Kazri takes the rope and rings the bell and a loud clang is heard, a stark sound that cuts through the cold air. At first nothing happens and you begin to wonder if ringing the bell did nothing. Several minutes pass and perhaps you begin to gather around the hole or wander a bit while you wait.
The sound of something surfacing in the open pool of water near the bell draws your attention as a couple of long tusks appear. The long tusk is like a unicorn's horn. Two whale like creatures that you have never seen before appear occasionally bobbing out of the water. Their actions are clearly not aggressive and they seem more curious than anything.
As Kazri walks towards the bell and rings it, Krom also gets himself into a suitable position. As minutes pass without nothing happening Krom starts to say "Maybe the Warden...", the dwarf is unable to finish his sentence as the two whales emerge from the water. "We count on you lass." murmurs Krom looking in the direction of Kazri.
Kazri is not sure if the wales speak the Common language, so she casts Speak with Animals. "Greetings. We would like to request your aid."

Chill, after helping look around waits as Kazri rings the bell. But after a few minutes of waiting and nothing happening he simply cannot help himself as he approaches the bell and rings it again. Not a hard ring, or anything that would give the impression that he is impatient.
Looking around at the others he simply shrugs if he receives questioning looks or comments.
"I can't help it. I wanted Kazri to be the first to ring it but really I needed ... well wanted to ring it myself also."
His curiosity with the bell for the moment satiated he moves off to look around some more. Taking some of the wood out of the small cabin he lights a fire on shore while waiting to see what happens next.
When the whales appear he gets up and approaches the open water to watch but seeing that the creatures don't appear to be aggressive he simply watches as Kazri tries to communicate with them.
"Hummm.... One moment please. We will try to get you food." Kazri tells the narwhals. (If everyone are close by, Kazri will just yell, otherwise she will use the stone.) "Gentleman, I don't think these are the creatures we are looking for, but they are hungry. Errr... Are we able to assist them?" Kazri tells her companions.
(OCC: The narwhals are not speaking Common right?)

Rhogar, having already figured it might take some time for a response, initially stood by afar rather calmly, enduring the calm in silence. Though with Chill eventually bringing out the firewood and fire, he more than readily helped clear a space and sat by the fire just to keep warm.
"As brilliant as always, my friend. You have my thanks, Chill." He added once all set up. When at last something appears, the Dragonborn had stared in both confusion and a touch of awe, prior to then being drawn in by Kazri's question. "I... hmm..." Rhogar trails off from there half muttering to himself in Draconic. A few of which containing arcane words that seem to focus his mind a bit while pontificating the question.
"We don't have as many of such creatures in the seas where I'm from. But -- h-hold up. See if you can ask them about our ship bearing whale. If so, then maybe a trade of sorts can happen."

"Well, trail rations I suppose. Restocked in Revel’s End so some is fresh. No idea what they eat. Fish I suppose but food is food when you are hungry."
Chill brings some rations over and throws 2 in the water.
"I would guess being creatures of the sea maybe they eat fish or the like? I must admit I am not the best at such things." With little else to go on, Rekuberk will reach into his pack for some of his rations, shrugging and moving to toss a small amount towards one to see if they will eat it.
"Food you say lass? Let me handle it." says Krom. The dwarf walks a little bit closer to Kazri and starts chanting an hymn of conjuration (Create Food and Water). As he finishes to chant the last word of the hymn, Moradin's holy symbol flashes and 45 pounds of fishes are conjured in front of Kazri. "I can conjure more food if they are still hungry after eating all of that." "While they eat, ask them if they know the location of the Duchess." adds Krom.
Kazri watch the narwhals eat, then after a couple of minutes, Kazri speaks with the sea creatures again. "We have provided you with food, and there is more if you would like. Perhaps, you can help us now. We are looking for a whale, its name is Angajuk, if I am not mistaken. Also, do you know of any ship that has crashed nearby?"

While Rhogar isn't certain exactly what the narwhal eat he can presume fish. Chill and Rekuburk throw some trail rations in the water and the narwhal poke at it but don't look terribly interested. 45 lbs of fish though, that's a feast and the narwhal happily eat it.
"Dead ship that way" one of the narwhal says to Kazri as it points its long horn to the west. But how far away it cannot say. "Big bird live on it. Stay away!"
The other answers "Angajuk, he is coming! He is coming!"
Sure enough, as the narwhal eat the fish that Krom provided a gargantuan sperm whale slips by under the water. It then returns and Angajuk surfaces through the hole in the ice, expels a gush of seawater from its blowhole and settles down near the edge. You see that there is a boat strapped to Angajuk’s back.
In a Its deep, resonant voice that carries a slight echo it talks "Greetings! You rang the bell! I see you have fed fish to my friends, that is very good. What is it that you want?"
“Greetings mighty Angajuk. We are travelers from afar, and we would like to request your aid. If you could give us a moment of your time.” Kazri says respectfully to the great whale.

"We are searching for the wreckage of a ship, the Dutchess, as we believe that some of her cargo may help us in our endeavour." The dwarf pauses for a moment before continuing. "Your friends mentioned that it was in that direction." Krom points to west "How far is it? They also mentioned that a dangerous big bird lives there now. Do you know something more about it?"
Rhogar remained content to sit by the fire, listening from relatively afar for sure, but trusting the others to handle negotiations in any case. Plus, an ever curious Gorrah had flown over to keep the paladin company prior to events, and looked on curiously at the massive beast before her with envy.

"There is a shipwreck a ways away, though its name I do not know. Perhaps that is what you seek? How long it would take you to travel there I do not know. It would take me half a day to swim I suppose. As for the bird, my friends here are simple, not as intelligent as I am, so they do not understand. Anything that flies and has wings is a bird to them. They have simple lives and are better for it. It is dangerous though. It has hunted these parts for a long time. Anga once told me its name. Her name is Arveiaturace, a dragon. White, and ancient she is. She visits the ship on occasion though what she does there I do not know. She does not live there." The whale answers.
"We thank you for the information you have given us.Would you be able to take us there? We are searching for an object, not necessary on the ship, but near it, I believe. Perhaps, we may try to avoid dealing with Arveiaturace, if she is hostile." Kazri asks the great whale.
(OOC: From post #1529 it doesn't look like Nass is on/in the ship.)

No, they are not speaking common. You are communicating via the Speak with Animals spell. These are ordinary beasts.
