Korrik, the captain blushes for a moment, looks at his papers again, rubs his temples and says abruptly "I can't remember. I'm sorry. Can you just go speak with him? I'm sure he will be very happy to tell you all the details."
Ash follows Korrik, assuming no one else has any questions. She’ll also tell the party what she heard in the other offices, once they’re clear of the building and no one is near enough to overhear.
"I'm not saying that you must make them all, but it could prove profitable for your business. There is little doubt in my mind there will be demand for that many."
He claps the son on his shoulder, "Make what you can make, we'll see what we can do as well. I'll mention it to Eliander he should swing by to chat about what he thinks will be needed."
To Kester he'll give a smile and a nod, "War provides opportunities to those prepared to take advantage of them! Make what you can, and I'll see what skins we can find for you in the Dreadwood."
---
Ben would have been disappointed had Bimz not been on his shoulder!
To the dress and touching,
"We add gloves to the ensemble and we're safe enough. We both have tails, no need to alter that in the dress."
((Got to roll a 17 or higher for the silk forgery to happen. Gotten close, but no joy! It's probably at the upper limit of his skill.))
---
Ben will offer,
"If it helps, I have already been down to speak with Mafera and Jasker. You'll find them forewarned. Mafera might be a bit... concerned by the coming work load."
He looks to Kay with vague curiosity as he runs out with Ash in tow. He waves for Ess to stick with him as he continues with Eliander but sends Bimz to follow the other two and come back once he sees where they've went,
"You'll excuse my going back a step here, but you're not planning on dealing with these murderous bandits? How many children need to die before it's enough? I have to say I am surprised at your callousness."
He will raise a hand to forestall any reply,
"How far away was the body found and can someone take us there? Or, even more helpfully, can someone point us towards their camp? Someone needs to do something."
Ash sees Korrik accelerate away, fists clenched. She frowns, confused, but uses her Feline Agility to catch back up, flanking him, just back from his shoulder. She draws a dagger beneath the folds of her cloak and sticks with him. Something’s got the wind up his tail, but it’s not time to ask. She has his back regardless…
Korrik gives her a terse nod of thanks. When they get to the manor, he knocks loudly, but Ash probably notices that he was holding himself back from trying to batter the door down.
While they wait, he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He mutters to her in a choked voice, "If it's the same ship, Wave Widow was the one we were on when everything went to forking spoons. If... if this guy was part of it..."
Ash just nods back. Aware of the tension over the situation. The nod says, ‘You got this. I’ll follow your lead’. She looks relaxed but slightly sprung on her heels, with a little ready softness in her knees.
She has her black dagger drawn but holds her short cloak around that same hand and arm, so it’s completely concealed but still useful.
Ben, Jasker gives you an appreciative nod back and he seems to like when you clap his shoulder. He says "Right. You got it. Thanks again, Ben." and he takes his mom away into the iron forgery and you can hear them bickering about how they're ever going to manage the upcoming order.
Ben, Kester grins wide and says "Fantastic! Although, I hear there are some nasty creatures there. The Dreadwood, that is. Do be careful, yes? Although not too careful or you'll never find the best creatures!" and she laughs a little bit.

Bimz flies out the door and follows them as well as per Ben's command.follow yes!
Ben, as Ess leaves and it's just you and Eliander in his office, he stands up and clears his throat. You notice just how much of an imposing figure he is when he stands up, despite his advancing age and his finely carved wooden peg in place of his left leg.
He says "Son. Do watch your tone. You've no idea what I've been able to do here and I will not be insulted in that manner. Callous you say? HA! Remind me to tell you about THIS another time."and he points at his peg leg. He calms slightly and continues "Ben, I appreciate your goodwill. I always have and by the gods I always will. These bandits reestablish themselves quite quickly. Our forces have eliminated numerous hideouts and every few months they seem to turn up." he says a bit quieter "this is... on the normal side of things around here. And I need to focus my energy on more pressing things especially given the new potential threat with the Sahuagin. Besides, the crown did not bring me here to deal with bandits." and he returns to his louder voice. "Ben. Hero of Marshswamp. Should you still want to venture forth into the Dreadwood I shall get you the details you asked for." he yells at someone out in the hallway "VINCE!! Tell Lianne to come back to my office when you see her, I need to ask her something!"and he talks again to Ben"ok, I'll get you the details you want should you desire to still pursue bandits in the Dreadwood forest. I'll get you in touch with the scout patrol lead and we can go from there.Come see me later today. Alright?"
Meanwhile.....
at the door of Aubreck's mansion, the place the captain told you about, there is Korrik, Ess, Ash and Bimz. You all notice that the mansion is quite large but also very run down.
Ess responds to Kay"dude..... 'THE' Wave Widow??!! Holy shite.... bro... are you..." and he kind of awkwardly moves behind you with his hand on the hilt of his sword as Korrik bangs on the door again.
The door eventually opens. You see a human man looking back at a half orc and he yells "NEVER MIND Vertheg, I've got it!" and then the man mumbles don't even know why I keep him around and then looks at all of you and impatiently says: "Yes???"
Ben watches Ess run off with a look of irritation.
Ben allows Eliander to complete his tirade and eventually get back to doing what Ben knew he'd do.
"I chose my words... ineloquently. You have my sincerest apologies for suggesting you didn't care. I would like to get those details, I'll be back later. It seems the rest of the Heroes have disappeared after who knows what."
He rises and offers his hand to Eliander,
"I would actually be interested in knowing how that," he looks to the peg leg, "happened and what the king did put you here to do."
After that he heads out to find the others, sending periodic messages out to Bimz to guide him.
While they are waiting for someone to answer, he mutters to the others. "Keep an eye on this guy, if he lies to us, he's gonna get added to our 'jobs board'."
"Are you--", Korrik starts out hotly, before gathering himself a bit. "Ahem, that is, if you're Aubreck, Captain Eliander sent us to follow up on your boat -- ship issue."
Korrik plasters his best 'Ben-smile' on. "May we come in?"

