Korrik looks around for a tarp or blanket to put over the remains of the creature and its former handlers so they don't need to be constantly reminded.
"Ugh, I'm no good in armor. Just slows me down. It got me good a few times, but I was fighting with my eyes closed! Next time we face one, we'll ask it to fight fair and close its eyes too and we'll see how well I come out. Besides, it's not the sweat and dust that provides me, it's my optimism and magnetic personality!"
"Seriously though... I'll be alright, but know I'd have been just as bad off as those two if you guys didn't have my back. It's... it's been a while since I've had a crew I knew had my back. Thanks."
Korrik finds a spot to curl up as far as he can manage from the remains in the back and takes a nap.
"Right, the eye closed thing. Well I never felt anything from it so there must have been a range for it's... whatever. I have to say that I am surprised it's former captors both looked at it, they must have known. Or why didn't they cover it's eyes?"
He looks over to the crate the people parts are stored in then back to Ess and Korrik,
"I guess we'll never know."
That moment of reflection over,
"So now we have a carriage! We should go about changing it's appearance..."
((Anything about the carriage identifiable from the outside? If it does he'll start seeing how he can 'fix' these.))
((Correct, but don't worry, the d20 was just an encounter test for the night.))
The carriage is a very vanilla looking carriage. It does not have any identifiers as to where it might be from or who it might belong to. You are free to change its appearance though in any way you might see fit!
Ok, so the rest of the travel on this day goes quite well. I mean, there are some awkward moments when each of you reflect on what is in the carriage and what you just went through with Korrik almost turning to stone, but for the most part everything seems ok in the world. And as Busren said, now you have a carriage!
You would find a suitable place to camp away from the road, and unless you guys want to RP a bit during the evening, the night goes well with no unwanted events and you all sleep well. You can take a long rest. Make sure you also use a rations there won't be much harvestable plants around these plains. You can try to hunt with a survival check as there might be something around. Ess has fed both horses and ate a ration. Let me know if I missed any particulars about the camp because I know this is glossed over, and camping is fun!
Ok - last day of travel! I was thinking... maybe we take a chance and do one more road event, and regardless of what it is, you guys will have earned enough experience with the travel and these events plus that last croc hunt to achieve level 3. This will help the small party size as well as give Ess another sidekick level as we arrive into Saltmarsh and you guys have the long rest somewhere there to engage the level 3.
If you guys are on board, please whoever sees this first roll the d100 one more time!

((Only RP I'd like is for Busren to show them he can play well!
Edit: Well crap.))
As the three are sitting munching on rations Ben will declare,
"Okay, I was thinking about the events of the day and I think I can make it into a song. It will be on the lighter side. It's unfortunate we didn't learn those two's names else I could have dedicated it to them. Listen to this."
He then plays a jaunty song loosely based on what happened, and what he guesses happened, from the lizard's perspective. It concludes with the lizard being ridden away by a mighty halfling.
Unfortunately the rhymes don't work and the story isn't as funny as it was in Ben's head.

Korrik can't help but be charmed by the song, despite it's shortcomings. Kind of reminds him of when one of his younger cousins would try to tell a story...
He'll 'upgrade' their rations a bit, is the others are interested, turning them into a simple stew with some fresh flatbread.
((Rolling, so that Ben isn't the only one with a chance to make a poor showing. Added WIS to represent him cooking by feel and intuition?))

"Once I've got proper ingredients, I'll have to cook up some of my favorite dishes. Maybe find some crocs and see what they taste like. Ess and I've been sampled by crocs, figure we ought to try them!"
Korrik's in good spirits, he's still alive, after all.
Well, Korrik seems to like the song even though it's definitely not one of Busren's best! Like he mentioned, he's just still probably high on the fact that he is still alive, so anything would sound good at this point. haha! Korrik, you are able to turn the rations into a stew easily enough with your experience and spices that you picked up, but it might not taste exactly like you were hoping for. Almost, but not quite. Ess says "not bad, man."
As you start your last day of travel, you likely start to feel excitement as you know you only have a day's worth of travel left, if that. "Man, it'd be cool if Marshswamp has a decent inn, yeah?!"
Ok, that 42 roll equates to something that won't fit in our game. And now that I am thinking about it, let's not force another random encounter. We've had 2, and I think there will be enough RP and interaction and maybe even some rolls once we arrive in Marshswamp which should justify the level 3 once you guys find somewhere to sleep in town. So - this last day of the journey goes without any trouble or stops as the carriage rolls along smoothly and the horses are happy. Everyone is great. Korrik isn't stone!
Alright, I need some time to get this next post together as we will be arriving into the town. If you look at the Marshswamp map, we will be arriving at point #1, which is the main gate/entrance into the town. I am aiming to get this next one out later today.
((At least he knows Ben's competent where it counts, his inspiration and encouragement kept Korrik alive... but maybe this music thing is kind of a vanity passion project, and he should just stick to motivational speaking? ;P ))
"Bit lacking in veg... some onion and carrot would go a long way. Fresh meat'd have a better texture than rehydrated jerky, but it's easier on the jaw that gnawing away at it!"
"Yeah, I forget how nice it is to have a warm, dry bed, and not have to wonder if something's creeping up on you."

