"Clearly, I wasn't talking about you, Pretty Boy."Fargrim let out another bellowing laugh and took a pull from the flask he kept on him. "Let's go meet our new Queen."
'fffraumph....stonebreakers are a handsome people, always have been...should see me in my good robes....need to get my braids reoiled as soon as......' the cleric continues to mumble under his breath as he adjusts his cloak and his gear, shifting things this way and that, clearly nervous for their impending audience.
Sc 2: Kurstin took the opportunity to apply some adhesives and antiseptic cream on his cuts, and rub a mint-smelling cream on his bruises. By the time Sabina returned, he was hale and healed, ready for the next leg of their adventure. (Healing up to 9 HP by expending 1HD)
While waiting, he talks with the other members of this group. "Should we have a group name? Something we can be known as? Maybe 'The Harrowers'in recognition of how we met, and how we treat the criminals who choose to cause mayhem in our city?"

Sc 2: Radgar breathed a sigh of relief at the opportunity to take a longer respite. He reached down and loosened the greave on his right leg, reaching under to find the nagging cut that was causing his limp. Deft hands bandaged the wound and then reworked the padding on the armor's interior to cut down on the irritation from walking. He noted some damage to the leather straps that held it in place, he'd have to repair that tonight back at his little forge. (Short rest expending two HD 14)

Sc 2: Fargrim uses Second Wind to heal 7 HP before his short rest. "I kinda like that name for this group. Some of you are a bit sanctimonious for me but I think we could make a good team. I don't mind sticking around as long as you'll have me."

Sc #2: Performance: 18 Song of Rest Healing for party: 6
Kaisaras, being told that they would be waiting and recalling how such things often took some time, opts to play a light tune to set the mood. He pulls out his viol and begins with a slow but warm song, to ease away the group's tension and nerves. As the song plays, he perks up an eyebrow at the idea of having a team name...certainly, it would benefit them to have some identity if there was to be trouble. "So long as we keep helping this city and its people, then I don't see an issue continuing on with all of you." He offered a slight smile, before focusing back on his music.
Sc #3: With Sabrina returning to guide them to the Queen, Kaisaras put away his viol and offered a light bow to the handmaiden, "We've determined to call ourselves the Harrowers, milady." He held off on giving his true name until it was required, if she or the Queen didn't recall such information, then all the more benefit for him as an additional card to play.

He held off on giving his true name until it was required, if she or the Queen didn't recall such information, then all the more benefit for him as an additional card to play.
Sabina looked at you all rather flatly before responding, "If that is how you wish to be called. I will still need the rest of your names and any titles you may have before we proceed." she added pointing to the four non-nobles in the room. Though she didn't expressly state it, it was rather clear that Sabina was well aware of the Bard's true identity once he removed his disguise!
(@Kai: as a note, you've met the late king on a couple of occasions but have never met the queen.)
Standing stiffly, his calf still sore, the cleric smoothed out his beard and spoke formally 'I am Radgar Stonebreaker, of the Stonebreaker Clan. Son of The Stonebreaker himself, sworn to the service of the forge and of Moradin who's flame lights the way and remakes the world. I am at your service'. A clumsy bow, a little too deep at the waist so that his Warhammer came loose, which he only just managed to catch before it smashed into his armored boot. A fumbled recovery and the dwarf straightened himself out, his cheeks flushed with exertion and embarrassment.
Fargrim stood casually and assessed Sabina. There was a time when this would have been a highlight of his life but that wide eyed optimism and naivete had died long ago. "You can call me Hoghead" he said flatly. He had no use for all this pomp and certainly didn't want to bow and scrape to this new young girl calling herself Queen. He didn't mind helping her out but didn't feel obligated to do anything.
Kaisaras would match and hold Sabina's flat gaze, before giving a curt nod, "Kaisaras of House Ironward, Wardens of the East, and leaders of the Steel Brigade." He didn't bow as Radgar did, but he did place a hand over his heart as he spoke to Sabina, giving her due respect. He gave a light smile at the actions of the two dwarfs in the party, but kept his focus on the handmadien.
The artificer bowed as he was taught by his parents. "I am Kurstin Blacksteam, an artificer at Theumanexus College." Standing straight, he continued, "My parents own a bookshop near the center of East Shore - The Siren's Song. Perhaps you've heard of it? If you visit I'll show you my favorite reading nook in the entire city!" His smile was honest and open and he gazed at Sabina as if she was just another girl at college.
Until he heard Radgar's brusque laugh and realized just who he was addressing and how familiar he had been. That's when the young man's face turned bright red and he looked down in embarrassment, trying to melt into the very stone walls and become invisible!

