Certain that nothing awful is about to happen, Rhogar reaches up and presses the button. A moment later he is receiving visual information from something a few feet away from him. Gorrah, through her True sight, can report to him that it is a magical eye that hovers in the air. Rhogar instinctively knows he can move it about and look around with it.
If he voices any of this aloud Vellynne is quick to speak, telling you that pressing the button must have cast the arcane eye spell. She knows the spell herself. "It will last for 1 hour and then disappear. You will mentally receive visual information from the eye, which has normal vision and darkvision out to about 30 feet and the eye can look in every direction. You can also move the eye in any direction. There is no limit to how far away from you the eye can move thought it will move only so fast. A solid barrier blocks the eye's movement, but the eye can pass through very small openings."
As Rhogar pushes the eye on the slab, Krom holds his breath, expecting trouble. However, as moments pass and nothing awful happens, the dwarf relaxes.
He is about to say something to Rhogar when Vellyne explains what happened. "That arcane eye is going to be extremely helpful as we continue our exploration of this complex of cavern. We should press on while it lasts." adds the dwarf.

Even as someone used to both sharing senses and fully divesting himself of his own in favor of another perspective, Rhogar appeared yet disoriented by the sudden influx of information, and need to grasp onto the nearby wall to steady himself. But with instinctive knowledge of how to the move the eye rekindled his confidence while explaining what happened to him.
At Krom's commentary, Rhogar chuckled. "I'm certain at least one of us is especially thankful for this boon."He said while side-eying an already enthusiastically nodding Gorrah. "But yes. Let us press on, uhm... eastward! Yes, yes! Uhm, and I will endeavor to have the eye move ahead of us as we go, and hopefully that will be enough."Even as he's saying as much a mental nudge is given the eye to proceed ahead and down the passage the group just passed by for an initial scan. But Rhogar wouldn't be far behind the others once presumably either Krom or Kazri took point.
"I will watch our back." If Krom takes point, Oli will be next to him.

Krom also presses the button but finds that it no longer pushes in. It seems to be somehow damaged now and nothing else happens. Choosing to press on, the eye floating ahead Rhogar checks out the next area.
Lying on its side in the middle of this twenty-foot-high cave is an enormous head made of iron, its eyes aglow with a golden light.
The following features are common throughout the Caves of Hunger:
Ceilings. Most cavern ceilings are 30 feet high and made of smooth ice. Tunnel ceilings range from 10 to 15 feet high unless otherwise noted.
Darkness. All areas are cast in complete darkness unless otherwise noted.
Echoes. Sound travels quickly here. All Wisdom (Perception) checks to hear sounds in these caves have advantage.
"The craftmanship on that head is astonishing." says Krom as he walks closer to the head, taking a good look at it. "Since its eyes are glowing I assume that it's somehow still magically infused. I wonder where the remaining parts are." continues the dwarf, looking around "Probably destroyed when the city fell down from the sky."

"That is a great call Chill." Kazri paces around the group, but keep her distance from the statue until the experts have done their investigation. She tries to listen to the voices she heard earlier.

"Well, it is certainly no frost giant's helmet, if anything."Rhogar said with a bit of mirth to his voice. All while somewhat absentmindedly having the arcane eye pan around it like some free floating camera. And if it should turn out to be that there was little else to see from other angles, then he'd send it off down the eastern passage to continue gradually scouting the way ahead. "But if I had to guess -- and Vellyne and the professor can certainly correct if I'm off, it... looks to be the head of a metal sentinel or perhaps golem of some kind. One that further attest to the resilience of 'their' craft... even if they become a touch too foolish towards their end."

"I do not think that it's dangerous Chill, as Rhogar just said, it's probably what it is left of a golem." replies Krom "But you are right, maybe the Professor can tell us something more about it." continues the dwarf while taking out from his backpack the Professor Orb.
Krom takes out the Professor Orb and Rhogar grits his teeth as the annoying and patronizing tone voice of Professor Skant speaks again.
"Well, where are we now?" it says as it looks around. "Caves of some sort I see, and what is this? A golem head."
If no one else does, Vellynne informs him that we are in the Caves of Hunger.
"Oh, indeed we are, very interesting. The Netherese used Iron golems as sentries throughout Ythryn. This one still seems to be active as the eyes are still glowing. Be careful, they had a poison breath. But I suppose with only its head intact that no longer functions. I wonder if it can still speak? They only spoke elvish and Loross which is the Netherese tongue, lost to the world. Though, fortunately for you, I am fluent."
Speaking to the golem head in elvish, "Can you still speak or are functional at all?" the orb asks
In response the eyes blink on and off twice
"Can you speak?" - the eyes blink once "But you are somewhat functional?" the eyes blink twice.
"It seems to be able to answer simple questions in a yes or no manner."
"In that the case, if any, what kind of simple question shall we ask it?" says Krom as the Professor speaks to the group about the golem head. "What about, "is the entrance to Ythryn close by?" continues the dwarf scratching his chin. "Anyway, as the passage continues east, we should proceed that way in any case unless we decide to backtrack and take the southern passage."
"Eastward."Spoke Rhogar after messaging his temple after hearing the professor's grating voice. "Provided this head doesn't of course have answers, of course, limited though it would be given who knows how long it's been like this and in this area in particular."He continued, eyeing the head at that point with some trepidation despite the indirect assurances of the Orb. "Considering it's still active though those beg the question of whether or not the rest of it is functional? The body, that is. Can it sense it still? And has it seen in recent times the, uhm, ice creatures, kobolds, or bestial humanoid pass by here? All decent questions, if nothing else I'd say."

"What about asking if it had seen a certain red female tiefling recently?" says Krom "We do know that those caves were her destination. She may have passed this way."
"While I have my doubts about that, Master Krom, given the nature of her patron I...." He trails off to look askance and scratch his head, before then sighing and shaking his head. "It is not outside the realm of possibilities; especially for archdevils, who are, uhm.... how do the halflings put it? 'Old hats' at the game? Mn. Regardless, feel free to ask or, I guess, eh, have the professor do so. I'll continue to send my eye along scouting the eastern passage."Rhogar said. "Just keep in mind we shouldn't tarry for too long."He further adds with Gorrah chirrping an agreement. His attention then wavers from the immediate surroundings as most of his focus turned towards focusing on the Arcane Eye and sending it along the eastern tunnel past the head.

Professor Skant listens as you mull a number of questions to pose to the golem head and then takes the opportunity to ask them
“Do you know where the entrance to Ythryn is?” (No.)
“Were you damaged when the city fell?” (Yes.)
"Do you know where the rest of your body is?" (No)
“Have other creatures passed through this cave recently?” (Yes)
Meanwhile Rhogar sends the Arcane Eye further to the east to recon the area.
Naturally formed stairs lead east and downward from the area you are now in. Here you see a large cavern with more natural stairs lead down to the south. A wide passage runs to the east with a branching tunnel that proceeds north.
There are deep shadows in some areas, deeper than the normal darkness.
"Well that's troubling,"Rhogar mutters under breath, before letting thoughts of the discovery dance in mind. However, at the first request for an update, or in simply sensing the others were done questioning the head, he convey that had been seen thus far.... as well concern over the darker patches. "Once we get closer my blessing should allow me to peer into these darker patches and discern more. But.... but if the cause is not simply some minor magical anomally, well... No need to beat a dead horse, as this one Cormyrn once told me." He said and chuckled towards the end.
