@Prentiss You press your ear to the Southern door and hear :
a deep, gruff voice shouting, what sounds maybe like commands but in a language you don't understand, followed by a light sound, maybe something brushing against the floor, then another command and a rustle followed by laughter of other gruff voices.
@Velshir (your passive perception is sufficient) You press your ear to the Northern door and hear :
Faint bubbling and dripping sounds and maybe(super faint) a little light scratching.
Assuming order of party as Velshir, Prentiss, Joshua, Sheyla, Loren unless otherwise adjusted.
The corridor is narrow - 5' across, so although listening is comfortable, regular movement is crowded. If either Velshir or Prentiss say they are sharing what they heard, feel free to read spoiler unless described personally.
This room appears to be a wizard’s workshop. A rat scurries across the floor and takes refuge under a large worktable set up with alembics, retorts, distillation coils, and other alchemical devices, all of it stewing and bubbling away. Bookshelves are crowded with sheaves of parchment and strange-looking tomes.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sheyla will move up to lab equipment and review it and any notes that may be on or near the table. Thinking real hard she will try to determine what may be brewing.
Not sure if it would work but she's got proficiency in herbalism. If that would translate at all to determining that I'll toss out an intelligence check 17
The books and notes scattered around the room are basic texts on alchemy. It appears he was attempting to create a potion of Invisibility. Which doesn't appear to have been successful so far. You don't see anything particularly out of place or dangerous in the room.
@Loren The rat peers up at you from under the table and seeing your apparent intent scurries down to the far end of the table and out along the wall seeking another shelter. (hmm, what sort of roll to catch a rat?) animal handling check please?
@Sheyla
The books and notes scattered around the room are basic texts on Alchemy. It appears that he was attempting to create a potion of Invisibility. Which doesn't appear to have been successful so far. You do notice three small bottles hold rare reagents: mercury, dragon bile, and powdered nightshade labeled as if sold in an apothecary.
@Velshir
As you move towards the other door you spot a tome/journal looking volume that appears to be in Dwarvish. None of the others have noticed it yet. Once you get to the door, you hear what reminds you of a heavy door slowly closing but not latching.
Prentiss finishes his awkward appraisal of the paperwork: "It seems that someone has been trying to brew an invisibility potion, but thankfully so far unsuccessfully.
Velshir, any sign of danger that way? The door opposite our route into this room sounded like it led to a barracks or den of some sorts; it might be prudent to clear that before advancing any further"
Loren kneels down and offers out the seedcake. The little rat halts in his flight, nose turned to the air starts circling back to you. Unable to resist a treat he's unlikely smelled before he gradually comes close enough for you to scoop it up. It doesn't resist this as highly focused on the mouthful of seedcake it is now busily munching.
Sheyla sorts through papers, bottles, and books strewn about the room and discovers several bottles of that seem particularly interesting. There are herbs and typical common ingredients as well, so she may find other components to supplement her kit. As she's moving to another area of the room, she spots a journal but its not in a language that she is familiar with.
Velshir leaves through the East door with a shout, followed quickly by Prentiss.
You burst into the room attempting to follow something and see an apparently empty bedchamber with walls draped in scarlet cloth. The furnishings include a small writing desk with matching chair, a comfortable-looking bed, and a wooden chest at the foot of the bed. (How do you both proceed?)
What do Sheyla and Loren do?
(sometimes posts happen frequently so please know that I assume that all will stay reasonably together by default - this will give those that wish time to review specific things as they desire to and for real life to happen. If anyone feels rushed at all, please let me know either here or private message and I can adjust pace.)
(Sorry, Prentiss perception roll 15)

Velshir assesses the readiness of his comrades and then confidently and swiftly enters the next room.
Prentiss whispers to the group "Sounds like company in this one" and resumes his place in the line.

Prentiss casts his eyes across the room to see if anything stands out that might be dangerous or out of place: Perception 2
If nothing seems untoward then he tries to determine the nature of the bubbling kit, parchments and tomes: Arcana 12
(Wow, hopefully I can find the books...)
Loren tries to catch the rat.

Velshir will listen at the other door.

@Joshua - what do you do in this room?
(Ahaha! Little could you have guessed that Loren is proficient in animal handling!)
Animal handling: 18
Perhaps Loren baits the creature out with a crumb of seedcake?
Prentiss finishes his awkward appraisal of the paperwork: "It seems that someone has been trying to brew an invisibility potion, but thankfully so far unsuccessfully.

Velshir says,
”Sounds like someone’s leaving!”
and he rushes into the next room!
Honour (and conscience) bound to prove himself worthy of saving, Prentiss follows Velshir.

Seeing Velshir run out followed by our new friend Joshua will follow to see what's going on.
Joshua follows along behind the other two to investigate, seeing what they see (review spoiler below Velshir and Prentiss above)
Velshir says, "Must be a secret door!" He starts dashing aside the scarlet cloth and tries to find the secret door as quickly as possible.
Prentiss uses Mage Hand to try to open the chest.
@Velshir - please roll investigation as your perception is high but could require a bit of a search of the walls.
