Dolgrim seems quite irritated and grows more grumpy as the conversation with the guards goes on. I thought humans are crazy, but you're a completely new level of CRAZY, be it your way. We won't be wasting any more time with you. Dolgrim takes a few deep breaths and turns to his friends, still visibly irritated. I agree, let us not waste out time if we are not wanted here. Before we leave though, I suggest we just inform the gnomes in the kitchen and offer them that they can follow us to Phandalin if they want to, what do you think? They seemed to be quite "reasonable", at least compared to the local standards. If they chose to stay here, it's their choice.
As they walk away, Barthrum says, "Both of the helpful people that way, right? We're not missing anything, are we? Lets ask the crazy crossbow woman as a last resort and then head back to Phandalin."
The Gnomes look pleased as you all back away and walk back where you came from. Also, very relieved, as if the great danger has gone away. As you walk north the way you've gone multiple times already, you reach where Facktore is still working on her crossbow platform. She doesn't shoot anybody though. In fact, she's somewhere under the platform, but you can hear her whistling from underneath, and the familiar cyan hand occasionally appears and picks a tool lying on the floor, then drops it down through some hole that you couldn't see before, one you could probably squeeze through. It's probably where Facktore is at.
If you choose to climb on the platform (no check needed) you can look down through the hole and see that Facktore is indeed inside. She can't see you as she's busy with work on some metallic pipe. Even as the cyan hand rises up to pick another tool, she doesn't look up, and you have to move a step back to avoid getting slapped by mistake.
Facktore looks up, directly at you. "Oh, hello there. Back again? Sadly, I never had a brilliant idea that could defeat a dragon. Even with this marvellous piece of machinery," she knocks with the tool she's holding (which looks similar to a pipe wrench, but it's a tool none of you has ever seen before) on the metallic pipe, "I'd rather try to run and hide from a dragon than fight it. If there's anything that could aid you in such a task here in Gnomengarde, only Fibblestib or Dabbledob would know. Didn't you go to meet them already? Had they nothing to offer?"
Barthrum says, "Oh we tried to go meet one of them at least. The fellows in the next room are super trigger happy about shapeshifters and wouldn't let us pass again. The first time we got to a spinning blades thingie, but didn't know how to pass."
He looks at his companions and raises a finger to hold on for just one moment more. "Is there a different way to reach either of them? And would you be able to accompany us lest we run into some more danger?"
Facktore makes a hesitant face and thinks for a few moments before finally climbing out of the hole. Now that she's close, you can almost speak normally, albeit still loudly to overcome the waterfall. At least you don't have to hurt your throats shouting for a few moments. "I can't guide you, I must finish the work on this platform. The king ordered weapons to deal with shapechangers. I don't know what's the deal with shapechangers, neve' seen one before, but..." She hesitates for a bit, clearly, she didn't want to talk about the subject, but eventually continues. "Maybe the king saw something. We used to be twenty-two Gnomes here, now we're only twenty. No one has seen Orryn or Warryn in the past Tenday, and that's about when king Korboz shut himself in..." She stops, thinking for a moment. Suddenly, she begins to climb down the hole again. "That's all I can tell you. Anyway, I need to get back to work."
Barthrum says, "Well. Apparently we have met like half the population already. So it's not just a few crazy individuals, it's a sizable portion of them that are nuts. Time to go back home."
He takes a few breaths to be able to continue having a very loud conversation. "Strange though that both leaders have gone nuts at around the same time."
Hehe, going nuts in here is a very fuzzy term in here I guess. Says dolgrim a starts to laguht. Anyway, are we still sticking to the plan of leaving this place? If so lets offer the cooks a chance to leave with us and then head back to Phandalin.
“Aye well I see no point in getting killed by an insane gnome for a share of fifty gold coins”
Looks at the others
”I will not sell my life quite so cheap. And if this shapeshifter nonsense is real? Then maybe threatening to kill us was a bad way to get help. I will not worry either way.”
"Safe travels!" The Gnome calls after you as you leave the room heading north. In her voice, you can hear a sort of jiggle, as if she doesn't expect them to be safe.
When you reach the kitchen, the Gnomes look at you as you enter and then go back to their business. After a moment, without raising her head to look at you, the Gnome on the table, making the dough, asks you: "Well, what now? Found what you've been looking for?"
Not really, we were met only with hostility and crazyness. we decided to leave your town. Before we leave though, we decided to give you an offer. We are going to Phandalin if anyone of you wants to join us, you can do so now. If you decide to staym we hope the dragon spares your town.
"A dragon?" The Gnome you remember as Dimble asks. "What has one of those to look for in here? Mushroom whine perhaps?" Even the other Gnomes don't laugh. He seems disappointed. "We've been living here our whole life. We have no reason to go. Would you leave your house for a ridiculous rumour about a dragon? Even if you'd claim to have seen it, how could we believe you?"
Dolgrim, still annoyed by what has happened in the town answers the gnome. Yes we have seen it, and it almost managed to take one of us away for a dinner. After the welcome we received in your town, I really don't care if you believe us or not, yet we decided to give you chance to leave with us, take it or leave it, I really no longer care. When his monologue is over, dolgrim turns around and leaves the kitchen, and heads to the exit from the town.
Barthrum backs out of the room and says, "Yeah, back home we go. What ********"
"Idiots. I am not afraid of her pathetic magic but nor do I think such fools could have anything of any value other than their worthless gadgets."
He looks at the gnomes with withering scorn
"None of your foolishness will help against the real threat"
Turning back to his fellow dwarves
"Let us not waste one more moment of our time on them, we have wasted too much already"

"The crazy woman will probably try to shoot us again, best to have your shields at the ready"
Moves to be behind the others as he does not have a shield

Barthrum raises his voice, "Hello! Lady Facktore! You seem very inventive, might you have something to help us fight a dragon?"
He shrugs at the others, but just in case decides to shift himself towards the exit.
Realises that Barthrum has chosen to speak with the crazy gnome again
Hides behind him, just in case. Trying to focus on his best protective magics