Arcane Recovery - recovering one level 1 spell slot.
Second Wind refreshes and will be immediately reused (2) in an attempt to heal.
Scene 2: Over the course of the momentary respite provided as the castle prepares to meet the party, Danse took the moment to ensure all his magical props and gear were in order and prepared for an audience - what was a meeting besides a chance to entertain? Shuffling his deck of cards in hand, he revitalized himself and select his most impressive routine of illusionism and swordsmanship that would bedazzle even the most dour Korvosians out there. His usual grin spread across his features as he heard Kurstin's words - the young artificer certainly proved to be as inventive with words as he was with items. Danse respected that. "Excellent name, Kurstin - an attractive banner to ride under is essential to drawing any sort of attention or acclaim. As for me? I have little else to turn besides the streets - and traveling with you has drawn me enough audience to keep me running."
Scene 3: Danse swiveled around to greet Sabina once more. At being addressed, he would normally provide a little flourish of his scimitars to accompany his usual method of greeting - however, at this time, and with tension so tight in the air, Danse neglected to reach for his scimitars, instead choosing to sweep his arms in a grand gesture and bend at the waist, leaning forward on one knee in an egregiously ostentatious bow. "I am Danse Macabre, the finest swordsman to wander the humble streets of Korvosia," the Half-Elf announces, slowly righting himself into a standing position. "Legerdemain of blades and manipulator of perception - and, above all, an entertainer. It is a pleasure to walk these halls."
Scene #3: Entering the throne room, Kaisaras couldn't help but feels his breath turn cold in his chest. This was the seat of power for all the Kings and Queens of Korvosa, this was the point from which the city was ruled. Even with the word for them to hold, Kaisaras still offered a polite bow, his eyes closing before opening as his head bobbed back up, looking to see the figure of both the Queen, and the Crimson Throne. The desire to speak was held back by years of education and understanding of political etiquette. While there might have been some goodwill to them for their achievement, it was spent on this meeting and reward alone, they had not yet earned the right to speak to their monarch....at least not here. This sat heavy in Kaisaras, even as he was handed the ornate chest that held fortunes that could feed some families generations. It was hard to describe, this foreign sense of inferiority on his tongue,...he didn't like it. Still, as the Queen spoke and left, he kept his face stoic and bowed his head as Sabina led them out, "Thank you."
Scene #4: Kaisaras would meet the Marshal's gaze, softening his own stance as he noticed how haggard the woman looked. Those were the eyes of someone who was working hard to do their duty, it was a gaze that Kaisaras had some familiarity with from both his family, the brigade, and himself. He offered a polite bow, "Marshal Cressida Kroft I assume? I am Kaisaras Ironward, and these are my companions. We're currently calling ourselves the Harrowers." Raising his head, he'd pull out the note that he'd been carrying, before holding it out for her to take, "We've come from the Citadel to see your situation here and bring back word."
Scene #3: Kurstin happily took his three gold bars, tucking them into his pack. "Wow! I never thought I'd EVER get to meet the queen! A shame she must experience such loss at such an early time in her life," he said to nobody in particular. "And Kai! A noble?!! Do we need to call you Sir or M'Lord now? Why were you hiding - didn't you trust us?"

