be years before anyone could use or control magic again. I had different plans for Icewind Dale at the time that the Hosttower planned this, but now it seems an expedition might finally be under way. I could save them time but they seem to have abandoned me. I learned of its location while I was in Icewind Dale, before my plans failed and I was imprisoned. "

Whatever embers of respect Rhogar had for Gant all but shriveled up and died in response to the hurried and whispered words. Yet willing to give the man some benefit of the doubt, the Dragonborn looked him over as much as was possible without trying to stick his snout through the bars, searching for any signs of abuse.
In the event of finding nothing, if not due to a lack of skill than simply there was none to speak of, the Bronze crossed his arms and looked sternly at Grant in solidarity with Krom's statement. The story, on the other hand, is one that Rhogar listened to with rapt attention as more of it unfolded before them. And yet by its conclusion Rhogar went wide-eyed for a moment, before then closing his eyes and rubbing his chin in thought.
"Mnn.... Care to go further into details, Mr. Gant? As mentioned before, the more helpful you are, the greater the weight of the petition in your favor. Additionally, if we should our way out there -- which to be honest, we may very well in order to bring an end to this neverending winter, we can be sure to pass along any findings to you in exchange. Not helpful directly or in the immediacy given your current predicament, but it is a far better deal than what you'll be seeing any time soon." He offered.
Krom listens carefully to Gant's story about the lost Netherese city. He is about to ask for more details, but he stops as Rhogar speaks. The dwarf keeps his eyes on Gant as he waits for his reply.
"An end to this winter eh?" Gant considers again for a moment. "Perhaps my knowledge will aid you in that, and that may be enough to reduce my sentence. I will tell you what I know, though how it will help you I do not know. That, and if my former colleagues seek the treasures there then perhaps you will beat them and they will face embarrassment. I owe them no allegiance. There is a place where a waterfall once tumbled down the glacier. If you have a map I can give a general idea where that may be. That is the entrance, which leads to a place called the Caves of Hunger. You must pass through those caves to reach Ythryn. But you need great magic to break through. I cannot help you with that, I was never able to learn how to do that."
He looks at you pleadingly. "You will tell Duvessa Shane that I helped you? Please?"

Krom studies Gant as he speaks trying to see if the mage is saying everything he knows or not (Insight9).
The dwarf says to Chill "Would you mind to show him our map?" Krom then replies to Gant "I will inform Speaker Shane of what you told us. A question, have you been to those Caves of Hunger? Do you know what creatures or trap we may face there?"
After Gant answers Chill and Krom. “Mr. Gant. What can you tell us about a Nass Lantomir?”

“If you’re looking for something hidden in Icewind Dale, the people you should talk to are the Reghed nomads. They know every inch of this land and all its secrets. The tricky part is finding them. They tend to follow the reindeer herds. That's who I learned it from years ago. I have never been to the Caves of Hunger so I know nothing else of it. "
"As for Nass Lantomir", Gant says: “She’s a nobody.”
Rekuberk shakes his head in digust at the wizard, finding him to be an insult to wizards such as his father. He forces his anger down though and listens, moving to stand closer if he needed for making the man more cooperative.
Rhogar had been at least willing to answer in a slow nod in regard to Duvessa. Though similar to Rekuberk, an extended stay in the man's presence grew difficulty by the moment. "On the subject then of the Nomads, it sounds as if we will have to speak to those they might trade with at least somewhat on the regular. If not a local guide." He'd say the last part with a tired sigh. "Still, we are much closer at least. But, what can you tell us about these former colleagues -- At least those you imagine would likely be assigned to the expedition. For as I understand it, the Arcane Brotherhood is rather selective about their number. So, stands to reason that there aren't that many that you would have to be force to remember."

Some of the arrogant haughtiness returns to Gant upon Rhogar's last question. He practically sneers his answer.
"There are about 130 wizards in the Arcane Brotherhood and you expect me to know who was sent to Icewind Dale when I've been caged here at Revel’s End the last few years? I specialize in the arcane tradition of abjuration not divination. I will not guess who they may have sent."
Krom turns towards the rest of the group and says "Do we have anything else to ask him? I have heard more than enough and I believe that Speaker Shane is going to be satisfied with our report."