Ben, Eliander grunts. "Humph. Yes. Fine. Come back later. I'll get the specifics you mentioned about the child from the patrol lead. Heck, I can get you in on the next patrol if ye really want to. Just don't go getting yourself killed before whatever the hell is coming up."
(he's assuming you're just going to help with whatever is next with the lizardfolk and sahuagin, haha)
He then gives you a softer glance when you offer your hand and looks at his leg and says "Yes. Sure. Not like I'm going anywhere. I need to prepare for this meeting tomorrow. T'will give me an excuse for a break and to tell a story. Thanks, Ben." and he gets back to his work.
He's clearly stressed about tomorrow.
Ben is only a few minutes behind the others, but he won't make it in time to be with the party during that first interaction with Aubreck. His mansion is just down the road from the council hall, and so Ben would end up getting to the mansion after the first interaction takes place with Korrik. Also, Bimz telepathy has a range of 100ft, so he would've lost you for a bit after he initially went with Kay, but as you approach the house (Eliander told you where it was) your telepathic connection resumes.
Aubreck glances at Ash and Ess before responding to Korrik"WHAT?! He sent ALL of you?! Who are y..." he stops and lets out a big sigh. "fine. I suppose it matters not. Yes. Come in."he says in kind of annoyed and rushed way as he enters you all into his house. He takes a few looks at the pseudodragon and starts to say something and then waves his hand and mumbles bah whatever, no time and continues to lead you all in.
Ben, you approach the house and see the party enter the mansion and the door shuts. You have the telepathic connection to Bimz, and you're just outside the mansion. Bimz 'says' master back! happyand he sends images of hearts, the same ones he always sends you. He also sends you a faint image of an arrow pointing to the mansion door.
Korrik, Ash, Bimz and Ess all enter the mansion and into the foyer. It is very large and there are a number of quite comfy looking chairs along with a few desks. Aubreck says to the half orc who you also saw standing in the foyer "Ok Vertheg, leave us."and the half orc butler leaves the foyer. Aubreck then says to Korrik, but looking at all of you "I think we can skip the pleasantries, yes? Eliander gave you the low down, I suspect? Ye didn't tell anyone else now, did ya? This is a lot of money we're talking here." he stops to catch his breath. "My apologies. It's just I reckon we don't have much time."
"Eliander DID give you all the details, yes? I've already hired a ship and crew for the mission."
As most of the party enter the property, Ash let’s Korrik go first.
When she turns to follow, she quickly sheathes the dagger, under her cloak. And with that done, she throws her hood and cloak back like she’s coming in from the cold, looking all together more respectable now.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Korrik's nearly vibrating with energy seeking a release of some sort. Ess and Ash haven't seem him this keyed up before, even when they were planning the wildness that was unleashing a room full of skeletons on a bunch of smugglers, he was calm and collected by comparison. Being familiar with his general demeanor, they might be wondering if he's about to grab Aubreck by the lapels and shake some answers out of him. Korrik, Vertheg indeed looks like a tough fellow. He's a half orc, and a particularly big one. If it was any other situation, this might actually be quite humorous as Vertheg is busting out of his butler attire and looks like he could handle himself. And... is that a weapon on him? You're not sure. As for Aubreck... you think you could take him. He looks tired and weak and impatient.
This seems more of a bodyguard thing vs. a butler thing, but you never know.
Korrik, Aubreck responds "Mission?! Well YES man! A recovery mission. Ok... Eliander really didn't give you any details about this, did he? You know what, it's better this way. The less people know about this the better." he then mutters to himself and dragons and then he continues "hey, that thing won't bite, will it?" and he looks at Bimz in a curious yet cautious manner.
He continues "So yeah... It's a mission. A recovery mission. The Wave Widow was... IS, IS my ship. I lost her a few years back and by some miracle she's been spotted adrift in the southern sea... reported as a ghost ship. 'Tis no ghost ship and I'm the rightful owner. I need to get it back. And everything within."
"Tresten? HA! Well... this may be fate after all. Captain Tresten, the fool... sold me the Wave Widow up in Waterdeep a bit before I lost her. Gave me a hell of a deal for her. Said he needed to get rid of it or something... I even had to clean it... bah, I didn't care, I still paid him enough for her and..."
".....wait, why are you asking about Tresten? How did you know... wait, Eliander DID send you here, right? Who are all of you??"
"VERTHEG! Come!"
<knock knock knock> on the front door.
Aubreck doesn't answer the door yet. He waits for Vertheg to come back as he waits for Kay, Ess and Ash to respond.
Ess blurts out "dude! Chill bro, Eliander just said you needed help bro! Dude, don't you recognize us bro?"
((LOL))
Aubreck looks at Ess with a stunned and then a concerned look when the knocking happens and waits for you all to respond along with Vertheg to get back to the foyer, which he does in a few split moments later.
"When did he say this ship went missing?", Korrik asks quietly.

No one answers Ben's knocking as of yet.
Over to you!
Ben knocks again, picking at the flaking paint on the door and frame with a quiet tsk as waits.
He sends to Bimz,
<I presume things are in order in there?>
Ben, Bimz sends back to you now that the connection is restored
(he's just happy to 'see' you again.)
Ben, no one answers your knocks as of yet. You could make a perception check if you want to try and listen against the door.
