The captive looks around furtively, trying to assess the situation unfolding in front of him. Realising that the interlopers are his best chance at freedom, he drops back towards the cistern and places himself on its East side.
The captive holds his action. If any Redbrands head this way towards Sheyla or Joshua, and come within 5ft of him, he will make a shove attack to attempt to knock them prone.

As the glow from the magical attack fades from his hands Joshua says "Everyone stand ready still, we don't know who this is but he obviously wasn't a friend of theirs." As he turns to the captive "I'm going to set you free, but you saw what we did to them. Don't give us a reason to do that to you as well." putting just a little bit of menace behind his voice to make sure his point gets across. Intimidation: 21. After a moment to let it sink in, Joshua will cut the binds on the captives wrists.
The icily pale figure pulls himself up to his full height before returning to a slouch. “You make a clear point friend, and your obvious abilities provide me an apt deterrent from trying anything untoward - had I been inclined to try. I owe you all a debt, and I shall take any chance to repay it.I had set out to deliver justice to the wretched occupants of this dark place; if you are carrying on into its depths then I would appreciate the chance to earn my place in your line”
Mindful not to make any sudden movements, Prentiss retrieves his equipment from the fallen enemies and prepares to move out.

"I'm fine - how did you get down here, mister?" Asks Loren, a small halfling rogue in scuffed leathers, speaking with a hearty Waterdeep street urchin's accent and precociousness. Hardly waiting for a reply, he will scuttle over to the small door recently highlighted, and give it a twice over before applying his hand to opening the door, whether by an obvious handle or the deft use of some well-worn thieves tools.
Investigation on the door: 5, then Thieves tools check, if needed: 14
@Loren you hear nothing except maybe an echo'y windy sound. The door is easily opened should you wish to. (I know that's not really a word, but nothing else seemed to fit)
"I am Prentiss Darvanian, of- erm, at your service" he says, suddenly displaying the shyness of youth and scratching his head awkwardly with a scaled hand.
He composes himself: "I too seek to help those in need, and thought I was up to the task on my own until recent events. I had been tracking a group of these Redbrands through the forest near Phandalin, trying to locate their hideout. They must have been on to me though; the next I knew I had been pinned, hooded and bound. I'm afraid I know nothing of the layout of this place, but I assure you I can play my part here. I now see that there is wisdom in seeking likeminded souls in this line of...work?"
(Prentiss is happy to take second place in the marching order but will defer to the seniority of the established group)
The man who threatened you relaxes slightly seeing your demeanor. He is an avg looking young man with brown hair pulled back into a braid. Seeing him now, he doesn't seem nearly as dangerous as you saw a few minutes ago. "My name is Joshua. We've been thru a bit of this place and met a few of its occupants already. They're resting peacefully now."
"And I'm Loren!" the Halfling calls from the newly opened door. He scuttles through, nose twitching though a little disappointed to not find piles of hoarded treasure lying around. He only goes a few steps before slowing down, his enthusiasm tempered by the memory of recent scuffles. He turns back to retrieve his knives from the slain enemies and takes a seat on the edge of the stairs in the east side of the room, waiting for the next move.
"Looks like some stuff might be down that way, but I couldn't see very far. Probably more of these thugs from where the bugbear came from - hey, he was kinda like the one we killed in that goblin cave earlier, don't you think? "

Mindful not to make any sudden movements, Prentiss retrieves his equipment from the fallen enemies and prepares to move out.
Prentiss is able to collect his things from among the belongings of the Redbrands as was handily in a separate sack so has all of his gear.
Several of you notice a door outlined in the small lower left corner while being in the room. 150 ea xp to the original 4 members of the party.
"Before we move on, does anyone need some of the berries I have left? They can cure some minor injuries," Sheyla asks.

Velshir will take a few berries, with thanks.
Addressing the newcomer, Velshir says,
"My name is Velshir. My comrades and I are here on behalf of the town, to root out unscrupulous groups. What is your name?"
Opening the door!
@velshir - 4 berries will bring you to full health and make you feel like you had a full meal. (the meal only takes one)
@Loren - here is what you see plus existing nearby map.
