If Balgrim is MIA, what should we do going forward? - Single Choice
Shall we seek a 6th party member? - Single Choice
((Lol, when Kallista met Grimbuld and more or less dedicated herself to working with/training with him I kinda deticated myself to getting ranger (maybe druid, looking less likely now XD))

Kallista trains with Grimbuld, hoping to be able to pick up the basics of Archery, even in the rain. "Thank you Sir," she says to him afterwords, "I know this isn't exactly what you were expecting to do today."

((Somehow, annoyingly, my text file that has the party progress on it seems to have an issue with being saved. Sorry bout that, yes, Hyre has full Survival proficiency now))
((Your archery skill would just be counted as 'Martial'. I don't think you've had any successes with it as of yet. Kallista, so this is your first; I don't think it'd really be necessary to make a custom archery proficency. It's more for class point purposes, whether she's shooting or fighting))
When Aelar gets to the Goodwin farm, Thomas can only laugh.
"Err, that's quite alright, boyo. Ya DID see the storm this mornin' right? I mean, not like we needed ya t' go inta the field n' catch each raindrop individually." he says.
"If'n yer still in need o' work, we'll still have some for ya, certainly. Always somethin' worth doin' on the farm." he says.
Barna stays with the rest of the group, though she promises to meet up with Hyre at the saloon later on. When he makes it to the Horseshoe, he thankfully isn't nearly as muddy as the rest of the group that trained outside in the rain. By the time he makes it there, the rain is starting to let up, and it's getting close to lunch time.
Hana invites Hyre to help her in the kitchen to make lunch for the staff. The waitresses have to eat too, and certainly, it would put him in better standing with Hana should he successfully help her out with the meal preparation.
If Hyre helps out, passing a DC 13 cooking skill check will not only be another success, but it will vastly improve his standing with Hana and the servers in the Horseshoe. If he fails, Hana may have second thoughts about giving him more responsibility and he'll get teased by the waitresses.
Grimbuld is impressed with Kallista's shooting,; it seems she's a natural with the bow.
:Well done, Kallista... even the rain isn't hampering your shooting. That's important."he says. "The cornerstone of accurate archery is concentration. If you can ignore distactions, especially under pressure, your arrows will be far more likely to hit the mark when you need them the most."

(I feel like I'm going to fail this check, so I'll use the inspiration. Although, tbh, it feels like I'm still going to fail it. My rolls were especially low all across the forums for a few days.)
Hyre puts the cage and everything else he doesn't need right now in his room. After that, he's a bit anxious about helping Hana but decides to try anyway. He knows that he can't keep failing like he did forever, so he decides to be extra careful and watch everything mindfully. Cooking helped him a lot, even if it was by pure coincidence. He didn't want to give it up.
Cooking with inspiration: 14
Varielky
((You succeeded in martial and CON, yes, Kallista. Also, good choice of using your inspiration Hyre, did you EVER call that, that's now 2/3 successes for cooking. Now, cooking may seem like a throwaway skill, but I'm also giving myself a little extra to do in that once you reach a +4 proficiency in cooking, meals prepared by you in conjunction with your survival skill will yield more nutritious meals, staving off hunger for longer, reducing the number of times the group needs to eat a day to keep up full strength.))
Hana is quite impressed by how quickly Hyre seems to be able to catch onto cooking, and the waitresses all seem to treat him more warmly after they find out that Hyre actually managed to prepare more than half the meal by himself, one of them joking that if her husband cooked half as well as Hyre does that they would have a whole flock of kids by now because she wouldn't be able to keep her hands off him. She follows it up with a gratuitous blown kiss towards him.
The large meal is very refreshing, and Hyre's condition goes back to being good after such a hearty meal... made by his own hand, no less.

"I guess you're right, Thomas," Aelar agrees with a laugh. "I'll be seeing you then. I like farm work. It's good for my body." He strikes a pose, sharing another laugh with the farmer. Then he heads over to the mission. Once there he seeks out Sister Daar and asks to speak with her privately.
"Sister Daar," he says, "I'm sorry but I won't be here for a few days." He lowers his voice and in a few brief sentences fills her in on what's going on and their mission to help Raia. "So, you see, I won't be here. Now, I've suggested to Barna that she stay here with you so you still have some help. I think she'll do fine outside but I don't like the idea of you being alone and I know it'll ease my friend, Hyre's, heart some if she's not along so if you can put in a word..." he trails off.
"Also, I need to find a good backpack and also a good hunting knife and some traveling clothes. Any suggestions on a place that won't overcharge me?"

