Since the King seems to ignore his question Krom takes a few steps towards him and says "So few of your tribe remain." the dwarf pauses "yet, you decide to further reduce your numbers. And for what? You may gain one day or two of respite, but the blizzard will continue to ravage the land." Krom pauses again "What will you do then King Gunvald? Will you kill all of the members of your Tribe? Is this all you can do? To kill them one by one? Do you think that this will please the Frostmaiden?" Krom stops in front of the King "It will not. She has other plans for your Tribe." "With the power I have been granted, I can provide a day or two of relief from hunger without weakening further your Tribe. What will you do with that time? Tell me King Gunvald."
“King Gunbald. Will you allow us to alleviate your immediate needs, namely food shortage, for the moment, then we may discuss how we may aid the tribe, hopefully for the long term.” Kazri asks if the King.

The woman in the bear mask laughs. "That food will last a day or two and then what? Unless our hunters return, and this blizzard does not look to let up any time soon, we will still starve. And how many will it feed? Do you know our numbers to know it will feed enough. I know this spell you speak of and it will not feed all our people."
She looks to the king,
"Don't be a fool Gunvald, these people cannot offer what we need. We don't know when the hunters will return or even if they will. You know what to do. "
The king seems to ponder for a moment and then answers.
"We will take your offered food as any is better than none and then you will kill those four. If you do not then I will do it myself."
Krom looks at the woman and says "The same can be said for your plan, shaman, killing four of your elders will not accomplish nothing. They barely have any meat on them, they will not even give you a day of respite." Krom continues "Then what will you do? Explain!" The dwarf turns to the King "Are you going to allow her to kill all of your people for nothing? Think King Gunvald, if you continue down this path you will wipe out your Tribe by yourself."

Though visibly agitated after Krom first questioned the King, Rhogar's warning look to the dwarf faltered with Kazri's further assertions. After that, the dragonborn looked down seeming thoughtful at first, and then out of growing shame, he could not bring himself to look up to the others. But he would continue to listen to the ongoing exchange, and come to yet another grim conclusion. Yet before lending a voice to the thought, he looked up and regarded the King, waiting to see how he might respond to the others.
And if it yet seemed the man would be determined to end the lives of the elders, it is then the Dragonborn would dare to step ahead of the others. "I beg your forgiveness, King Guvald, but allow me this final interjection." He states firmly, meeting the king's gaze as evenly as he'd hope a true follow of the ice maiden. "If the consumption of your own in trying times is a tradition, we -- I will not stop you. But I, for one, cannot -- would not end them when they can still be of use to the tribe alive for a time yet." He admits frankly. "Rather, if it is your tribes fate to die anyways... why not-..."He pauses for just a moment, teeth gritted and lets out a low, throaty growl as if struggling to speak again. But speak he would with strained determination. "Why not make them a sacrifice to the goddess? They are old and frail, but their spirits... their spirits are strong. I would wager they would do anything for their tribe. So let them. Send them out into the blizzard to seek out your missing hunters. If Lady Auril judges them worthy, and by extension, the rest of your tribe, at least one of them will succeed. If not, may she take them yet as a sacrifice. Proof of your commitment of accepting no weakness in your tribe, and far more genuine commitment to her worship." He says, pointing upwards in a not too subtle gesture at the symbol above his head.
"Death is likely assured one way or another. But this way, they are allotted the chance to face it on more honorable terms... rather than be butchered like cattle."He expressed, grip tightening on the staff at his side. "... Do this, and I will give you every bit of rations I have. Perhaps not enough for everyone still. But, you'll have four less mouths to feed anyway."