Scene 3
The majesty of the throne room and the surroundings had their desired effect on Fargrim. Even through his cynicism and jaded exterior, it was still a sight to behold. He would have loved to be able to make a pithy remark to the queen but he stood dumbfounded. After she left and Kaisaras began dividing up the reward, Fargrim said "I was with you when we protected the noble but I wasn't there when you recovered the brooch. I will only take what you group deem as fair for my efforts."
Scene 4
Fargrim listened as Kaisaras spoke with the Field Marshall. After she read the note sent from Sergeant Farima, Fargrim added "Sergeant Farima also wants you to know that she misses you." Fargrim says this without a hint of irony. Deception 13
Radgar stood stiffly, shifting ever so slightly from foot to foot, as the Queen address them. He watched with the interest only another dwarf could match as the intricately carved box full of lovely gold was handed over, the gleam in his eye giving away the greed of his kind. As they were dismissed, he bowed clumsily at the waist and followed the rest of his comrades out of the hall, staying close to Kaisaras, ready to take the chest off his hands if needed.
Sc 4:
As the group approaches the Marshall, Radgar would position himself near the front with Kai. He would be careful to take his queues from the young noble, bowing when he did and holding his tongue while he pulled the note from his pocket and presented it to the harried-looking woman. Stonebreakers were known for being direct, forthright and straightforward. Some people took that approach as rude, brusque, and dismissive. He was hoping to learn to do better - or at least not make it worse.
Scene #3: Kaisaras glances to Kurstin as he exclaims over his lineage, a single chuckle and light smile is offered before he shakes his head, "Call me as you wish. As for why I stayed hidden...well, you never asked, so I let you make your assumptions." He wasn't lying, there was some small amusement in letting others look at his disguised form and making assumptions, only to expose them when he showed off his true self. There was more to it of course, but even if he trusted the skills of his companions, they'd only known each other for a day, and he wouldn't reveal all his cards to them yet.
Kaisaras looks at Fargrim as he speaks to his own contributions, passing him his 3 gold bars, "Then take it as payment for your trust. Let there be no value placed on those who are willing to stand by other's side." He then pats the dwarf on the shoulder before continuing on behind Sabrina.
Cressida looked at you all in confusion for a moment before a look of recognition crossed her face. “Ah, yes - you are the ones sent by Queen Ileosa I was told to expect. Greetings! My name is Cressida, and heroes of your caliber are exactly what Korvosa needs now. You’ve been on the streets. You know as well as I do how bad things are out there. It’s breaking my heart to see Korvosa tear itself apart like this. Every little bit of aid we can get from upstanding citizens like you helps. If you’re willing, I’d very much like to retain your services as agents of the Guard. You will, of course, be well compensated for these services.”
Pausing for a moment as if she suddenly just heard the rest of what you all previously said, she added, "Sergeant Farima? You've been to the citadel recently??" Sitting back down tiredly in her chair, she rubbed her head for a moment before looking at you all once again. "I apologize, it has been a long night. I'm hoping that when the sun rises, most of the city well have calmed themselves enough to end most of the rioting."
Sighing for a moment as she collected herself, she looked to Kaisaras first and said, "Ironward you said. I guess that makes you one of Lucian's boys then. What is the status with the Steel Brigade?"
Then looking to Fargrim, "And it seems very unlike the Sergeant. I guess the situation around the Citadel is worse than I feared it would be. Perhaps I gave her too much responsibility too soon..." Her face seemed to crease with worry as she spoke.
DC12 History Check: to know the following about Cressida:
Field Marshal Cressida Kroft is famously known throughout Korvosa as a former part-time adventurer who foiled a deadly plot during the weeks-long festivities celebrating the city’s third centennial in 4707 AR (Less than a year ago). When she stopped a small group of Norgorber cultists (Major Deity; God of thievery, secrets and assassination) from poisoning the food of a grand feast to be held in Eodred’s Square, she not only saved the lives of hundreds, but drove the cult of Norgorber from Korvosa entirely. Cressida’s star rose high among Korvosa’s common folk and elite alike, and she was swiftly appointed to the position of Field Marshal—leader of the Korvosan Guard—by the late King Eodred.
