I catch my breath, pause for a moment to remove the offensive arrow, and feel my body begin to knit itself back together with a crackling, spark. "I sincerely hope I never have to meet the source of my powers, but I can't say I'm not sometimes grateful..."
I look over at Lorys and regret the comment immediately. I rush over and panic slightly, "I'm not particularly good at this, so... apologies in advance..." and begin to try to stabilize the ranger's wounds.
The healing above is from my Warlock's Patron blessing - when I reduce an enemy to 0 hp, I get 4 temp hp, just for the record :)
and I'll make a wisdom/medicine check to see if I can stabilize Lorys:
(Gerard starts searching the 2 Goblins near the altar. The ‘Bess’ Goblin has a cheap dagger and leather armor. The other Goblin has a rapier, dagger and a crappy Short bow as well as the ratty leather armor. Between them they had coppers adding up to 1 silver.)
(Nikta grabs the First Aid Kit that Rickard gave the party and uses one of the charges to bandage up Lorys as best as he can. Lena also tries to help, and between the 2 of them they carefully remove the 2 arrows and patch her wounds. After a couple of minutes, Lorys opens her eyes and looks up weakly at her companions.)
(Meanwhile, Gerard keeps searching the charred bodies of the other Goblins. The armor and weapons on them are pretty ruined by the fire from Nikta’s Burning Hands spell, but Gerard finds coppers adding up to 3 silver. The dim light in the room makes this a little difficult. On the wall behind the Goblins, Gerard notices carvings on the wall, but can’t make out much because of the light situation.)
DMs notes: Ok, just to make sure everyone knows where they stand:
Carxus: 4 HP (4/9 HP) 1 Spell slot used
Nikta: 6 HP + 4 Temporary HP (6/10 HP) 1 Spell slot used
Lorys: 1 HP (1/9 HP) (House rule First Aid Kit stabilizes with 1 HP)
Gerard: 10 HP (10/12 HP)
Lena: 10 HP (10/10 HP) 1 Spell slot used
Also, yes, you’re gaining Experience, but not enough to level up quite yet.
OOC: I should be at 10/10 with the 4 Temporary HP, correct? They'd last till we make a long-rest if I'm not mistaken - and thanks for the house-rule clarification on the healing - I was going off of the PHB medicine roll rule, I'll make sure to pick up a med kit or two when we're back at civilization ;)
Also - I'm remembering I have darkvision, as well as the tieflings in the group - are the sigils or cave any more visible to us in light (pun intended) of that?

"Of course, Gerard." Lena moves over too him to light up the area. When she gets there, she begins to look at the carvings on the walls next to Gerard.
(Gerard inspects the cloak of the 'Bess' Goblin very carefully, leaning down over the dead body. As he does so, some post-mortem flatulance escapes from the corpse, right in Gerard's face! The foul odor lingers on Gerard, who now noticeably stinks. Also, he didn't really see anything special about the cloak.)
Spoiler for Gerard:
LOL :D Sorry, buddy, you rolled a crit fail. It could have been worse, though.
(Lena casts Produce Flame and lights up the walls for everyone to see. Everyone had previously been to preoccupied to really take much notice of the surroundings, but the light now illuminates the carvings on the wall.
The carvings are pretty large and seem to depict several different scenes that show what appears to be an order of knights in several battles. In one of them, the knights are shown defeating what appears to be an army of Goblins, led by a particularly vicious looking, larger Goblin. The next carving shows the knights standing victorious over a field of dead Goblin bodies. As you see one of the other depictions, they show a huge Dragon terrorizing a village, burning homes and killing innocent villagers with vicious fire. The next mural shows the knights slaying the Dragon. The knights are all shown with matching insignia on their armor and shields.)
Spoiler for Carxus:
As you look at the mural then look at the brazier in the middle of the room, you vaguely remember hearing about how, in olden days, people would bring offerings to the tombs of patron orders of knights. This seems to you to be the case, which would mean this is some sort of tomb for the order of knights depicted. You don't remember or know which particular Order this would be. (Your roll was History, btw)
(As the party goes along the northern wall, following and inspecting the murals, you see a large carving of a very regal-looking knight. His armor looks more intricate than the rest, making you all think he might have been the leader or founder. Underneath, the name 'Sextus Varius' is inscribed. Next to him, there is a further inscription that reads as follows:
"I pledge to serve law, protect the innocent, battle the agents of chaos, and never reveal the secrets of the Delian Order. My word is my bond, my life and honor is for the order, for this night and all nights to come."