((yup correct, that is a good point about Ben knowing the general layout of the place and the inn etc. I will ensure that is implemented into the next post once you arrive))
For Ben:
Your crotch has been itchy since you woke up this morning, and you've noticed some red dots on and around your junk.
If I don't get the post out today, it'll be tomorrow latest. I think I want to read the Saltmar.. I mean Marshswamp chapter again as there are a good number of NPC's and I just want to be more prepared. Thanks for the patience!
So, as we have discussed, Ben has some good background knowledge about the town given his roll. I have added some background info about the place in our google sheet on the Marshswamp tab, and this we can assume Ben knows about all of it, and has told Ess and Kay during the journey.
You are going to be entering the town after day 3 of your journey. You will be arriving late afternoon, tired and hungry but excited to be arriving. You also have the carriage, and the contents of course :)
So you guys will be rolling up to the main gates. (#1 on the Marshswamp map). I will not post a visual of what it looks like, but you can see from the town map that there is a significant wall/gate which is made of stone and what seems like a ditch which is protecting the town entrance. The garrison at the gate consists of a number of older guards.
I will pause here to let you take in the stuff I have added to the google sheet and to ask any questions and/or RP if you see fit before your arrival. (ie. change Ben's appearance.). Then I will go ahead and have the guards greet you.

"You think it'll be an issue, you being you?". Korrik asks Ben when he comments about the general view of tieflings.
"I mean, it's more than I've had to deal with, most people tend to overlook me. But anyone wants to start a fuss, they'll be learning manners right quick.", he rattles his staff against the bars of the cage that he's perched upon.
""Ess, I know you were pretty new to the DRG, but you heard any word on this Brotherhood?"
Korrik ponders if he's heard the name in his past dealings.
History: 10
Korrik's been in good spirits, but Ess and Ben may have noticed him peering off into the dark at night, or looking around at nothing. If commented on, he'd shrug it off with a grin and change the subject.
"Most people at least tolerate us, and I have gotten good at getting people to look beyond the horns and skin! It is still just another hurdle to hop, though. I'd imagine its not that much worse than what you've had to put up with, maybe more angry. People have a picture of how you should be and run with that unless you show them otherwise. People have plenty of prejudices to go around, eh Ess? Either way I'll manage. Too bad I couldn't find that hat!"
Then a follow up question,
"I got the impression that the DRG were mainly a Neverwinter group? I'd never heard of them in Waterdeep, its mostly the Xanathars running those things with a few rivals. The Xanathars didn't look to have anything going in Neverwinter, but I didn't look very hard to find out either."
Busren will follow Korrik's gaze into nothing but wouldn't ask, he is busy retelling everything he knows about town.
((I would like to have Busren change his appearance but he just doesn't have the spell slots for it, after three hours people would wonder where that new red tiefling came from and he would be out of slots for the day.))
((Just need to make a pact with some dark power and get a couple levels in warlock for Mask of Many Faces! :P I had a tiefling sorcerer/warlock charlatan that the party thought was a human wizard sage, and didn't find out he was a tiefling until he got knocked out in a fight and they picked him up to carry him somewhere to recover and felt his horns and tail.))

((If the hat continues to prove difficult to obtain that is definitely on the table for him. I want to get him to level 4 first though so it might be a while. Or not, the leveling has been progressing nicely so far!))
Korrik, I have added new background information about the Scarlet Brotherhood on the Marshswamp tab based on that history roll and what you know about this group. I also think your criminal contact feature may come into play here. The thing is, you rolled low for your general info on Marshswamp, and an ok roll for the Brotherhood organization in general, so I am not sure how effective the feature would actually be. Or if it is totally independent of any rolls. It is your feature so please let me know if you feel strongly that Korrik would know someone in this org. and it will be so.
Ess would respond "Hmmm... I am pretty sure that Ben is right. I think the DRG is only relevant in Neverwinter. As for these Red Bro's... man I've never even heard of them." (he didn't roll history for Marshswamp and I don't think he would even know anything about this organization.)
((I am learning more about the Xanathars myself as I am going through Dungeon of the Mad Mage as well.))
Yay, no problems with the horses!
I am going to make the camping post tomorrow AM.
In the meantime, can the first person who sees this give me a straight d20 roll? I will need it for the camp.
Thanks!
