Kallista smiles a little, "I couldn't till recently..." she stops for a minute, thinking about her words. "And I understand what you're saying... but in my experience, people like you are part of the minority. And the less attention I can draw to myself, even looking the way I do, the better..." after a few more seconds, "did you know there are some tieflings out there that look almost human? Then there's the ones like me..."

(OOC: Yup. In my first post, I had included this:
Notably, the last sentence. I obviously tried to foreshadow there.
Well, I guess it's my fault though. With so much nonsense there some things obviously get missed. It happens to me when reading others' messages too, some times (not in this game, I mean just in general).)

"I know, Kallista. I'm not suggesting you do anything you're not comfortable with. I'm just saying be you and if people want to be stupid. Don't let their stupidity dictate your actions. And the ones like you...you're beautiful. Anyone who thinks differently is just dumb." Aelar smiles at his friends.

(Ahh, yeah, I missed that part, sorry. The fonts all kind of made my eyes cross)
Barna's eyes widen when she hears Hyre say what he does, and she turns away more, before she covers her face and curls up a little bit. She reaches out and punches Hyre in the shoulder several times.
"Don't make fun of me..." she finally says.
While Barna has been aggressively pursuing Hyre, she's wise enough to know that he wouldn't really say such a thing with a clear head. Perhaps he was just trying to make Geoff less suspicious? Especially in her former line of work, she learned early on to not hold out hope of finding anyone who truly cares for her.
Still, her heart skips a beat and makes up for it with a relentless throbbing that pushes more and more blood up into her face. Did he really mean it or it just slipped out while he was trying to think of a response?
Geoff clears his throat.
"Suppose it's none of my business, anyway." he states.
"Well, you two seem harmless enough. You'll know when the chick is about to hatch when the egg goes back to being a shell, and not stone. After it hatches, feeding should be simple enough. Mashed up mince meat of any kind mixed with water will suffice. You'll have some sleepless nights ahead of you if you want the hawk to imprint upon you as a parent, but they mature fairly quickly. After it gets its flight feathers, I'll help you train it. Just... try not to let too many people know the bird is yours. They're typically for nobles and I wouldn't put it past some spoiled rich brat to simply say you stole it." Geoff warns Hyre.
Barna is still trying to regain her composure. Geoff notices her fidgeting and puts his hand on his knee, getting up.
"Read all you want tonight, just remember to close the cellar before you leave... and next time, just knock, would you?" he grumbles.

Kallista hugs the book to her chest. "It's easy for you to say," she says, avoiding eye contact, "you don't have horns, wings, and purple skin reminding everyone of what you are."

Aelar looks at his friend for a long moment, then squats down to be on eye level with her. "Kallista, it's always easy to say stuff like this. I know that. It's the doing that's hard. And while I've no doubt that you have challenges I never will, don't think for an instant I don't know what it's like to be burdened with other people's expectations based on my appearance. People see an elf, a high-elf, and immediately get ideas: weak, haughty, wise, rich, learned...I could go on. I've no idea what it's like to be tieflng and some expectations are more burdensome than others. But I do know what it's like to be judged on my appearance. All I'm saying is that you don't have to base your actions on their reactions. That's it."

(Yeah, I figured that might happen.)
Realising what just happenned, Hyre just listens and nods at Geoffrey while taking the hits from Barna, his cheeks as red as a setting sun.
When Geoffrey leaves, Hyre can't bear the silence. "I..." he starts, "didn't mean to... make fun of you. I just..." 'Just what?' His reason asked. Too embarrassed to continue, Hyre steps forward, grabs a random book and tries reading all the knowledge in, though it doesn't even matter what it is. He just wanted to think of... well, anything else.

"Breakfast? Of course." Lazlo says, "I wonder what my friends are up to...?". The possibility of them being in all kinds of trouble without him (in spite of him) quickly sobers him up. "Carrie- how did I get that violin? Oooh- have you had eggs benedict!?"

(I'll choose the third option)
The inebriating herbs in the water soon takes over Leon's senses, and while he may want to keep himself sober for the morning, his mind soon clouds over as a hallucination settles in.
Strange colors flash around him, and Leon hears laughing and giggling- some of it his own. The hallucination grows stronger as he realizes he has wandered into a tavern, and begins chugging down mugs of ale. The sensation intensifies until he completely blacks out.
The morning sun wakes him as Leon feels a splitting headache. As he regains his senses, he finds himself in a nice hotel bed with...a woman next to him. A discarded pile of clothing is on the floor, containing not only his newly-purchased attire but a fine dress as well. She must be quite wealthy.
Leon has no idea what actions led him to this point. As his mother had always told him, his silver tongue of his often gets in trouble. His drowsiness is broken when he realizes he has to meet the blacksmith to go to work.
Leon quickly gets dressed, but not wanting to abandon the fine lady he met last night, he quickly finds a piece of paper and an inkwell. He scrawls a quick note and leaves it on the nightstand, before heading out for the smithy.