This seems to be the extent of what is on the northern wall.)
DM's notes: Sorry about that Nikta, I'd marked your Temporary HP for Carxus by accident. It's fixed now. As far as your question, having read up on it, it looks like the Temporary HP is separate from your regular HP. So, for example, you could have your full 10 HP + 4 Temporary HP, but once you lose your Temporary HP, they're gone.
If you want to look at a different part of the room, go ahead and give me a Perception check and specify where you're looking around based on the little sketch I provided. (Your basic options are East Wall, Brazier, South Wall, back the way you came, etc.) If you want to do anything else, please let me know.
I’ll wander over and check out the brazier and whatever is beyond that to the east/right of the map, just trying to generally case the area to see if anything sticks out...

Jacob Bray - The Call of Lon-Dia, Human Bloodhunter 3
(Nikta goes over to the Brazier and inspects it. It seems to be made of copper, very old and with lots of signs of wear. The Goblins even seem to have been using it as a makeshift fire pit to cook their meals. You don't find anything else unusual there. You also take a quick look at the East wall of the room. It is mostly in shadow and just seems to be a regular wall.)
(Lena looks over the pillar. It's a very dirty beige color, perhaps it used to be white a long time ago. The bottom has a simple carved pattern of circles. The middle is very beat up, like it's been cut and hit many times by swords and arrows at different times. Nothing else jumps out at you.)
(Gerard is very meticulously inspecting the carvings on the wall, going over them for some clue of their meaning.)
Spoiler for Gerard:
As you look over the other, less prominent parts of the mural, you see that it is not only Goblins that this Order has battled, but various different types of 'evil' creatures such as Orcs, Kobolds and even other humans. The common thread you see is that the Order always seems to be doing everything for the good of the 'common' people: townspeople, farmers, villagers, those who cannot defend themselves. You seem to recall that in times past, the villagers would show their gratitude to their protectors, such as these, by helping build tombs to honor those who fell in battle or who had performed truly epic and heroic deeds.
(Gerard continues to search the stonework, looking for loose stones or anything that they could have overlooked, but doesn't seem to find anything. He stands before the Inscription of the Oath of the Delian Order and reads it out loud. A few tense moments pass, but nothing seems to happen.)
(Carxus, meanwhile, seems to be truly focusing on taking in a more complete perspective of the layout of the room. He looks over the southern wall, walking along it and running his hand over the stones, before switching to the eastern wall and doing the same.)
Spoilers for Carxus:
As you run your hand over the stones and crevices, you come to a spot where you seem to feel a little bit of a gap between some stones. As you dig your hand into the gap, you feel what seems to be a secret door built in to look like part of the wall.
DM's notes: Guys, go ahead and give me a pre-emptive Perception check, just to keep things flowing smoothly.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"No," Lorys says, gritting her teeth. She has stood up and walked over to the rest through sheer strength of will alone, but one hand is pressed against her torso where the arrow entered. "Bess is still in danger. To waste time now could kill her." She stumbles, but catches herself and hisses in pain as she does so. "But to press forward without a plan would be reckless. The goblins were waiting for us. Though they underestimated us here, we can not assume that this is their only defence."
(Carxus carefully opens the door, checking for traps (I'm using your original Perception check for this), but finds none. The door makes a loud groan that echoes from the other side.)
Spoilers if you have Dark Vision:
You peer inside and see rocks and other cave formations. It looks like a pretty large cave.
DM's Notes: I think I confused you guys, the Perception checks weren't for the door, they were for after the door, so I made a DM decision to make sure being scared of opening the door wasn't stopping the flow of the game. Also, I'm really trying to not railroad you all, but walking around with 1 HP isn't a good idea, and a short rest is only 1 hour, so you can all reasonably assume Bess should be safe if you need to rest. If you do decide to take a short rest, please tell me where you do so (in here, go back outside, in the next room, etc) and if you do anything other than just rest.
Also, I'm going to need party order again, so feel free to throw up a number 1-5 like last time.