(Sorry for being inactive! I've had a crazy week, but everything should've cleared up by now and I hope to make a post soon. Thanks for your patience!)
Leon continues his training with Geoffrey in the torrent of rain and thunder. As he warms up with the old knight's exercise routine, he feels worse than he did yesterday, as his sore muscles beg for him to stop and take a break. Nevertheless, he knows he has to prepare for the challenges ahead, and with Lazlo's singing he finds it easier to push himself.
(Not sure which bonuses to add, I'll add Strength to Martial weapons and none for ability scores)
Martial Weapons:14
Strength: 8
Constitution: 14
The next few hours pass quickly. With grim determination, he finishes his exercises and moves on to train with Geoffrey. The rain's made the ground even more slippery, yet Leon finds it easier today to keep his balance. Also, he's able to match Geoffrey easier during their dueling.

(When you're rolling to try and build proficiency, don't add any ability score bonuses, but I'll let it slide, that's another success towards martial)

Sister Daar waves off Aelar's worries.
"It's been quiet today, for once nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Just about the only thing I've done all day has been prepare soup and bread. The watchmen seem to have let up on the homeless. In fact, most have said that they haven't seen Watchmen on the street all day, not the ones from the Nest, anyway. They all seem to have been recalled back behind the gate for whatever reason." she says.
Though the timing is a bit suspect; when Aelar snuck out of the library, he wouldn't have been able to put that book he got out BACK so the staff would have found a restricted document just sitting out on the table and realized something was amiss, though they would have almost certainly no means of discovering who did it.
The rest of the group, meanwhile, finish their training in the early afternoon. Sweaty and exhausted, the rain finally gives way to beautiful open skies... but they all are in serious need of doing some laundry.

Grimbuld, having left shortly before the group was finished training, returns with a few armfulls of plain looking clothing. They're simple, baggy smocks that the group can wear while they clean their clothes at the laundering trench.
"Just consider that part of the payment for helping me with those billhooks." he mutters, arms folded. "You'd best earn those."

OOC: Did Daar not have any suggestions for where to buy some gear?
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
Hyre is quite embarrassed by the whole situation. He's not used to being praised. Surely not by many people, definitely not by girls. He tries to respond politely when he must, but most of the time just listens and eats his part. Nodding and trying to smile back with an expression that would hopefully be understood as: 'thank you, I'd say it with words if my mouth wasn't full.' He... enjoyed the appreciation, and he was sure that if he tries to talk too much, they'd figure out his abnormalities and lose interest. Some of them must have noticed him by now, but thankfully he didn't act too weird in the saloon just yet. Not that he remembered doing so. He did burst on the others the previous evening, but that was considered normal, he hoped. At least not too weird.
In particular, he has no idea how to respond to the girl who has blown a kiss towards him. He'd imagine Barna marching over and dragging him away at the sight of that, but she wasn't there to do so. Also, the girl caught him right after he swallowed his food, so the 'my mouth is full' excuse was not one he could use. In the end, the only response he can think of is this: "Thank you, but surely you're exaggerating." He looks towards Hana but continues to talk to the girl. "I've learned it all from her, and I probably didn't learn much yet." Now he's talking to Hana, as it should be obvious. "I hope this can overweight yesterday's results in your decision of allowing me to help you tonight. I'll be extra careful not to burn anything."
Varielky
Hana considers for a few moments while pursing her lips.
"Well, it'd be a good way to see for sure whether y'all'd be able to keep up during the rush. I mean, y'all won't be handling the really hard tasks, but that'd be a big help by itself considering I don't have anyone else reliable to assist in the kitchen. And if I can make y'all a full assistant, we could even add to our menu, maybe drum up a bit more business." she says.
She considers Hyre a few more moments....
Disposition roll: 97
Hana nods.
"You're on, Hyre. If y'all can keep up with me tonight during the rush, I'll take a risk and put you to work full time as my assistant." she says. "But I can't afford to have y'all being all thumbs. Bring your best in the kitchen or it'll be a hunter's moon before I take a chance on y'all again." she warns him.
"You might want to prepare yourself. Y'all look a bit worn out."
Sister Daar responds (perhaps belatedly) to Aelar's question.
"You planning on leaving the city? You know you're supposed to get a permit for that, don't you? At least you have a residence now so you won't get in trouble that way...." she says, then puts two and two together, giving a soft 'aaaah' and drawing closer.
"Well... you won't be the first. Our mutual acquaintance... a certain spider-headed ranger... we have relied upon because... he does what's needed even if the law would label him a criminal." Daar says in a hushed voice.
"You'll find though that when it comes to simple goods like what you asked, you might try the local pawn shops. Plenty of former survivalists hanged up their packs once the gates closed up, and even the less reputable of them would be all too eager to get rid of them. Not a whole lot of people willing to risk arrest or being exiled." she says.
