Gillain thanks Alrik for the stew and for the information about the shop, and tucks in gladly to the food and drink.
As the ground shakes, Gillain’s chair topples back, but she manages to adopt a wide fighting-stance and hold her footing. “What was that?!...”, she dashes to the door to see if she can see anything unusual out in the street...

Bob had just finished piling a teetering mountain of breakfast foods on his plate when the shaking began, sending it all tumbling to the ground. "Not me brekkie!"

Despite the eladrin's previous grogginess, the appearance of food is like a shot of adrenaline. After thanking Alrik, Ban tears into the bread ravenously. As the place shakes, Ban instinctively bolts up from her seat but never stops chowing down.

Gimble:
With his nose in the captured spellbook, Gimble has no chance to avoid tumbling to the floor.
Dexterity save to see how badly he lands: 7
Managing to somehow hit the floor and tumble with the rolling ground, Gimble manages to not even lose his place in the book he is reading. Standing up after the quake is over, he says, "I have heard of such seismic events, though never experienced one."
The party keeps their feet under them but Alrik and a few things in the Tavern aren't so lucky.
Gillain rushes to a window and sees the entire village in view is shaking as well.
Once the shaking has stopped Alrik picks himself off the floor and dusts himself off. His eyes are wide and he nervous. "I never.....this has never happened." he stammers. He seems at a loss for words.
Outside people can be heard coming out of their homes and talking to themselves and each other. "Is this Strahd's doing?" one asks only to be hissed down. "Quiet, least he hears you." is the reply. "Have the Gods finally come to judge us?" says another voice. Many other exchanges like this can be heard.
“Mister Gimble do you know where the Burgomasters son is? Perhaps we should not idle and continue on our journey.” Tio will grab her thing ready to set out if everyone else is.

"Journey to where, Tio? I have no idea what to do next, unless it is to try and sell our unneeded items at Bilbrath's Mercantile once the hubbub dies down...Still, this is an unusual opportunity for people to come out of there houses. Perhaps we should go outside and see what we can learn from the townspeople," he suggests, heading towards the door.

"Och, the bloody merchant's good's're goin' t' be all over th' ground after tha' quake! Say, maybe we'll get a discount if we help him out?" Bob grins hopefully despite the misfortune of his lost breakfast and the strangeness of the seismic event. He totters outside and listens to the hubbub with a frown, scratching at his beard.
The dwarf looks at the stonework of the various buildings curiously to see if any cracks have formed and then the earth itself to get an idea of just how bad the quake was.
“Of course to stop what plagues this land. I for one do not plan on watching people be terrorized nor do I plan on staying here forever.” When Gimble suggest going out to see the people Tio will nod “Yes I think that is an excellent idea, after perhaps we can ask where the Burgomaster’s home is.”

Gillain comes back from the window. She agrees with the party about venturing out into the town to see what they find, to ask around, and to find the Burgomaster’s home, and any other landmarks that stand out.
She grabs up all her gear but doesn’t equip her shield or any weapons for now. Then walks out with everyone to explore the town.
The party makes its way out to the street. As they look around they see little to no damage overall, though some of the older, less kept buildings have lost a few boards.
Those villages that had made their way outdoors only stay for a few moments. When the party looks their way, the villagers avert their gaze to looking on the ground and hurried away back inside their homes.
(unless approached they will go inside and say nothing to the party)
After a couple more moments, as the party head to the Mercantile, a voice calls out from behind them. Gimble recognizes the voice and turns to see the young man who offered him a bag of gold to find out what had happened to the group recently seen going into the Durst Family home. Gimble recalls the young man's name is Ismark. "Hello there!" the young man calls out as he hurries in the party's direction. "May I have a word?"
”Ismark, yes, of course. Everyone, this young man is the one who offered to pay for me to investigate the Durat house—where you were investigating,” says Gimble, by way of introduction.
”I’m afraid the house collapsed around us as we left, but we do have the deed. That standing offer to investigate the house still stands, right?” he adds.

Tio bows gracefully, when Gimble makes the introduction "Hello, I am Tio. We received your fathers letter, unfortunately the courier passed." Going the her bag she pulls the letter they received "We would like to speak to your father if you could lead us." She passes it to the young gentelman.
Ban finishes her meal and slips on her pack. Taking her time to be last out, smoothing her clothes and settling her image, she'll take any leftover bread for a snack. The eladrin tears small bits off the bread loaf and pops them into her mouth as the others discuss.
Gillain bows a gracious greeting to the gentleman as he approaches, and listens with interest while the others discuss the agreements and letters and such things.
"Of course it stands Sir.'Ismark says. "I am a man of my word....." Ismark voice trails off as the word from Tio sinks in. "You found the letter?" he asks, his voice trailing off as he does. "It had been dispatched a month ago and we were beginning to worry it would never reach anyone," Ismark says with some concern. 'I am sorry to hear that the courier died. He was a good man and will be missed." Ismark says sadly.
The young man seems distracted for a moment. It is a breath or two before he finally speaks up. "Gimble, if you and your friends would join me in the Tavern. There is much to discuss and I would ask another task of you if you would be willing." Ismark bows and extends his arm towards the Tavern.
Bob finishes his examination and turns to address some of the villagers, mouth open to question them, before several doors slam shut and the wary people head back inside. He sighs and totters back over to the other, giving a bow to Ismark and following them back into the tavern. "Well, sure! Say, who's up for second breakfast?"
"That sounds good, Ismark, though we would like to visit the Mercantile to resupply before we run off on our next adventure," Gimble says with a smile.