Barna looks to Hyre, then down to the book she was going to flip through idly, then back to Hyre.
"It's.. all right. We only met the other day. It would be ridiculous to think of.." she says quietly, turning a few pages.
Hyre suddenly feels Barna's arms close in around him from behind.
"It... still made me really happy to hear that. I hope... when I've earned it, I can hear it for real from you, someday." she says, giving him a squeeze.
"What... was that, anyway? When you go quiet, and your eyes dart about. What's wrong? Have you always been like that?" she asks, turning him to face her.
Carmine grins and squeezes Lazlo's hand.
"Oh, I'm fairly certain you swiped that from the Horseshoe. They have a terrible stage act. Probably don't even miss it. The only fiddler they have plays it like he's washing a screaming cat." she says.
"I'll eat just about anything right now. We worked up quite a hunger, dancing all night on our feet and then between the sheets." she giggles, then blinks curiously as she actually finds a familiar face approaching the two of them.
"Well, look who it is. I guess we weren't the only ones who ended up here." she says as she spots Leon making his way towards them.
"Leon, right? I definitely have some holes in my memory but I do somehow remember you tagging along with us. You said you wanted to keep us out of trouble, but it looks like you found some of your own!" Carmine laughs at Leon's disheveled appearance.
((Leon, do a D20 check and add your dex, con, and cha bonuses together for me ;3 ) If you get more than 18, Leon also finds 16 extra silver in his pocket that he is sure wasn't there before. Also, roll 1D10 for the lady--1 is a human, 2 is a half-elf, 3 is a tiefling, 4 is a half-orc, 5 is a dark elf, 6 is a firbolg, 7 is a goliath, 8 is a shifter, 9 is a 'kindall' which I'll describe later if it comes up and 10 is your choice))
Kina gets herself dressed, realizing what time it is. Sister Daar offers to 'walk' Aelar and Kallista back to the farm... and it's then that they realize that Leon, Lazlo, and the Satyrs have all disappeared from the pool.
"I hope they don't get in too much trouble..." Kina says, stretching her back.
"I'm going to sleep in the barracks for tonight. I'll be leaving for Hon at first light. Take care of yourselves. I'll look for you at Goodwin's Farm once I return. You kids are really something else, though. You may not even need to be there anymore after a week goes by." she says, patting Aelar and Kallista on the shoulder.
"I'll take good care of them, Kina." Sister Daar says, bidding Kina goodnight as she leaves.

Leon laugh as he responds to Carmine.
"I found a bit more than trouble last night."
He shows the 9 silver pieces inside his pocket with a smile.
"Her generosity was surprising- she must have not found me lacking. Anyways, I have an appointment at the smithy that I can't miss. Else I risk Duncan's wrath..."

All these feelings are really strange to Hyre, simply because he had never felt them before. And that thing he said earlier? He didn't know who said that, but he definately didn't mean to. Not that they were wrong, but he never spoke without thinking first...
When she hugs him from behind, he feels his heart starts racing and his body definately felt like it was heating up. Was this it? He heard about it in countless stories but never quite managed to understand it himself. It seemed so natural to everyone else, but to him...
Still puzzled, confused, abashed and stirred, Barna turns him towards her. A few meanless syllables escape his mouth as he tries to speak, but then he stops. Remembering what Geoffrey has just told him, Hyre takes a moment to organise his thoughts. Well, maybe more than just one moment. Time passes as Barna looks at Hyre who mostly tries to look back at her, but keeps shifting his eyes to avoid looking directly into her eyes. When he finally feels like he can speak, he starts hesitantly: "I've... always been this way, though it didn't happen this frequently in a long time. Things that come naturally to others, they're not like that for me. Right and wrong, communicating with others and various other things. But above all - feelings. Both mine and others'. These are the kinds of things I had to learn while others just know it. At least most of it." Hyre goes silent for a long moment, but eventually continues. "So being that way, I don't always understand. When I don't understand others I can think for long about it, or just drop it; sometimes these are things I won't be able to understand even if I live a hundred years more. When the one I don't understand is me though... I can't just keep going. I have to stop until I know what I'm doing, what I'm feeling. Sometimes the 'fit' is brief, more like a twitch. Other times... well, you've seen what happens. I have ways to deal with it, but they don't always work. Especially if the feeling is too strong.
"As years passed, I managed to learn to understand myself better, so these fits became rare. I think the last winter passed with only one or two. But, after I met you, I think it happened two - no, three? I'm not sure exactly. In some cases I remember it happened, in others I don't. Well, you probably know better than me, being around all the time."
Hyre looks at Barna. Now, he's looking right at her without moving his eyes, glaring at her eyes, trying to see her reaction. He wasn't this open with this matter with... almost anyone. He was sure his close friends already knew this much, but they've never really talked about it. Everyone had that something everyone were aware to but didn't talk about. Maybe that's what brought them together.

Aelar waved to Kina. "Don't forget about the silver and especially the tools." As they three headed back to the farm, Aelar filled Sister Daar in on his vision. This time he included the part at the end with his parents and Raia. Turning to Kallista, he says, "Please forgive me for not telling you about that part before. It was too personal at the time, since my parents were part of it and...well, they...well you know what happened to them." The young elf couldn't talk for a bit, then, "Do either of you have any ideas or thoughts?"