Kazri watches the shaman, and while the mask she wears makes it difficult to get a full feel for her she does seem to be eager for the king to act now.
King Gunvald's face contorts with anger. "You know nothing of Tribe Bear and nothing of our ways dwarf! I do not answer to you."
When Rhogar speaks he pauses for a moment and collects himself. "You will do this dragonborn. Leave your food and you will drive these four into the blizzard or I will kill them now. Then you will all leave my camp."
Krom shakes his head as King Gunvald does not understand what he was trying to say "No, you do not answer to me, you answer to the whole Tribe and you have just condemned them all." thinks the dwarf. "Very well, we will leave the camp with the four elders." Krom turns his back to King and slowly starts to walk outside. Before exiting the tent, the dwarf stops for a moment and says "I'll provide you anyway with some food and water, if you have empty containers or bags, instruct someone to bring them to me." If the King complies with his request, Krom chants an hymn of conjuration creating food and water, if Gunvald does not comply, the dwarf will just shake his head again.
Kazri's sword hand almost instinctively went for the hilt of Dragonslayer, but before the command from her brain could reach her hand, Rhogar timely interjected. Listening to the Dragonborn's proposition, it sounded like a good alternative, and it was with a slight sigh of relieve that the King accepted it. She could tell that Krom did not agree with the King's decision, but Kazri figure this is their way of life, something that she didn't quite understand. "As you wish." That was Kazri's short reply to the king. She wasn't pleased with the outcome either, but there was little else that the group could have done for these poor folks.

Chill did his best to keep out of trouble while staying close to the king's tent. He didn't want to chance it by getting too close to hear the conversations taking place inside the tent so he did his best to find a spot to watch the entrance.
Rhogar hadn't dared looked at the others once King Gunvald appeared to agree with the plan -His- plan. Nor did he appear to draw comfort in hearing at least some acceptance from the others of things as they were, if though clearly grudgingly in some cases. He just held a closed eyed bow to the king for perhaps a second or two more than necessary, before busying himself removing the twelve days of rations from his bag of holding. "May your wisdom see your people through these trying times, and may the Lady reward your people's faith in enduring this challenge thus far."He uttered as the last of the food is set aside and looked up to the King.
Then without another word, the stone faced dragonborn turned to head out of the tent to address the elders outside, ignoring grim faced man watching them. "Rejoice. You four have beeng given the honor to serve your tribe for what may be the last time. You four are to be sent out in search of your missing kin, and see them home with resources. A task that will seem impossible. Cruel. Perhaps even madness. But I need not remind you what is at stake here. You shall preserver as you've all no doubt throughout much of your long lives, and prove to the maiden that your people are worth sparing. That spirit of the bear tribe is strong enough to bare her true blessings and be worthy of it!"He announces to the four, looking them each in the eye, and burning as much of their appearance into his mind. "And if you should fall, may the maiden accept you as sacrifices, and be pleased enough to spare the people -- your tribe her contempt further."Another few moments is given to let the words sink in. Enough time perhaps for the rest of the party to perhaps intervene in some way again more immediately, before Rhogar gestures to outskirts of the camp.
"We shall escort your to the outskirts, and then go our separate ways."

Few move about the camp and the blizzard makes it easy for Chill to find a spot to remain hidden and keep an eye on the entrance to the tent the others went into. The second warrior that followed the group into the camp left almost immediately after the leader brought the others into the tent. Chill can presume he went back to watch duties on the perimeter of the camp.
King Gunvald motions for the man who lead you to the tent, "Get what he requires, we will not turn down food and supplies." The man leaves the tent and is gone only a few minutes when he returns with several empty sacks and jugs. "Now go back to your post." Gunvald says and the man quickly leaves.
"Here is what you need dwarf, make it quick." the king says.
As the rest of the party leaves the tent Kazri looks at the four gathered outside. She sees that they are dressed warmly and have knives and pouches on them. No other gear or what they might have is seen.

The four raise their heads proudly as one of them speaks. "By the spirit of the bear we will prevail." is all he says as the others nod in agreement. They then move to follow you through the camp.
Despite himself Rhogar cannot help but grin grimly seeing the pride and bravery in the four.
